Haven't seen anything about this posted yet so I guess I'll go ahead and post -
Forgot my password for Sense and it wont send me the recovery email (I've tried twice). Any suggestions, and is this a known issue?
You mean the pass word for the account or the password for the phone??

Apologies I should have been more clear - the account.
Cool. Well if you tried threw the pc then just do a data wipe it should reset all the passwords then just setup a new one. Mean while keep trying to retrieve your old one via email incase you have something you want from that account.

I know its a bummer dude but here's what I do. I keep a note pad file on my sd hidden in a folder and it has all of my passwords on there for my accounts. Then I just change the file ext to hide it even further. Just an idea for you. Good luck man

Good idea - I'll be following that example. It's just weird that they won't send me password recovery stuff to my email even though they say they are. I guess it's an issue on HTC's end?
How is wiping the phone gonna help him remember an htcsense.com password?
His email is already linked.
He needs to wait for that email from htc.
Otherwise, remove the sense account from settings/accounts and sync.

It wont. If you would read dude. I stated it would reset all passwords allowing him to setup a different account to use while he waits for his old account password.

He can remove his sense account and start fresh w/o wiping the phone.
Are you purposefully trying to screw him up?

It takes me all of but 10 min to reroot over clock to 1836 setup all my email accounts and sync and setup my home screens. Lol a data wipe screws the user wow laugh of the day.

Hello,
I swapped out 3D's and too forgot my Sense and Watch Passwords. However, I did receive Emails with the new Passwords. Unlike most Services, it did take around 30 Minutes instead of being sent instantaneously. I would check your Junk/Trash Folder to make sure that they did not accidentally get sent there. Also, you could always call HTC and perhaps they might be able to assist you.
Cheers,
JJ

I have a rooted Evo LTE on the factory ROM and everything has been fine... until just now. I decided I wanted to recover my call log from my Evo 4G backup via Titanium Backup. Now, after a reboot, I get a popup that says:
"android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to send an error report to HTC? This will help us improve our products."
The problem is that when I click 'Don't Send' it goes away but then pops up again less than a second later. It literally will continue over and over again w/o any end in sight. My phone is bork and I don't know how to un-bork it at this point. Sometimes I wish life had an 'undo' option as I don't even really care that much about my call log. I was just trying to get fancy I guess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my phone is pretty much useless at the moment.
I was able to navigate back to 'contacts/calls' within Titanium Backup between popups and click freeze. It froze and I no longer get those popups but I now get"
'Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped'
In addition to this I assume that my phone, contacts or something also doesn't work now that I've frozen 'Call/Contacts' but now maybe at least I can delete and restore this file with a proper working one?? Anyone??
Did you accidentally restore the Contacts/Calls application instead of the list?
You could have just synced the contacts to your gmail account on the OG EVO and they would have synced automatically on the LTE.

Yes, this is what I did. It was even in GREEN text which Titanium Backup says is safe to restore and to avoid RED. How can I fix this?

It wasn't the contacts I was after. All of my contacts are sync'd to Google so with the new phone I had all my contacts after logging into Google. I was just trying to restore my call log from my previous phone when all this began.
That Titanium Backup item is data only. Go back to Titanium to that line item, unfreeze, then wipe data. You should be good to go. Then maybe reboot to make sure there are no more force closes.
Edit: Actually, I may be wrong. There could be an apk with that as well. What I said above is still worth a shot, though. If it doesn't work you will have to find a way to restore that apk. Are you running a custom ROM?

That's the weird part was I thought that I did just restore the data. I'm about 97% sure that's what I selected in fact. I figured it would leave the app as is and then restore the data and bam! I'd have my call log. That's not the case. Clearing data from Titanium Backup was going to be my next step but didn't want to bork things any further. If you're saying it's safe to do I will attempt that.

No, like I said in the OP I've rooted a stock Evo LTE and that's all. Nothing else has been done.
Reboot into recovery (vol up + vol down + power and as soon as the phone powers off, let go of vol up) and fix permissions.

