[Q] July is slowly drawing to a close.. - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which either means we will get the official update to gingerbread any day now, or that it will be pushed back another month.
What are you guys looking forward to the most with this update? (If you have waited it out and not used a ROM)
And also, if anyone knows any information on the release date that would be great

Nothing I doubt it will be much different than what I'm using now aside from correcting bugs and if it is there will be a rom out to mimic it so ill stay ahead of the curve.
From my gingerbread fed Atrix... oh yeah and it's unlocked, rooted and just better than yours.

Im looking forward to dev's pulling out a flawless update that will fix a lot of bugs for us users

Ding Ding Ding! Although, my phone is damn near perfect. Running @ 1.1mhz smoothly and still getting 24 hours from a charge. I am loving life and this phone!

my guess is early next month, they are just starting to roll out the soak test.

Probably, but not very quickly. I think a realistic expectation would be next summer for an official release.
1 year??!?? By that time there will be a SG3, damn it i really wanted it, guess ill have to replace my SG2

I think some time next year though doubt it'll be as late as summer for the exact reason you mentioned, the SG3 being released around that time of year. Expect it Spring hopefully.
Strange you'd want to replace it THIS quickly though.

Hopefully there will be some more AOSP roms which are working good.
oxygen and cm7 seem to have some probs and hardware isn't supported completely
For my htc desire there are much more complete working AOSP roms. Would be nice to have that suppot on SGS2.
surely once the ICS is out to nexus the devs will have roms cooked up in the next few days after its released..

Maybe not within a few days, but I think we'll have ICS by the end of this year, assuming it does get released in October/November.

Either way, its way too soon for us to be talking of ICS, im waiting for 2.3.5 as that will arrive before any ICS update.

ICS release imminent

I responded to @htc tweet with the hashtag #four saying "mmm ICS. Better release it (and the source code dammit) for the Rezound." and @htc immediately responded with ";-)." Maybe I'm gullible or wistfully thinking, but I think the release date (or even rollout of the OTA) will begin this Sunday. My Twitter handle is @deathbyfugu1987 if you'd like to confirm.

We would have already seen documentation on VerizonWireless regarding the OTA. They do it for every Android update..and usually that's how we know it's coming. HTC has already announced that the Sensation line is getting ICS next month with the rest of us "later this year". I can't see how / why they would spring an update on us that as of the last leaks, weren't nearly ready for primetime.
"This Sunday you’ll hear something authentic." Hmmm. Something authentic from them will be saying later this year we will receive it
Wishful thinking. We'll probably see an RC leak before the official release.
Why do we care? Don't we already have a pretty stable version of ICS?

Rezound Zone? Na.. Maybe!

Well I just ordered the Rezound after moving from Sprint. Just wanted to say Hi some forums appreciated that. Not sure if I will do a ROM for this device but who am I kidding? Anyway just wanted to stop in an say Hi. Got the device coming FEDEX from Verizon for $99 bucks. I was waiting for the One but since HTC is taking it over to AT&Ts ****ty network I'm going to go to this. Pretty excited about it the phone really has everything I want. Anything I need to know? From what I have read you guys are using HTC Unlock and flashing kernels with fastboot? Is that about right? Thanks.

Hey Zone. Great to see you on the Rezound forum Unlocking and rooting is fairly easy but I was a bit gun shy at first. Tried to read up a bunch first if that make sense. lol. I really don't mess around too much with custom kernels because I feel the stability and speed is already good enough with custom roms. But I'm sure custom kernels bring this device to another level. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.
Also Cleanflash is a great way to flash boot.img. Scott did a great job with it.

