Hello,
Did any of you manage to install one of these applications?
Tia,
Installed whatsapp with no problems and works well on my 3g flyer but cannot install viber from market.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA Premium App
Did you do anything special? Whatsapp won't install on my 3g
Thanks!
You need an active sim in it, as I recall, even on a 3g flyer.

Same problem here , even I emailed whatsapp with the error logo but their answer was they not support tablets and even don't think in near future , I wonder how some owners of flyer have this work.....if you arrive to any solution pls let me know.
Thx
It was work with galaxy tab 7 inc
I cannot find these two app from Flyer market. My friend shared me the APK and I installed & use without poblem.
Whatsapp is working now, used a new prepaid sim card and ll of a sudden it worked.
No luck with viber though.
Both whatsapp and viber is working on HTC flyer. One drawback of viber is it don't support Bluetooth headset. Only speaker phone allowed. But Skype is working well with Bluetooth headset even with video call.

I have the exact problem as you too. Then i install this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1175589 and now Whatsapp and Viber working fine together with the phone function for the Flyer. But the software number now is 1.38.709.7 and the ROM only in English and Chinese.
Hi all,
This is a member of the Viber Development Team!
Unfortunately your assumptions were right - Viber is still not compatible with HoneyComb devices, and that is why you still can't find it on Market.
We plan to develop Viber for Tablets in the future though, and we will announce it once it's ready.
Meanwhile, you can use this link to manually download the .APK intended for partially-supported devices: http://helpme.viber.com/index.php/K...View/100/16/cant-download-from-android-market
It might work with many bugs, it might simply not work. We apologize for the inconvenience
Regards,
Viber.
Thanks team
The only way I can get Viber running is with a Titanium Backup copy of my Viber on my Sensation.
But due to a reason I can not solve , both Sensation and Flyer act as the same device. In otherwords if I change my Viber phone number on Flyer than the Viber phone number of Sensation also changes and vice versa. If I deactivate, Flyer the Sensation also gets deactivated at the same time.
I would like to use my 2 different cell phones numbers at the same time.
One number for Sensation and one number for Flyer. Anybody managed to achieve this goal ?
@VIBER TEAM apart from the incident above, the Viber works flawlessly with Flyer , you should just add this to supported devices asap.
For starters it should be S-OFF mode with the tablet ROOT.
Help
(Not to be confused with PG41IMG.zip, you'll need to download 3, one the old ROM that holds the most, the second is the recovery will be the least concerned and the third will be the last to recover the last radio and put the ROM)
(Enter the hidden menu HTC FLYER HBOOT while holding down power + volume down until you exit the menu takes a few seconds)
(After installing the old ROM no recovery will have to install a recovery and then the ROOT SU before installing the Backup and WhatsApp Titanium)
(I recommend the old ROM, WiFi and configure the Google account, when you have Titanium Backup, gives a problem if you give it to Problems and unload the BusyBox is only necessary to operate and it will ask for root permissions)
Have a MicroSD At least 3GB free, keep in mind that the copy of the ROM is 1 GB, more than 500 of the ROM zip file to be copied to the SD, with a copy of the backup software (to backup only the App to App Titanium not the system you'll see that there are two options)
1 TO FIRST one Nandroid Backup the ROM recovery. entering the menu HBOOT.
2 Have the Titanium Backup (the demo program worth Titanium Backup) to backup applications.
3 download the old ROM, HTC_WWE_1.36.405.4_Radio_20.35.30.089BU_3809.04.04 .21 _M: PG41IMG.zip
4 copy the file to your microsd and enter the menu HBOOT, to put his old ROM and delete the file once put the microsd.
5 Once the old ROM, you have to put the recovery. That is explained HERE
6 Copy the file to the microSD, su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed so that when you enter the recovery menu, do one (Zip Install from sdcard) will select that file and the ROOT (her) to use the Titanium Backup.
The Market 7 Titanium will install Backup. The WhatsApp the official website, once installed you do a backup.
8 It is only replacing the ROM restore Nanodroid you had before.
9 (As the safest thing you changed the radio. In a more older version) I've put a file contains a new radio version.
PG41IMG.zip
android-info.txt
boot.img
hboot_1.11.0003.nb0
radio.img
rcdata.img
recovery.img
These 6 files, the recovery is already the xda v4.0.0.5 which is the file included.
To put the ROM would copy this file to the microSD HBOOT Menu Update, delete file later.)
10 Entering recovery mode go to menu HBOOT -> backup -> recovery -> select restore, to restore the ROM.
11 Once we open the restored Titanium Backup reboot, we see that we have a new application to restore. The WhatsApp, I can run the current version of Android, I at least 2.3.4 and Android GingerBread 20.3504.30.089BU_3809.07.04.06_M radio that was the last update

We got reports from many other users whose Flyer wasn't working smoothly with Viber, to say the least.
What OS version are you running? Is it a custom ROM?