I agree and I need to. I need to unlock my bootloader first and I started the process but didn't have the files I needed at like step 8 or whatever it was. I guess I'll try harder to find what I need when I get some more time.
In case anyone is curious, the problem exists because you have a Facebook friend that has a birthday on February 29th. Either remove the Facebook friend or don't sync calendar data from Facebook. You will need to clear the data first and then re-sync contacts and live feed for it to work. Hope this helps. This is a bug that HTC needs to fix.

If so, just go to gmail on the web and resest your password using one of those.

Short answer No, this is one of the security features, otherwise anyone could change anyone's password.
Even if you want to take off the primary account you have to do a Factory reset. unless you have root.access With mobiles you have to treat it the same as your PC, Backup everything.
Sorry

Nah not rooted. Got in touch with Google and they put me in contact with the group they use for issues like this. A lot of useful info but there's nothing they can do because my wife only used the gmail to access the play store and nothing else. So basically we are sol and have to factory reset the phone. Gonna look through and find out how to do it

If contacts all what you need. try to login to his gmail account and contacts will be there because they are typically synched with his gmail account.
Your other option to see his bill statement either online or on paper. you will see his contacts phone numbers typically there with location but not name.
Install android commander on Windows. Connect to your computer and if he had usb debugging "checked" you will be able to access everything via. Windows. Long shot but worth a try. I did this when I smashed my screen and needed to get everything off of it before I sent it in. I'm sorry to hear about your brother.

I would have done the same damn thing because he's getting answers faster this way. Go be a **** somewhere else...Anyway you might want to try doing the old trick from the early android days. Call his phone from another one and answer it. When u answer it hit the home button and see where that gets you. Hope this helps and God Bless your family

So sorry to hear about your brother. I work for Sprint and unfortunately there is no way to get around a pattern/passcode lock on the phone without a gmail username/password or a hard reset. What you can do is check the sd card to see if there is a vcard file on it. It's possible he made a backup of the contacts on there. The file will end with .vcf. If you see any files like that put them on a computer and import them into another gmail account that you have access to. Hope this helps and I wish your brother luck to recover from his accident.
You could use Juopunutbear to get S-OFF and then flash a custom recovery from fastboot and then either pull his GMail account information from there or at least bypass the lockscreen.

There is no way to bypass the lock screen or get gmail info through the recovery. Plus I'm pretty sure the Juopunutbear bootloader unlocker hard resets the device.
Couldn't you pull the data partition with a recovery menu?
if you know is gmail, then attempt to do a password recovery of it. if u manage to get the password then you'll find all is contacts most likely synced with Google contacts.
check if hes still loggged into his gmail on his PC.
if hes using Firefox, he might of have had firefox save his password on his pc (assuming he as a computer) in the firefox options u can look at a master list of saved passwords and hopefully his gmail would be included...
found a link here: i havent tried it but its worth a shot.
http://droidlessons.com/how-to-reset-your-android-lock-screen-password/
If your familiar with rooting and modding. then maybe u can get clockworkmod on there and from there do a dirty flash of MeanROM or or CM9. there by flashing over the lock screen and pattern while keeping data.... this should be a last resort...
If he has his own computer you could try loging into his Play store and instal an app called : Screen Lock Bypass (search it on Play store).
If this doesnt help then your best luck is to search on Google "bypass android pin lock" and hopefully you find some methods.
And good luck to your brother i hope he gets better. =)
I was able to figure out his yahoo password which allowed me to reset his gmail password! I got his contacts. Thanks!
Anyway I will try to unlock the phone later when this all settles down so one of his sons can at least use it. (Their Mom passed away last summer, they are in their early 20's)
Thank you so much guys!
hi all
short story: galaxy s3 has the mainboard malfunction problem. had the phone replaced. what i got was the same IMEI handset, yet all wiped.
i was looking forward to the nice app restore feature.
however after setting language, timezone, etc. the phone is not taking me to the google sign in page, so to associate my handset with my account (hopefully restoring some of my data)
any idea why the phone does not ask for a google account sign in after reset?
i've updated to 4.1.2 on kies but the same issue, phone says it is all setup without asking for google sign in.
any tips how to make it ask for it at first device setup so to retrieve all the data backed up on google servers?
many thanks, all input appreciated.

