Hi all, just bought a streak 5 and just joined the forum, my stupid question is about rooting. I previously had and have a n900 and just want to run maemo/ meego or ubuntu on this streak , is rooting just like having the x-terminal on the n900 where I can get in and fek around? Also there appears to be a few ways to root ,whats the best or do I just get a terminal from..android market. Finally anyone running meego on a streak_ cos to be fair it was a bit buggy and limited on the n900. Sorry for being so dense

i am currently an hd2 user, coming from a long line of htc devices. and hence hav an affinity towards windows mobile. but for the past few days have become a serious fan of the dell streak so am planning to buy. i know currently streak has not even been hacked properly, but its jst a matter of time neway. but just generally, i am curious to kno is it possible to run windows mobile on an android device. i kno i kno, nt many would be too enthusiatic about such an idea, but sum people, i'm sure would love to see this happen as recently android phones have been coming out in all awsome packages whereas wm users like me are simply left wanting more. so just a query, is it possible, is any project on this in the works. if so can sumbody please point me to it. for ne android device.

hey guys, hopefully this isnt a repost of a common older thread that i couldnt find. im new to android and have only been playing around on friend's devices and i've finally decided that i need a new phone. i'm currently using a nokia n95-3, very good device despite its age. i've read a lot of reviews on the streak and there are quite a few mixed reviews out there.
so the reason for my post here is to find out, should i get a streak. the reasons i like it right now is the screen size and android. and what i'm looking to ask you guys is what is your most favourite thing about the streak and also you biggest grievance with it. i figured coming here to ask would be best since everyone is a streak user so please also include the length of time you have been using or used the streak. thanks for your help guys and look forward to the input.

Is possible to install Windows Phone in Dell Venue ?
I know many will say, for what i want to do that if there is a Venue Pro...
For what i want to do that to an android phone if it's best OS than Wphone7
etc,etc
Its just a doubt... i had a venue pro in past, but it was bulky, now i got a venue, and liked me so much, except for the android...
i know many other will say im sick to want to do that, lol.. but as i said, its just a dumb question... of course if the answer is yes, next step i will find how to do that...

i need some serious help.
i bought dell venue 2.2.2 a month back,and i found update on dell site,which i did and it got upgraded to Android 2.3.3
i love my phone,but just because of its so short battery time(also lots of apps jumping in background even when i am not using them,obviously this might be the cause of sucking the battery) i am getting fed up and thinking to sell it and buy some other phone,particularly not Android.i have also same experiences with iOS and i dislike it for its dependency on iTunes.Nokia and BlackBerry are better,they have better battery life but lack of app market makes you confused what to do?
i am a newbie to Android.i found posts on rooting and custom ROMs.
so please guide me,how can i install custom Android 4 on my Dell venue,i read somewhere on blog that an Android update doesn't mean it is also available for any phone but custom ROMs can be possible.
please help me for this so that i may continue using this phone.