You are right , it doesn't work smoothly.... It only works fine when I use Titanium Backup to copy the settings of my HTC Sensation into my HTC FLYER .
Here is the explanation of the problem.
I am on the official Latest European HTC Rom
This is the updated HTC Rom, according to what I read , Viber was working fine till HTC upgraded the official Rom to this newer version .
HBOOT : 1.10.0000
ANDROID VERSION : 2.3.3
SOFTWARE NUMBER : 2.00.405.3
Description of the error : After installing the Viber software, when you enter your country code and phone nember. when you press continue, it returns with a ERROR message
Here is the youtube LINK of the error message
HOWEVER; If I use Titanium Backup and copy the setup of Viber on my HTC Sensation into my HTC FLYER, the Viber works flawlessly however then my Flyer actually just acts as a clone of my Sensation .
Imagine if I deactivate my Sensation the Flyer also gets deactivated, if I deactivate my Flyer than the Sensation gets deactivated.
If I change the phone number on my FLYER, the phone number automatically changes on the Sensation as well. So it acts as a clone of my Sensation if I use Titanium Backup to copy settings.
That's a nice workaround for your problem, however note the following restrictions:
1. Viber doesn't *really* work on your 2 devices. Only one will be able to be available simultaneously.
2. C2DM notifications will *only* be able to appear on your Sensation, and not your Flyer.
Having said that, you should know that we are working on official support for Tablets. No exact release dates yet, but it won't take months. Once it's ready, you'll be able enjoy a stable version.

I installed one of the custom roms (could be cyanogenmod7 beta) for Wildfire 1-2months back, and come across a very handy app/tool, where I can sync contact with my older phone via bluetooth. To do that, i dont even have to select all the contacts from my older phone and send it to my Wildfire. I only have to pair it and connect, select the phone model that im using and press ok, and see it magically sync the contacts over from my Sony Ericsson K610 to my Wildfire.
But the rom wasn't stable, so I restored the original rom back to my phone. I couldnt remember what the app was called, or is it a build in function/tool for stock Android rom? Recently I install the stable version of Cyanogenmod 7 and couldnt find this tool anymore, been searching all around android market and Google too but to no avail.
Anyone come across this wonderful bluetooth contact syncing app/tool?
It's a feature present in the Stock ROM's. It's called Data Transfer (Or simply Transfer, can't remember exactly)

THANKS! thats what i was looking for, how come this wasnt bundle with Cyanogenmod 7
By the way, where can i get this app?
Its an HTC App, so it wont be bundled with CM.
If you specifically want to use this app, you will have to get a Sense ROM.
Or, you can use one of the many PC Apps which can backup your contacts from your K610 and import them into your Wildfire. (Including the SE Suite which is included on your disc)
EDIT: Someone has posted it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970907
Although it will probably not work with CM7, you can still give it a try.

The custom sense ROM i used previously doesn't comes with Transfer Data. probably being removed by the ROM developer. Anyway thanks for the info, the TransferData.apk in the link you posted earlier is not workable, with error message "INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES"
In that case, just use a SAFE RUU. They are untouched Releases, with only the Radio and Updated Bootloader Removed.
Try this one:

