Bug found in SMS - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

This bug has been seen before on other devices but just beware.
If you are writing a reply to an SMS and a new SMS comes in whilst doing this, DON'T HIT SEND!
It may send the text to the last one received. Save the message as a draft first, read the new message, then return to the draft and then send.
Happened to me twice and very embarrassing when you tell a customer you love them with kisses!

Well, in my opininon, SMS is not for business and serious communication.

Well, that's your opinion...
I'm just glad my bank has the opposite opinion and sends me an SMS every time my credit or debit cards are used. Instant fraud check.

I agree in case you mentioned. But SMS is not for business comunication with your business partner or client. Use e-mail or voice call...
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using Tapatalk

It also applies if you are talking to your lady friend and your mom texts you. It would be rather awkward if you sent your mom a dirty text. Or a lude pic for that matter.
Sent from my HTC EVO View. 7" of 4g fury!

That can be very dangerous especially when someone is cheating on the partner(s). Or even talking smack about their friends behind their friends' backs.

Exactly.
Sent from my HTC EVO View. 7" of 4g fury!

.
Yep, that's the REAL point of this thread, to highlight the bug.
Not to have it hijacked by a troll for a debate on SMS business usages...
SMS chat to a customer is called relationship building, I never mentioned any form of transaction... Mind you, sending love n' kisses is a bit extreme!!
Anyway, end of subject.

Anyone else hyped about BBM's possible porting to Android?

I know I am.
Sent from my HTC Glacier running CM7 RC
Nope. Seems alot easier to just send a text message. No need to wonder if the person I'm trying to message has BBM or not.
I am...will be able to communicate with a lot more people. Some of my old BBM contacts didn't have unlimited text

Exactly! Or if you yourself don't have unlimited text, it works wonders! I'm stoked!
nope, don't really care at all..most people have unlimited texting now and BBM will probably die along with blackberry
If carriers don't charge extra for it then I'm hyped if they do then no kik messenger works fine for me.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Not really, no.
Maybe if it was a year or so ago. Back when I first got my Android phone in place of my blackberry I would have used it a lot. But just about everyone I used to talk to on BBM back then knows I never use it anymore and a lot of them don't use it anymore either.
Literally 2 of every three people I know use BBM religiously. I'd love for it to port to Android.
Sent from my HTC Glacier running CM7 RC
I'm not stoked for it. I don't know anyone who really uses BBM. Plus since I'm not a BB user I'm really interested in it. But i'm sure there are plenty of people who find some use for BBM.
Live Profile works fine for me.

When i had my blackberries, BBM was the hardest thing for me to leave behind. As i've matured in the world, and all things cell phone related. i have come to the point where BBM is not useful, it's pointless, and offers nothing that no one else currently offers. Will i download it? dunno? will i use it? most likely not, i only know one person with a blackberry. And he also has a Google Talk App on his phone. So... it's pointless.
I think it's RIM last stand against the two big platforms out there... I can just picture Bugs Bunny saying "eh... if you can't beat em.... join em "

Okay... okay ... you might have a valid point. But with Spring Pad/ Google Calendar/ google Talk, i do not have to worry about the BIS crashing and leaving everyone stranded. Or whomevers servers go down and leave that person out of the loop....
It's okay i know it's "more" work but i'll take the added bonus of not worrying about BIS crashing.

I'm pretty sure HTC knows how we feel and doesn't give a ****.
What we need is for the WORLD to know how WE feel and then put a skeptical eye on HTC to see what they do...that's the only way HTC will do the right thing. They already knew how we would feel, they certainly know how we do feel...and I doubt they care.
But if we take this to the biggest stages we can find and get a wider audience to hear what is going on then HTC has to respond on to the wider audience....which they will care about. They have already demonstrated they don't care about our tiny little corner of the internet.
1.) I e-mailed Android Central to follow this. I expected they would already, but I guess they are scared to death of losing out on any industry freebies and hookups they may have. Others should follow suit and get them to follow this
2.) Everybody submit this to Slashdot.org as well. a Huge readership over there that would care about our plight. Don't just submit the 'why' we are upset but links to tweets, message boards and htc's facebook to show the how upset we are and how many of us there are.
3.) Any other media outlet that may care. Try to keep from getting too 'nerdy', don't get into crypto-signed bootloader talk....just say "encrypted the phone so we can't install whatever software we want"
4.) Bomb Google searches, make a trend. Same for twitter.
5.) Be tasteful and grownup. Don't hurl insults, don't just bomb someones email, don't DDOS. Just spread our plight to a larger audience and then HTC has to answer to EVERYONE (not just us) with their actions....as opposed to what they will answer just us with--inaction.
Off to Facebook.....

auto white balance

My auto white balance was really bad. I returned my 3vo and got replacement. That one had the green camera as did the next. This one has the auto white balance problem (purple people and red skin tones when outside) AND a tilted screen, AND specs under the screen, AND reboots! Obviously I'm returning it tomorrow, but my question goes like this. If I get another one with green screen or white balance issues, can it be fixed by a software update/developer? Or is it hardware?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Software. That is if you are talking about the camera white balance.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
Look here...
http://therootofallevo.com/2011/07/evo-3d-getting-the-most-out-of-your-camera-2d-pictures/
Shouldn't have returned the phone because of a software issue in the first place.
If your phone is randomly rebooting and you haven't installed any unusual apps , return it at once, it is likely a hardware defect.
The poor camera white balance issue is a software problem and can likely be fixed with improved software.
Should we be writing emails to HTC and sprint about this? This is the only gripe I have about my phone. Maybe if brought to their attention, multiple times, they will fix it.

