Hello, when I text and go over certain amount of characters, my text messages are getting split into 2 or even 3 text messages depending on how long it is. Is there a way to fix that issue?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
On there side or your side texts can only be 160 charc
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
It's not an issue. That's how messages must be sent over cdma to ensure they go thru properly
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Well... I never had this issue with the EVO 4G. It started happening now with the EVO 3D. Rooting had to do anything with removing that limit?
No its a limit of text messages or the app your using most apps combine multiple texts into to "one" text

Yes you did. You may not have noticed it, but seeing as that's how CDMA networks work, it definitely happened. Most sms apps show whatever you sent in the text thread as being one message no matter how many messages its actually broken up into. Frankly, even the stock app does this so I'm not sure why it would even concern you.
Thanks for the replies. Maybe I shouldn't have called it an issue but I wanted to know why it was happening. And according to the people I been texting, they say that it never happened when I had the EVO 4G, it started happening now with the 3D. Thanks anyway

Yea, doesn't happen for me on the Evo 4g either. My girl still has hers, and I just had her send me a very long text. It came through as just that, one very long text. I copied the text then (copy / paste) and then pasted it in the text field to send it back to her. It split it into 3 texts. I have seen many people say that that's how it is with CDMA, but I only ever had that happen on an AOSP rom with the Evo4g. With sense roms, (on the Evo4G) it somehow keeps it all in one long text without splitting it. Not sure how, but it does.

That's weird cause it did split on my EVO due to CDMA lack of perform correctly
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d

Anyone else experiencing receiving multiple Sms messages. If so does anyone know how to fix it?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Yes I have the same problem. Don't know the solution though. I got 5 of one sms and 3 of another today. Very annoying.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Is this happening from all contacts, or just a select few? If a select few, check to see if the messages coming from are from one carrier. I've had this happen to me a few times on another phone. The issue was from the other carrier, not much you can do anything about except report the issue to customer service. If you are on limited texting plan at least, otherwise ignore it.
It's from multiple carriers for me.

This has been happening to me a lot also. I have tried to do pretty much everything, but nothing has worked. I tried handcent's option to replace the stock messaging system, which only lead to me not receiving about 50% of texts. Hopefully someone has a fix for this? It's very annoying

Sorry bud, I can't parse your message here.
Yup same problem.. duplicate messages even with the stock app..
Call Verizon just for the purpose of them getting the message.
It's annoying when you get 6 messages.. I wonder if it's counting as multiple txt on the bill..

i would like to hope its doubtful that its costing extra as its mostly a problem of the phone pulling the messages multiple times, basically not ticking the "received" box on the server side of things. afterall, it is easier to count them as they pass through the network versus your phone counting and reporting back, not very efficient... mines kicked up again recently.. and yes rather annoying...
I noticed this too but it only happened after I used ATK more aggressively. I rebooted my phone and the messages stopped coming in repeatedly. Seems to have gone away now that I'm rooted. Hope that helps someone out there.

reboot, dial *228 (on Verizon) goes through the phone activation, problem solved.
Vzw tech said it could be the towers, or the phone... the only thing he was really sure about was that this fixed it.

Which option...1 or 2? I would assume #2.
I have done this FYI, it did not fix it.
Option 1 seemed to work for me.

Multi services?
Ok i intermitently have this same problem but noticed something interesting that may be related? I downloaded a startup manager program to see what was starting up on reboot yesterday and noticed there are 3 text message services running? Im assuming this may be the cause of multiple messages recieved so I have disabled 2 of the 3 instances and was still able to recieve sms but not sure if this will fix the issue or not
If you look that is the text msg app listening to different events, not 3 copies of it loading.
Got my E3D the day it came out trade a reconditioned stock non rooted EVO 4G because my other one broke and Sprint replaced it. None the less i was looking at text message delete at a certain number of messages is not working. Is anyone else having this issue. I have it set to 200 messages then delete but i have threads over 300 messages. Anyone help?
I'm having the same issue. Glad it's not just me.