Or, you can install WildPuzzle. It definitely has that installed. (Just checked its install ZIP)
Hello, just today I've rooted a branded LG P500 using the z4root method and it woked fine. I installed Rom Manager and from it Clockworkmod Recovery. I made a backup of my sdcard content, booted in recovery, partitioned the sdcard (512MB ext/ 0MB swap) and made a nandroid backup. In this step I made a mistake and wiped everything before backup so what I have is the stock image, but for my problem this sould be beneficial.
Once I had the nandroid backup, I started installing ROMS (Mike_os and others) just to find that in everyone of them I couldn't download applications from the market. It starts with "Starting download" and then it doesn't really start downloading. It stays in this state forever.
The real problem is that I restored the nandroid backup (thus restoring the branded ROM) just to find that everything works except the Market, which has the same problems as before.
What can I do? Being a branded phone, can I install one of the unbranded firmwares that I've found in the forum? I don't want to brick my phone.
do you have DroidWall or any other application that you can choose wich apps should use wifi and 3g, ect?
No, right now (after the nandroid restore) I have the stock one with the usual carrier crapware (which should not interfere with the market as it wasn't before rooting).

Force Stop and Clear cache your market
Force Stop and Clear cache Download manager
Force Stop and Clear cache DRM
try to see if your market works then.
Or else you should try to flash gapps wich you can find somewhere here on the forum.
I tried all of that. I even updated the phone firmware through the LG PC Suite so now I have an updated branded ROM (2.2.1, it was 2.2 before). Now every modification should be wiped, Clockworkmod should have been removed and all of that (also I've lost the root access). I don't know what to do!. I can download through the same wifi connection with my Desire HD, from a friend's P500 but not with my brother P500 phone!

I had the same problem for a while and even took it to the shops for repairs, they told me it was an virus ( and they lied cause it was not). Then later i founded out that something was wrong with my sd card and that caused my phone to do this.
If you download and install any APK, does it then work?
Try to copy everything on your sd to the pc, then scan your sd card for errors and format it. Then copy your files back over again.
Then reset phone and see if it works
I enabled mass storage, formatted the sdcard through windows, then I cleared all market data, mounted the sdcard again and started market. It asked me to accept the terms. Then I tried to start a download and it got to the same point.
Is there any alternative to the official google market? I know about applanet, but it's not very reliable and it has to be updated manually continuously.
OK.....is the android market bar grey in color? (normally is green)
If it is,
1.go to settings > manage applications > all > search for market > clear data
2.reopen Market again, it should give you terms or something, just press accept then you're done !!
How long have you faced this problem? I once got it and I ignored it and it got fixed on its own in a day.

It started as grey, (the old version) but I closed it and when I opened it again it was green (new version) I've cleared the market data many times and it didn't make any difference. When I open the market again I have to accept the terms but it doesn't work anyway.
You might want to use KDZ updater and do it all again ( root, installing custom recovery, etc)
But this time use gingerbreak to root.
Anyway, it's a ISP problem. I flashed MIUI in my Desire HD and I had the same problem (stuck at "starting download"), then I switched to 3G and it started downloading correctly. The strangest thing is that I restored (through Nandroid) my last ROM (Android Revolution HD) and the market was working through WIFI and 3G. I suppose there's some kind of firewall for some ports in the ISP part which is filtering market (and Google Talk) requests.
Hi everyone! I'm a n00b here and I installed recently the [ROM][RC4b][10.09.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+. It was working OK but now it's making me some kind of troubles with the bluetooth that I cannot fix and I was hoping if somebody could help me.
When I connect the HTC Legend to the bluetooth of my car (it's not a separated bluetooth, it's part of the car) the phone crashes with a com.android.phone error and asks me to put the PIN of the SIM card. It's not a complete reboot.
I've tried to whipe it but it doesn't works. At first this happened when I my HTC Sense account, but now it seems to happen when Market updates to Google Play (always), and I cannot stop this process. I've tried, whit the Root Explorer, to erase the Market Updater o change permissions, but it stills updates.
I've searched this error on the web and I only found threads about Samsung, so I don't know if the fixes for Samsung will work.
So, my questions are
Is there any way to stop the updating of the Market?
Has somebody fixed this issue?
Exists any other ROM with Gingerbread for Legend? I've tried other ROMs but 2.2 is so boring and Cyanogen... It's excessive for me.
Thanks for the answers!!
I've used ogos gingerbread for a long time, I've never had bt issues like your describing, the only thing I can suggest is you are flashing a bad zip file.
Try doing a zip check with a zip manager like 7zip or similar.
I'm order to stop market, u need to either freeze marketupdater.apk or rename the file, its located in /system/app you need s-off or unlocked boot loader (hboot 1.02).
I think ogos is the only gingerbread with sense available (please correct me if I'm wrong) , everything else Is a variation of cyanogen.