Never had this issue myself, my only assumption is that the software isn't right otherwise it'd be asking right? Have you Rooted the handset? If so then pop on a ROM you like and see if you yield the same results.
As I said I've never had this issue before myself but I am suspecting bad software so do what I've suggested and see if it helps.
Hope you get some luck

thanks to all the guys who wholeheartedly tried to help
@dladz yes, the solution was to flash a new rom.
but no need for custom roms
SOLUTION: for anyone who might come across this unusual behavior
-if you do not get asked for google (and samsung) account after hard resets (through recovery console or otherwise) you have to reflash the same version with Odin. no need to tick 'reformat' or anything. i used the same stock version (gotten from http://androidromupdate.com - slightly differetn csc and phone) and it solved by itself just like this.
goes to show how little we actually know about Android's entrails..
Is there any kind that actually works? I keep fishing around on Google play and everything is either old, doesn't work, or is full of sh*t, or a combination of all 3.
Welcome to XDA
If you're running Android 9 or higher simply do a factory reset. There are no known rootkits that can worm out of the user partition, once that data is wiped so is the malware.
Don't reload it again after the factory reset.

Which would be how? Would I need a app or something for the pc? And if so do you have any recommendations? I have the mixsilver file manager on my phone (pixel 6 "Not pro"). Would there be a way I could find it thru there? Also my device is not rooted. So would I need to root? I'm sorry if this gets on your nerves. If so tell me, won't hurt my feelings. I'm literally a noob at this stuff. I've been trying to teach myself and just do trial and error but im getting in over my head and don't wanna accidentally brick my phone or worse.

With Avast or AVG Antivirus you can do a pretty good scan of your apps, even system apps if you want.
For Factory reset see here https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/4596836
or go here on a PC (you need your Pixel connected by usb to the PC then): https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection

Chrome ****tin out 3 gigs of data a day. I have unlimited so it's not that big of a deal but still.....and some of the options I had in settings like "permissions, enable/disable, clear data/cache" that I know for a fact I had not too long ago are now greyed out or nonexistent. Also sometimes when I bring up "location" thru the settings menu everything is supposed to be "off" but there's 2 or 3 that look like they are switching back to say "off" as soon as the page shows. 1 of them outright takes several seconds to display any "on or off" setting at all. I've found a "Verizon" system app on my phone, some kind of Samsung telephony thing. And it seems like I can input a change to settings or something and when I look at my phone in the morning everything I had set up is back to it's previous settings.

Thank you. Umm.....stupid question but I've never done a full reset before so.....how and would I need to move my apps to another storage or could I just go back thru the play store and redownload? And any paid apps and subscriptions?
It probably explains all that in those links doesn't it?
Just do factory reset and you are okay.. Then start using phone as new..

Chrome ****tin out 3 gigs of data a day. I have unlimited so it's not that big of a deal but still.....and some of the options I had in settings like "permissions, enable/disable, clear data/cache" that I know for a fact I had not too long ago are now greyed out or nonexistent. For what it's worth, the Verizon system app comes with the phone in case you use a Verizon sim.
If you end up clean flashing or factory resetting, I would not restore any apps from backups. I would reinstall everything fresh or you could just be putting the malware back on your phone, if that indeed is what you have.

Just redownload them. Google remembers your bought apps or subscriptions in your Google account, so as long as you use the same email/account for logging in to Playstore after Factory reset you're good.
Your contacts normally are also synced to your Google Account, so you get them back also then.

It comes with the phone by default just in case you do use Verizon. Basically that app helps give the phone Verizon support, of sorts. It's disabled by default if you don't use Verizon so there's really nothing to worry about with that app.

Man thank you. There's stuff on here that I don't understand and I've been thinking it's something I've downloaded or whatever. I'm new to all of this.
