[Q] Help - got problem during rooting - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I'm trying to root my SGS2.
I think my Kernel is in VAUKF4 which according to Kies 2.0 - it's the latest firmware.
Yesterday when I look at the system Version, I think it's Gingerbread 2.3.3
I tried to root it using Odin3 v1.85 and XWKDD_insecure.tar
I've set the phone to - USB Debugging mode
EDIT: ODIN has pass the process. but now the phone is not rebooting.
Can someone help what should I do next please?
Regards,
Michael S

Try pressing Volume up + Home + Power holding them when the phone is off and then do a Data / Cache wipe and a Factory Reset that should work.

I'm trying to flash the original kernel back to the phone...
but it's just taking so long.
I'll try the factory reset if this doesn't work.
Thanks

i end up flashing the original kernel and it works now...
now i'm looking for rooting it again =P

Reboot after power-down after rooting

Hi.
After rooting my SGSII it is not possible to power it off anymore.
When I tell it to shut down it will do so, but when its finished it will automatically boot up again.
This happened with both KE7 and KF1 firmwares (as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399).
I already restored the standard kernel and did a factory-reset, but the problem is still there. The phone itself works fine ofcourse when using it... it just won't power down..
Can anyone help?
Btw. I use the USB Jig to get into download-mode.
Flash full stock rom and start again .

[Q] during Firmware update.. got an error :(

Hi you guys
This is what happend for me.
Today Kies was updatet to a new version as well as in denmark we got acces to a new firmware
XWKF4
PDA: KF3
PHONE: KE7
CSC: KF1,
and off cause I wanted to update my device.
During the update Kies got a failure and i disconected my phone..
Now when i turn on the device i get a logo with: computer -- a orange triangle -- phone.
when i use both (volume UP + home + power) and just the power button
If i try to recover the phone using kies it just stops during the firmware recovery process at random %
I left it on the recovery at for instannce 10% and came back 2 hours later and it did not move on
And sometimes i get a korean/china/whatever message cant post a link to the picture because this is my first thread
im able to get into the "odin download mode " (volume down + home + power)
And i would really like to just get my phone back on track on the newest stock rom. This is my first android device so i not sure if its smart for me to play with custom roms yet. I dont want to void the warrenty, and im not sure if i understand everything yet
Can you help me 2 get my phone back on track?
Download this one: http://www.multiupload.com/8QERBJT6P7
It's the KF3 update with NEE CSC (the one you tried to update to )
Flash as PDA in Odin
BTW. the file is found in this thread: [ROM + Guide]Official i9100 KE7/KE8/KF1/KF3/KF4/KF2/KF3 download and Root Guide.
this works for telia?
Ill try to se if i can figure it out..
Telia doesn't brand their phones. So it will definitely work. There's a flash guide in the link I gave you before.

ICS update problem

Hi guys,
I have a problem upon updating to ICS LP7 from Kies, the process stuck on 1% for 3 hours and I (stupidly and impatiently) force to stop the updating process.
I am trying to use the emergency firmware recovery option from Kies and still no progress - 0%!!!
My phone wont start and icons appear on my screen and stuck on it. (please see attached)
Can anyone please help me to fix this problem? I have been trying to search for it but it seems there is none yet to solve this.
Thanks in advance,
Spoon
try getting into the download mode...
press - power button/volume down button/home button...all together...
once you reach the download mode... press volume down again to restart...
what happens then?
if the phone restarts successfully... you can try KIES again...
If you have an ICS release on KIES then CHECKFUS should find it and download then flash via Odin if you have download mode on phone .

I assume you were flashing with ODIN and therefore that you are familiar with it. If not just don't go ahead; do some reading instead .
Put your phone into download mode and make absolutely sure Kies is not running. Start ODIN, then connect the phone by USB. Does ODIN detect the phone?

I made sure Kies is not running, checked all the process under task manager.
Yes i am using ODIN1.85, it detects my phone but flashing fails, i think because i had XXLPS already and now i am trying to flash XXLPQ.
I actually wanted to flash CM9, and the procedure i found online said i must have XXLPQ, and for that i must have LP7 and clockwork recovery.
Try to go into recovery and wipe data + cache and format /system. Finally flash a rom in odin
If it fails, try odin and reparation with pit.
If no go, it is a physical damage in partition. RMA

Every phone has recovery. Power off, hold down the volume up, home, and power buttons. When your see the screen come on, let go of power, but keep holding home and volume up.
To find out your exact model number, look on the label under the battery.