Not really I have cut way back. Someone started doing a boat load of free ones which pushed me out of that market. Plus we still can't edit m10s (Sense 3.5) which is a big problem for me. When I go to make this ROM blue I wont be able to remove all the green. That drives me a little crazy.

lol. That's the truth. Wimax speeds were about the same for me here but the difference is LTE has more coverage in my town overall. Less dead spots for sure. Only thing that has surprised me since switching is there have been at least 4 LTE outages this year. It seems like when they go down, I can't even get 3g it goes right to 1x which is dreadful. But I'm sure they are going to iron this out.
Haha.. funny to see you switch over too. It's funny how that works. Amazing how long that EVO battery lasts when it's NOT attached to the NOT-now Network.
The speeds/switch capacity issues/discount change finally did it in for me too.
Glad to see friends on the other side!

ICS currently has a touch screen bug (big, for me) where sometimes you swipe in one direction and it 'jumps' the other way. May be the kernel.
GB is stable and working great. All of the GB ROMs are stable as a rock.
I use Ineffabilis. Lots of great features, and 100% stock base. Nothing stability-wise touched.
Every single non-stock kernel has stability issues with most peoples' rezounds (even without overclocking). The dual 1.5ghz doesn't seem to need an overclocking (this is the first phone I've ever felt that way about), so it doesn't bother me.
Stock kernel is great, and everything works. Some great Devs here, and it's getting busier by the week as our phone gets more attention.
Welcome, sir!

ICS delayed told Q2!!

Read this on a couple of tech sites. Very disappointed. I was under the impression that the wait for ICS wasn't gonna be that long. That was a big factor in getting the note. Would have held out for a quad core with ICS already on it if I knew it was gonna be this long. I love my note and it's sad that att's flagship android device doesn't have the latest version of android. Plus I think ics will smooth out alot of the lagginess owners have been reporting.

The funny part is that this is for the International version. Meaning that we'll get ICS months after that

What? Possibly in issolated cases or on crappy ROMs, but that is one hell of an arogant blanket statement to make on an OS that is just rolling out onto handsets the past couple months. I saw vast improvements with it in many aspects, to include battery.

^^This guys got a point. I will defend ICS tooth and nail, but you will rarely find me belly aching about it being on the note. I absolutely want it, but I didn't buy a phone with it already on it. I do expect ATT/Samsung to deliver it to us, but don't think we'll see it untill fall. Anything sooner will be a great surprise, anything later and I'll start complaining. If all I wanted was ICS then I would have kept my Vibrant.
Time to DIY
I saw that this morning and welp... time to flash a custom ROM -_-
I was holding off waiting for the official to get here 'later this month'. I am disappoint. Oh well... Its not hard to root anyway.
Waiting for the next o.s. update for your smartphone is a never ending game and hasn't changed.
It's not real smart to buy something HOPING it will get the next update sooner rather than later. WIth smartphones, you'll always be disappointed .
I'm running ICS on another device I have and it's not that big of a deal. I'd certainly like it on my Note but it's not something I'm waiting for with every breath.

AOSP Rom for Google Now

Looking for an AOSP rom I can use as a daily driver. Just saw that Google Now has been ported over for anyone running an AOSP ICS rom and I'd like to try it out. The roms I have seen for the Rezound all seem to have issues with data not working, etc. Are there any out there that are stable without major issues?
If not, I guess I will just have to be content waiting for a Sense based JB rom to come out. Something tells me I won't have to wait terribly long.
If you are having data issues then there is something going wrong when you flash. Are you s-on unlocked?
We do not have AOSP, yet. We are waiting for source to be released.
Whisper ROM coming soon.

Half of our devs left.
I have a feeling we'll have a AOSP by mid August or so.
There is a really good chance that at some point we'll see an official OTA to JB after ICS finally drops. The Rezound is less than 6 months old, still one of the high end phones in Verizon's lineup (for now) and it's just an incremental update. It's not like the jump from GB to ICS.

I know everyone is mad about the official ota taking forever but he might be right. The rezound is very capable of running jelly bean and this phone and the incredible 4g are the only high end htc phones on Verizon. The OG Incredible is still getting small updates for God sake.

No need for ASOP for Google Now, just ICS. I have it running perfectly fine on CleanROM DE, minus the same no voice search issue everyone else is having. If you are running into no data problems, then you are running an older version of that port. The no data error was fixed