Worked great on the EVO 4G! I guess well have to wait for update to fix this.
I just noticed that as well.
Has anyone else been having problems with their texts never making it to the recipient?
I've been texting a verizon number a lot and every day, a few of my texts will never show up on the other end. I was wondering if anyone has faced this before.
I call tech support they had me do the usual, pull the battery, remote "refresh" but my texts are still getting lost in space.
Had a facebook message that didn't get received until like two years later

I had this problem. Til I disassociated my Sprint phone # with my Google voice acct. Problem solved.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
So did you have one number that was both Google voice and Sprint? I currently have my Google voice forward stuff to my sprint number but I doubt that would be problematic.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I linked my Sprint number to Google voice a while back to not use my Sprint minutes or texts. I didn't just forward. Once I undid it, my texts started working again, not one problem.
I originally had a separate GV number.

This happens to me too sometimes. Only thing is abt 2 days later, the texts come flooding in all at once. So Google voice is the culprit? Interesting...
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Same exact thing for me. I logged into Google voice, clicked phones, unchecked my Sprint #, and all is working now.
This has happened to me consistently since I signed up with sprint two years ago.

Not sure if this is a phone related issue you are experiencing?
I will get messages in different orders sometimes but that's just SMS in general.
Are you using Sprint # with Voice integration? I use that and have few issues.
Its SMS is general, Ive been with Verizon, AT&T and now Sprint and Ive had that happen from each one.

No way it has anything to do with the phone. It just poles the towers for messages, it's up to the sms system to keep it all in order.

That's def not a reason to return your phone bc at times that will happen on all phones..no matter how "smart" they r
Your issue lies with Sprint, not this phone. It's happend on my original evo, the 3D this phone my wife's Samsung and also her LG and my nephews Epic.

Iv had this happen even w dumb phones its either poor signal on one end or carriers not communicating very well. Could also be a tower problem but not usually.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I Think it happens most when someone goes over their 160 character limit and one message that got split into 2 gets sent before the other.
This happens to me at work.
I work on the first floor of a hospital, and typically I'm roaming while I'm in the building. On my og evo I never roamed in the hospital but now I do the second I walk in the building.
All my texts come in with the time stamp 5 hours on the future.

I had an issue with text message time stamps when I lose signal in the subway. When I get signal again, the timestamp would show 7 hours ahead of time on the text, but the order is still correct in the text message thread if I send a message after. I changed my time settings to get Automatic date & time and time zone, and it seems to have fixed the issue. I haven't gotten many text messages when I don't have service, so I can't confirm that this works 100%. But the text messages I have received when out of signal (around 4 or 5 messages) show the correct time stamp (the time the person sent the message, not the time I receive it when I get signal again) after I did this. I just tested this by turning on airplane mode, and I am still getting the correct time stamp. Hope this helps.

My texts are delayed and/or coming in batches. Same with the voicemails. This is a HUGE problem. I am S-off, 1.58 bootloader (I think that's the new one), rooted, and using viruses stock rooted sprint ROM. ANyone else having problems? I'm on sprint in the Denver area.
I have the exact same setup and issue with sms. I don't use voicemail so no idea on that. I think it started when I restored SMS from a backup. Have you done something like that recently?
I'm in the Denver area, running Mean ROM, ICS, having no issues with mms, sms or voicemails.
I would suggest a good wipe of your caches and a profile update.

All texts I receive are time stamped about 2-3 min ahead of my phones time so conversations get a bit hard to follow sometimes. I have tried to do resets, purges, different roms etc. I think it is a network issue with sprint... I don't doubt this because when they did tower upgrades here two weeks ago the auto time was set at PST and I live in Houston... It took a few calls to sprint before they would even acknowledge a problem and fix it.

They upgraded the network and it's so fast now that the texts travel forward in time. It's Network Vision!
In all seriousness, my phone will make me manually set my time zone occasionally as it can't get it from the network.

Happened to me too. Like it'd say the text was like from 9pm when it was really 3pm and it'd be so annoying because no matter what i send, it'd always be the most recent message.

Also check that you're on a proper prl. I know it only affects roaming but I've had a similar issue. Tried different prls, mostly for the 3g roaming, and discovered that I wasn't even getting texts. Went to a different prl and issue resolved. Coincidence? Maybe... But it worked for me.