You sure you have an i9100 now? You're currently active in another thread that is specific for i9100G.
In any case, if you keep going down the road of using a .pit file, make sure you use one for your specific model.
Look in the stickies in Q&A, there is a guide for fixing unflashable GSII by phistashio, I think his name is. There are .pit files there, I believe.
Thanks for all your support guys.
I managed to recover my Galaxy SII I9100 using phistasio's guide.
I do have a similar problem
Hello.
Sorry for taking your time. And for my bad english.
I'm from Lisbon, Portugal and bought a I9100 in May 2011, in a big store that imports cells from Germany.
Trought kies, i've been able to upgrade my I9100 firmware.
Last month i installed an anti-virus (kaspersky). A week later, I was able to uninstall it with Uninstaller App. It was not a good idea - each time i opened the display, I needed to put my password. I was told about this site, where I saw the brand new I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_I9300XXLG8, and decided to make an upgrade. Used Odin, and... all right. But, each time I enter kies to see if there was an upgrade, a window apears saying it was not possible to make an upgrade trought kies. To be able to do future upgrades, I tried to change my csc (DBT) to btu, or xeu, but, with samsung galaxy 2/s2 csc, the only csc it showed was dbt (the german csc). So, I tried to put another firmware - this one, from Germany. I found it in this site - I9100GXXLPY_I9100GXXLPV_I9100GDBTLP3.
I put my device in Recovery MODE (Home + Volume up + Power) -> Wipe Data/Factory reset. WHEN THE PHONE WAS OPENING, I took out the battery & put it back in -> put my device into Download MODE (Home + Volume Down + Power) -> put my device into Download MODE (Home + Volume Down + Power) -> clicked PDA and selected *.tar.md5 and clicked START.
After some moments, I got a message of FAIL.
Now, if I try to enter Recovery Mode, I receive a message saying - "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". And, to be able to put this message off, must take the battery out. What did I do wrong? What shall I do?
I know your time is precious to be wasted with this problem. But, please, will you help me?
I thank you very much.

You flashed an i9100G firmware to an i9100. Firmwares are not compatible between these variants.
You also were basing your desire to upgrade on the existence of a firmware for the i9300, which is the galaxy s3.
Thanks, ctomgee

I thank you for your great help.
I saw my mistakes: the new brand firmware I installed was, not I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_I9300XXLG8; but I9100XWLPT_I9100XXLQ6_I9100XEULPA. So, I reinstalled this last one, and the cell is fine
Thank you.
But I'd like to make a very last question - as I said, the cell is fine, but... I'm not able to upgrade it's firmware using Kies. I think it's because the store where I bought my I9100 imported it from Germany - so, its csc is DBT. The csc from the firmware I installed is XEU - don't understand why, but, when I open Kies, in the csc place, it says DBT. I tried to use the CSC Select app, to choose BUT or XEU. but I have no choice - the only csc there is DBT,
As you know all about Android world, could you tell me what shall I do to be able to get upgrades from Kies?
Once again, sorry for my bad english and thank you very much for your help.

[Q] SGS3 I9305 Unresponsive screen after root mishap

Hi All,
Australin Optus GT-I9305 (4G/LTE Ver).
Android 4.1.2
Download mode: Binary dowload 3 - Current binary Official - System status Official
I tried to root my SGS3 today with Odin however I used the wrong root from my old Note 2 which caused the screen to do weird things and then the screen would not boot up or respond. I have reinstalled the stock software on it with Odin and now the phone starts up but still does not respond to my touch's.
I can boot into recovery and download mode no problem. I have cleared the cache and performed a factory reset still no response from screen. I am stuck in the first set up screen atm the menu key, back & home key all make sounds when I touch them.
If I unroot the phone will it fix this issue? if so how?
Is the phone gone/dead/unfixable?
Or can I use USB OTG to control the phone so I can use triangle away and return for warranty?
I also think USB debugging is off as well as I cannot get into the phone.
Any help will be really appreciated thanks guys.

You will just have to get a new screen (i9305) as theres no way to fix via software! This also happened to XDA dev tv presenter Erica.
Thanks rayner123 but thats not what I wanted hear....

flashing note2 cfautoroot to your s3 will definitely brick your touchscreen and you cannot recover it by unrooting and flashing firmware your only choice is to bring it to warranty and before you do that follow the guide i posted here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145908&page=2
you can still use otg even usb debugging is uncheck.
Thanks will be trying that today
Thanks just done it everything is back to stock now im go to the store yeah.
Thanks heaps chris151722
