Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else had tried the new YouTube Mobile web site, as it seems to be a huge improvement and seems pretty neat
However, it doesn't seem to be working in my current browser. I'm on Opera 9.7 & NRGZ28 July 3 ROM
This is the new site: Video 1 Video 2
Instead I get the old mobile site, which my Desktop browser also displays when you type http://m.youtube.com
Any thoughts/ideas why this might be?
Both of the links say that it is for android and iphone.
reason is html5
hi, you cannot see the latest youtube mobile site in full because it is designed for browsers that support HTML5 protocol. Only android browser and safari support html5 for now.
Opera (both mobile and desktop) support HTML 5 to some extent but not fully, yet. Development is in progress though
Internet explorer also does not support HTML5 yet
Current browsers mostly rely on Flash to display videos
I am using the Nexus One user agent and the website still doesn't work before anyone tries that route. It is seriously busted on 9.7
Nintendo wii uses opera browser if we use opera browser can we get net flix if so I'll subscribe

Doesn't matter which browser you use, Netflix doesn't work on Vibrant. You'll have to wait for the official app to be released.
Netflix is silverlight not flash and we dont have silverlight support.
At least thats start someone told me
Hello,
Looking for some advice on app selection from other Streak Users.
What are the best apps (in your experience) for the following:
-DivX/MKV player
-Youtube downloader
-Any kind of app to stream movies from your PC? e.g. Plex (video quality isn't anywhere near as good on Android vs iOS), or StreamToMe (on iOS), basically any kind of app that will transcode on the fly and stream over wifi to my Streak.. this is the main feature I miss switching from iOS.
-Is there a netflix apk that works in Canada?
-Best IM app for Windows Live.. currently testing IM+
-Any browser recommendations? Stock vs Firefox vs Dolphin?
-Best email client for exchange emails.. the stock is working fine, it just looks a bit... plain? I've read somewhere about using the Galaxy Tab client.. thoughts?
Thanks kindly for any advice!
Most of the items you ask for I don't bother with myself. The things I can give you advice on are:
Browser: I use Opera Mobile, mostly because I'm used to it from my days with Windows Mobile. Firefox does not support Flash at this time, but does have extension support. Dolphin I've never used.
IM App: I use IMO.
Please post Questions in the Q&A Forrum thats what it is for
Moving to Q&A
Personally:
Video Player - Moboplayer
YouTube Downloader - jetvd (http://www.jetvd.com/ on mobile browser)
Browser - Opera Mobile for smoothness, Dolphin for Download Compatibility, Maxthon for overall. Liked Maxthon, but last update made it weird. If fixed, will return to it.
That's my only area of knowledge.
Hope that helps!
Take care,
Oli
Well I think in my opinion you can take in consideration:
Moboplayer
Moviefone
Pulse
Xda
Dropbox
Tweetdeck
Tapatalk
Ebuddy
Wifi buddy
Qr droid
Scorecenter
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
I use..
gReader (RSS's)
FourShared
Gigbox (amazing app)
Organized Apps Free (different app drawer)
Plume (favourite twitter app)
dgAlert (replaces SMS notifications)
Ringdroid (editing ringtones)
SiMi Folder (customize the look of folders)
Root File Browser (to change LCD density)
Multipicture Live Wallpaper (lets you assign individual wallpapers to each screen)
Edit: Haha just re-read the OP and realized most of my suggestions aren't what you're after. Awell, they're good apps for anyone else who needs them!
i was wondering why FIREFOX does not support for ACE [even with Gingerbread]??
IS there any PORTED-FIREFOX version for ACE,i really love to use firefox on my mob?
There were a few betas available I think, but the firefox developers didn't go further developering for Armv6.
dolphin HD i cool , you should use it
Firefox is even on better devices quite slow, so i would recommend using an other browser like Dolphin or Opera instead.
opera mobile is the best
Found this today:

Safari Extension available here: http://www.joris-vervuurt.com/page9/page9.php
Anyone seen something similar for Android based browsers (maybe firefox) ?
Have had a "google" around but unable to find anything.
Is this something that cound be reverse engineered?
EDIT:
Is it only replacing Youtube functionality?
If so, the new Youtube for Android is HTML5 based now anyway.
Its kind of pointless if its just for Youtube, you can just go to youtube.com/html5 and opt in to using the HTML5 player. Plus there is already a Youtube app for Android, but if you want the full website instead an HTML5 capable browser with a desktop user agent should work.
