[Q] Xperia X10 Relocked itself? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a locked orange X10 and unlocked it with a code so I could use my tmobile simcard in it. However, I updated to 2.1 and now its relocked itself. I talked to a sony ericsson person and they said this was meant to happen because when it was updated it was restored to factory settings and they said I could use the same code to unlock it but I don't have this code anymore so they said I had no choice but to buy another code. Thats another £20 Is there a way I can unlock it again without buying a code again.

As of right now, no, there is no other way to SIM-unlock our x10's without handing over cash to someone.

I thought sim unlocking was supposed to be permanent. It's not fair that just because I updated I now have to potentially payanother £30 to get the phone unlocked AGAIN

i bought already unlocked x10, rogers branded (canada)
also had same fear to get a locked phone after update to 2.1
i even wrote to rogers support to investigate, they said they dont know it the phone will lock again.
se support didnt even answered....
BUT, i took the risk and updated to 2.1, the phone never locked.
hope it wont lock upgrading to 2.3

It will only be permanent (to the best of my knowledge) if we get an unlocked bootloader, because it gives us direct access to where SIM-lock is stored, and don't expect one from SE. So until Maxrfon and the_laser settle their argument and give us something to work with, or another genius unlocks it, im afraid you'll just have to pay for another code.

Yes, if the phone was originally unlocked, it _shouldn't_ lock it self.
EDIT: I may be wrong however, so don't quote me

Is the phone only sim locked on a software level? Would changing the firmware unlock it?

I've never had any complaints about relocking itself tho.

Help urgent! Need to unlock my phone!

Hi, ive rooted my xperia x10, however, I want to unlock my xperia x10 from orange, is there anyway to radio s-off my phone so I could unlock the sim?
You cannot unlock this phone, by the way you have mentioned before.
I think you are thinking about the HTC Desire method?
Orange will provide you with the unlock code for £15 provided the contract is over 6 months old. Not sure if they will do it for phones aquired from elsewhere (ebay ect) but give them a call anyway. They can only tell you to piss off.

Sim Unlock?

hey guys is there anyway i can unlock the atrix without calling att or spending any money? for my s2, there was an app on the market that did everything. i thought that unlocking the boot loader would let me use another sim, so now i am unlocked and rooted on 2.3.4. but it did not work. Cant i just flash a rom that unlocks my sim, if so what rom?
THANKS
it's easy. Just go to AT&T support page & choose live agent. If you don't get anyone now just wait 5/6 minutes till anyone becomes free. When anyone start chatting with you simple tell your need. He'll ask your IMEI. Give it & he'll give you the unlock code instantly
Contacting AT&T is not an option. I do not have a account. Is there any other way I can do it without contacting AT&T or spending money? My phone has unlocked boot loader and is on rooted 2.3.4.

[Q] Verifying SIM Unlock

I received my unlock code from AT&T and entered the code after putting in a friend's T-Mobile SIM. I was able to place a call with that SIM. I am running CM10 and would like to know if this change will stick since I don't have access to the T-Mobile SIM. I tried CID Getter to no avail. I'd just like to know that it will be permanent. Thanks in advance!
From my experience on my tmobile version it is totally permanent. After installing many ROMs, many times, including CM10 the unlock always sticks.

That answers my question! I tried CID Getter and another tool that didn't show all 1's for the CID so I was worried. Thanks for the fast response!
Unlocking via code is always permanent, on any phone.
The unlock part is part of the devices hardware. Once it is unlocked you cannot go back.
Curiously, buying an unlocked atrix (I did) comes in an AT&T box, and until yesterday I wasn't even aware it was unlocked (I assumed it was but had no way to know for sure.)

As far as I know, the Atrix 4G was only ever sold in the US as an AT&T device. So it might be unlocked but it'll still be AT&T branded.

If I root Sony Xperia U will it unlock phone to all networks?

Hi, I'm in the UK and looking at buying the xperia u for my sister. However it is locked on either o2 or Vodafone, depending on where I buy it from.
My question is how do I unlock the phone to make it sim free, I want to put a t mobile sim in there.
Do I root the phone to make it sim free? Or is there some other method.
Thanks for any help.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Buy it from phones4u and it'll be unlocked. No rooting doesn't unlock
Also depending on what she wants it for the 'U' isn't that great really. If you're buying it out right then get an S off eBay. They go for only around 120-150 area
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
O2 will unlock it for free if you have a contract with them (or get someone with a contract to do it).
CPW stock is also unlocked.
You have to install a Custom Rom

are you sure this will work?
Installing a custom rom or rooting the device will not make your phon sim free. If you want a network unlocked phone get it factory unlocked otherwis you will end paying for an unlocking service.

okay a noob question ! but as far as i have read, ALL the Z2 have locked bootloaders ? mine is due to be delivered today, and here is the noob part , how do i check to see if my bootloader is locked ?
Mine is from Vodafone and is bootloader & SIM locked. (Thinking about returning it because if this).
Open dialer and type *#*#service#*#* This will give you all the info

In most cases* if you buy a Sony phone on contract within the UK it'll have a locked bootloader and there is literally nothing that can be done about it.
I learned the hard way with my last Sony device (on contract with Three) so have bought the Z2 off-contract this time round and will pay for a Sim-only plan with Three (this works out cheaper as well).
*Buying on-contract through a third party such as CPW might possibly give you an unlocked bootloader... but it's down to the Network to lock the bootloader permanently and I don't know whether they have this opportunity before CPW ships them to customers

Carphone Warehouse always supply unlocked devices so that's one good reason to go there (i believe the same is true of phones4u but i have no first hand experience of this).
I'll. Collect my p4u z2 on Friday and let you guys know whether BL is locked or unlocked.

okay so i just got my phone. i typed *#*#service#*#* and under the sim lock and other stuff , its all 0 next to everything. so does that mean its locked or not ? mine was from phones 4 u ... okay i just realized that if it has an X contained within any of the little brackets the its locked .. mine does not . so i guess my bootloader isn't locked then ??

It seems like theres a bit of confusion here between an unlocked bootloader and a sim unlocked handset.........unlocking the bootloader doesn't let you use any sim, likewise if you can use any sim it doesn't mean you have an unlocked bootloader, mine is from phones for you and has no network/sim locks but bootloader is locked altho it says its unlockable..... from what ive seen in forums it seems like only the phones with no network lock have unlockable bootloaders, i cant be more help regarding the bootloader as im new to sony, all i know is its got something to do with installing custom roms and rooting
Just got my phone, ordered from mobiles.co.uk (which is Carphone W)arehouse) and I can confirm that it is both unlocked to any sim and that it's "Rooting Status is "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes"

Yes if your phone is sim unlocked no doubt it will be bootloader unlocked
And even tho it is unlockable by saying yes means u have to unlock it through the website or through xda and then you will be able to flash custom ROMs but there is hardly no ROMs at the moment give it a few weeks and then you will have a few to pick from
Hopefully if all is good we will be bringing a ROM out for the z2 might be abut Rusty as haven't made any thing since the arc and neo times

So I've asked Vodafone to sim unlock for me, but this won't enable me to bootloader unlock, ie change status to bootloader unlock allowed = yes?
