[Q] How to install the Contacts apk after flashing with CM7 - Defy Themes and Apps

Hi Guys,
I am looking at flashing my phone with CM7 now. Wanted to know if it is possible to install the some of the standard Motoblur stuff for example the contacts afterwards?
Anybody tried this at all?
Thanks

i want the stock contact apk as well, it helps match the contacts automatically, which is awesome

hi, sry to say that, but it's not possible, motoblur is rooted deep into the system so it's not possible to use motoblur software outside a motoblur rom.
greetings

motoblur contact app needs the support of Blur framework. the same for SMS app, etc.

[Q]

Gday Guys,
Wonder if someone could help. Ive got a bit of a problem with my calendar.
HTC HD2
SENSE
WINDOWS 6.5
My calendar has completely disappeared....lol... i still get the calendar grid affect, but there are no days/months etc on the calendar...
Bizarre, is there a way i can just reload the calendar program back onto the phone, or do i have to re-flash the stock rom back onto the handset
Any help greatly accepted.
Thanks
Mark
Have you installed any apps or customisations which changes the colors of your screen?
Maybe the entries and labels are still there but invisible.

no need to flash anything, just hard reset it. (after backing up)
I don't take risks with my calendar
That's why i synch everything with my email and then if it messed up than i just download it . Keep it smiple

[Q] Replacing Stock Apps with Custom Apps...

Hello, I am messing about deleting different files from the phone, and replacing them with (in my opinion) better apps, what i want to know is, I current LOVE the 'Go' Products, namely the SMS app and maybe the contacts app, so, which files do I need to delete/backup of the Stock messaging/Stock Contacts? I am using Elelinux newest gingerbread light... and usually uninstall files with titanium backup pro.... so can anyone help?
Be careful what you do cause some files are needed to make other programs to run or you may find you will get force closes on your phone or even semi brick.... This happened to me when I tried to change the look of my stock dialer! I did manage to do it after almost pulling my hair out for half an hour. Just be careful, I would also like to do this with go sms too, post back your results if all goes ok

yeah i be very careful, i back up everything religiously, thats why I ask here, I love my Hero, and dont wanna bugger it up
In the Go SMS app settings it says that it's better to keep the stock mms app. I also think It's better to keep the phone app. But if you use a custom launcher, you can delete the default launcher. Other apps you can delete are for example: Genie widget (news and weather), kickback, talkback, soundback, the music app, Google talk, browser, Twitter, Facebook and Google voice ;-)
Edit: and there's no reason to be afraid of messing up your phone, if you delete something wrong, just reflash your Rom with cache and dalvik wipe ;-)
sent with love from me to you
if you're running android 2.1, will this answer your question? http://www.market4android.com/stock-android-2-1-apps-list <-- see the colored cell.

[Q] Stock GB SMS app (or simular) in ICS?

Hi, after using my HTC Hero since it was launched I finally recieved an SGSII at work.
I really love the phone, and have been able to tweak most things to my likings, but the iPhone-wannabe-ish SMS thread viewer is definately not to my taste. No big issue, ofcourse, but I'm still posting about it in case some of you skilled Android-hackers/users have an easy solution. On my Hero I really loved the look of the SMS app in FroydVillain (Froyo) and Decked (GB). I'm honestly not sure, but I think they both ran stock unthemed SMS apps. Black baground, white text, clean interface without those silly bubbles. I've been trying to do a Google image search but haven't found out how the stock SMS app really looks in ICS so I don't know if the cartoonish iPhone-bubbles are from TW or AOSP.
I dont want some bloated and ugly SMS apps like Handscent or Go SMS that I've heard cause problems like duplicate sms-es.
Also, since the phone is my eployer's I want to avoid flashing/rooting it, so simply installing mms.apk from a different ROM is not possible afaik.
So, any suggestions? I guess I'm sort of hoping someone already compiled a binary/apk based on mms.apk that can easily be installed and used as the default messaging app.

[Q] Replace contacts/dialer 'apps'?

Hey guys,
i rooted my phone some days ago, threw everything that's Samsung out of it (Gallery, Calendar, Tasks, the hubs etc.) and replaced it with stock ICS stuff. However, I haven't found a way to replace the samsung dialer or the contacts app with their resective AOSP equivalents. Is there a way to do that?

yes its there to replace, but from my past it will often give you problems over time. so its better to use some alternative dialers or simply you can try some custom aokp/aosp roms.
Use custom ROM which is based of Samsung with themed as aosp.
Do a search for aospcontactsmms.zip I used to have it but stopped using it due to it causing problems with the built in blacklist.

Thanks for the replies So far, I'm really impressed by how well everything works, even after removing some Apps Like all the hubs, chat, samungs e-mail and calendar app etc.
I really thought i would run into problems, since this is the first time i rooted an android phone and messed around with it. I will now try to replace the contacts app etc., and if that causes problems I'll go for cm9...or is there a ROM that's even closer to "stock ics"?
Stock ics .... Look under Android development.