I think we should, but I know they probably will do nothing about it. I expect HTC will fix it all at some point but I think the community released ROMs will fix the problems even before HTC does.
I don't understand why HTC is so bad about properly optimizing their software (Sense), providing a GPU accelerated UI, proper camera software, etc. Aside from the pretty looking effects of sense, it is pretty much unoptimized overweight garbage software.
I'm really glad we will be getting custom roms on this phone, it will show the true power of the underlying hardware, something which HTC failed to do IMO.
Just buy a sg II...

Email sent and goes as follows.
Dear sir or madam,
I've recently purchased one of your products (the HTC EVO 3d), and can honestly say that it is by far the best phone I have used yet. However, the camera (2d or 3d) is by far one of the worst I've seen on any device, including my previous phone, the EVO 4g. I have experienced a green and purple tint in low light situations and purple flesh tones in actual sunlight. These situations are consistant with every photo. I at first thought, "this phone must be defective", so I exchanged it for a new replacement. Long story short, I'm now on my fourth replacement phone and going in for my fifth tomorrow. Every one of these phones has had the same issue. Purple and green everywhere. As one of the main features of this phone are the dual 5mp cameras, needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed in the sub par quality. I was told by a very trusted source that the issue of the painfully low quality of the camera could be resolved by a software revision/update. If this is so , please do not hesitate to look into and fix this issue. If it is a hardware issue, I don't understand why you would put such terrible hardware in this phone. I've seen the quality of the camera on other handsets (such as the mytouch 4g and the thunderbolt), and was very, very impressed. As I am not the only one with this issue, I would think that this could do nothing but hurt your reputation as the top android handset distributor. if you cannot fix this issue on existing handsets, could you please let Me/the public know so we can better compare the 3d to other handsets before purchasing?
I would rather not permanently return my phone for a competitors handset, but like many others I've spoken with, I will if need be. Hope to hear a definitive answer from you soon.
I Thank you and await

We are aware of this issue and we are working as fast as we can to get this resolved as soon as possible. This issue should be resolved via software update but we do not have any information about when this will be available. This is why I buy HTC phones and continue to support them

as many of you know, i've been in contact with customer support since launch day of the rezound, reporting any bugs we had, the pink light issue and mainly the bad audio during video recording. iv'e spoken to them over the phone countless times to tell them whats up, and voiced all of our concerns.
a year later, of course there's a few issues with teh DNA, so i dug back up an old ticket and was able to chat with support again, and i was able to get the same guy i spoke with last year. we've been messaging back and forth almost daily about issues and i've got a thread ongoing here where people submit any bugs or suggestions, and i know for a fact HTC is looking at them.
the other day, he asked me for my address along with inviting me to join HTC Elevate. today i got this in the mail. on top of it, i'm sure you all remember how i recently was able to get an HTC rep to my store for the first time since we've opened just by contacting them..the day after i wrote to them, a rep was at my store to show me all the new HTC stuff, and provided free display models and brochures...and a day after that, HTC sent a huge box of stuff to give customers (stands, bracelets, sim card openers, ice scrapers, little things)
so yeah. this is why i deal with HTC. i know they'll listen to me, and i know how much they appreciate our consumer feedback. i've never had a company treat me so well as a customer and with such a level of personal contact.

Can you point to the battery threads you are talking about? I'm getting max 4 hours screen on time, and usually 3.5.
only way to get more would be to turn off data, location, and most other stuff. Kernel is killing the battery on my first unit, and a replacement unit is doing the same.
Thanks.

OT: spam calls

Sorry for the OT post, but I'm really curious. Over the past week both my wife and I have experienced a tremendous increase in spam calls, her worse than me. She gets 10+ a day, myself maybe 3. Never used to get any. Doesn't seem to be isolated to us either, friends saying that they are too. Both Android and Apple phones. WTF broke loose?
Not that I think it makes any difference, but I am a Nexus 6p running PN (best rom!) and she's stock S7.

Do these calls come from the same numbers or different numbers each time and every day.
There are some cases where these calls are coming from legitimate numbers. What I mean is the spammers are making it look like the call is coming from a person's cell phone and some people call it back telling the poor person to stop calling but here she had nothing to do with it.

I've had my landline and cell phones on the Do Not Call list for years but since March the number of spam calls has increased tremendously. Many of the callers appear to be the same entity calling from different numbers and area codes. I added them to the block list and am at least warned when the phone rings whether I should pick up the call or let it go to voicemail. Bad thing is on Android N and O (preview) when a call goes to voicemail the phone vibrates -- I haven't found a way to disable that vibration.

Never used to get any. Doesn't seem to be isolated to us either, friends saying that they are too. Both Android and Apple phones. WTF broke loose? Not that I think it makes any difference, but I am a Nexus 6p running PN (best rom!) and she's stock S7.

There is a solution if you are willing to pay for it. I use a service called NoMoRobo. Don't laugh, it works great and the whole family loves it. I use in on my home phone which is VOIP (Vonage) and so it is free. Free on just about any VOIP service. But.... mobile phones have to pay. There is an app already for IOS and a beta of the Android app you can get enroll in now.
I use a program called extreme call blocker. ITs a few $ but worth it!

The robo calls are VOIP calls from overseas. If you have T-Mobile, you can enable Scam Block
Since I enabled it, only 2 spam calls have made it through.

Good to know this about T-Mobile blocking!

I haven't had any at all. I'm not sure about other countries, but if you're in the US just add both of your numbers to the national 'do not call' list.