I have renamed MarketUpdater.apk and it still updates, I tried to erase it (before, not now, I've made a new flash) and Market updates to Google Play. Is there another way? I have the unlocked HBOOT 1.02 but I'm not S-OFF, I don´t know if this last thing affects...
EDIT: The 7zip tests says that the ROM is OK

Did you reboot your phone after renaming?
P..s. what did you rename it too? I always rename by changing .apk to .bak
I think you might have to clear dalvik cache too.
As you may have heard, unlocked hboot 1.02 is pretty much s-off radio and sim lock and some other little bits is only still locked

On my S-On the only way to stop market updater is to prevent it from going online by means of Avast's firewall option.

I renamed it to MARKETUPDATE22.BAK, but it stills update. That's confusing, at least for me, I thought that it won't update again to Google Play. Of course I made a reset.
I didn't tried to wipe the Dalvik. I'll try and tonight I'll proof it with my car.
:what: hum mm I'm at a loss too.
Can I assume that you still have old market as in not yet updated to play store? Before disable updater?
Before this unlocked bootloader thing I know that old market that came with rom was protected and didn't get replaced not sure now, haven't tried that but You might be able to still uninstall new market from settings manage apps.

I found this posted over at the HTC Aria forum by user mtnlion and thought somebody might be interested. You can turn off the market updater (which is responsible for bringing the new market back over and over) by going to terminal emulator and typing:
Code:
$ su
# pm disable com.android.vending.updater
This can be re-enabled by doing the same as above but typing enable instead of disable. I've tested it and it appears to persist after reboot. If you already have the new market you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market > Uninstall Updates. This will revert you to the old market. Do it after disabling updater.
This doesn't stop automatic updates of apps according to the other thread. I'm sure some of you already know about this but hopefully it'll help somebody

Hi to everyone! Unfortunately, the pm disable com.android.vending.updater doesn't work and still updates. I hadn't tried to connect again because my car was in the mechanic, tomorrow I'll try again to see if Dalvik's has worked.
Thanks to everyone!
I don't know if this was suggested, but how about backing up the updater app, and from there remove it?
If you ever need it again, resort to the backup.
Not sure if it'll work, but logic states that there isn't a reason it shouldn't.
Hi! After cleaning Dalvik's caché looks to be working fine, after 2 days it doesn't crash. I don't know if this is really solved but hey, let's try it.

Hello all,
let me present my self as a beginner in the world of Android.
It has come an Star A3 to my hands, with Android 4.0 and among all great things of IceCream, few Chinese apps I want to get rid of
the phone is rooted (well, one headache less)
I have flash the recovery 592zn.com_recovery_Star_A3_MT6573.img with Mobileuncle tools (included in the mobile originally) and done a Boot/System/Data/Cache Nandroid backup
Apps I want to eliminate :
Baidu input (and add the standard input keyboard)
own Chinese launcher (I have already install LauncherPro, but I would love to get rid of the Chinese one completely)
UC xxxxx (some Chinese browser)
Root Explorer (Chinese version, to be able to install the English one)
ICS 4.0 (also Chinese version)
a Chinese flash-light
a Chinese dark/light switch screen
a Chinese version of the configuration menu
so, basically to keep a clean Android
so, where I have to look for help on how to do that ??
what short of help / tutorial am I looking for ?
I have installed:
http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
to be able to mount the nandroid img files in windows7-x64
but I can't see anything, it ask me to format the unit (?)
similar with Daemon Tools .
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

My advice since you're rooted is install Titanium Backup and use it to uninstall everything you don't want. It's a root app that can get rid of virtually anything.
Seeing as you have a nandroid backup, in the unlikely case that the device won't boot at all without one or more of those apps, you can just restore the backup you have.

Star A3 for dummies
Hello
Ok I have searched for hours (as the video asked) and I cannot find an "android for dummies" guide. I dont know what a "root" is or what "titanium" is... so I may have found the correct forum - but I just don't understand it.
So the problem is this:
I bought a touch screen DualSim Android 2.3 GPS 3G MTK6573 Phone Star A3.
It arrived today BUT it has some chinese programmes on it (that I would like to clear) and I cannot seem to download any additional apps for it.
google.play wont work (apparently it doesnt support the device)
It has a few basic apps - but nothing wild or that I guess can't be re-downloaded again.
What would you recommend I do - do I wipe it and install something new or what. and if so please can someone explain it to me in small "for dummy" steps
I am not sure what else I need to tell you to give you abetter pic, but ideally I'd like this phone to work on the google apps system (or can you point me to where I can get similar apps)
On the "about phone" the
android version is 2.3.5
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7
I would really appreciate any help you can give me
Thanks
My first advice would be to try and achieve root on the phone. This should be relatively easy on a Chinese phone, most don't have great security.
Basically, "root" means to get increased permissions on the phone. There are certain files and actions on the phone that normally you can't do. With root, you can. Think of it as somewhat like logging into a computer as an Administrator rather than a standard user.
"getting root" basically means installing a hack to let apps on your phone do more than they could otherwise e.g. uninstall preinstalled apps.
To "root" your phone, you can use a tool like SuperOneClick or UnlockRoot. For both, you follow a few instructions, plug in your phone and click "Root" in the program, it'll work out the best way to do it for your phone and do it.
Once that is all done, there is a guide here for getting Google Apps (e.g. Play Store) working on unsupported devices: https://senk9.wordpress.com/2010/12...ogle-apps-gapps-on-your-android-device-phone/
Once you get Play Store working, Titanium Backup is an app you can install from there. Using root, it can uninstall any app you want.
Be careful with all this, if you're not you could break your phone.
educated dummy
Thank you so much! - and such a fast reply too!!!
I really apprecate your patience in explaining this all to me.
It sounds relatively straight forward - I will have a look at those progs and link you suggest tomorrow.
Obviously I dont want to break the phone either, then it would be more useless then it is already
Fingers crossed - will let you know how I get on.
Hi all,
Watched the video so I thought I would tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
Just bought a cheap star a3 dual sim android phone. This my foray into android phones and I am having some weird issues. Just a first note I have just rooted the phone but these issues where here before and after rooting. The A3 is a htc sensation clone i believe when my other half who has a htc desire tries to call the phone the phone goes straight into answer phone and rejects the call, she is on giff gaff in the uk and i have tried both a 3 network and orange sim and it happens on both. There is some weird chinese security software that I trying get remove but its seems very stubbon. Anyone any ideas. Ps battery life is awfull i only seem to get 6 hours from full to dead without hardly any use. Maybe I have loads running but unsure what I need to keep running.
Please help.
I have the star a3
Google play works perfectly. If you PM me, I am happy to send you the apk file for google play.
since you are rooted, I strongly suggest you get root explorer installed so you can go through and remove all the chinese apps.
Make sure you remove "himarket" its a big battery hog.
To the person who says their calls go straight to voicemail, remember this is a dual sim dual *standby* if you are using 2g or 3g cell data on one sim then the other sim cannot make or receive calls.
Also, there is no ICS for the Star A3, its just a skin on top of Gingerbread to make it look like ICS, if you go to settings, about phone and look, the version number will be 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 which means its gingerbread (if you really do have 4.0.1 ICS I would love to get a copy of the ROM for it!)
I've just bought this rooted AT&T M8 from Amazon and through the HTC Transfer Tool I've been able to transfer all my messages and system settings from my old phone. I noticed during the transfer that the files 'documents,' 'pictures' and 'music' had error icons next to them and didnt transfer.
Bluetooth transfers, USB transfers, HTC sync manager WILL NOT WORK. I cant even download Chrome from the Play Store ithout the store crashing including other random apps that also behave the same. HTC Zoe tries to update and the store crashes
The previous rooter must have done something horribly wrong but I have no idea what that could be. I believe I'm using a SkyDragon M8 v2 ROM but would love to be able to start from scratch on stock and maybe root it myself
PLEASE, PLEASE HELP. SUPER INCONVENIENT, NO THREADS HAVE HELPED SO FAR.

1: download RUU (either zip to SD card or exe file)
2: run RUU.
3: fastboot oem task 28
4: fastboot oem task 29
5: try again.
Note: this will completely wipe the device and put it to stock condition (minus lock/s status)
If still errors, manually copy the files over using a PC. If none of those work, you could have a bad nand partition.
