** Credits for the ED05 ODIN package, which contained this modem, goes to pentafive and his thread here **
** ED05 is now the latest official Verizon Wireless OTA update available for the Fascinate, as of July 28, 2011. This means that this is the latest radio available as an Odin package that is official. **
This is my first contribution to the XDA community, so if this helps click the thanks button
The following is the radio taken from the ED05 leak and packaged in an Odin-able tar. This will only flash the modem and nothing else.

This can be used with AOSP (like CM7, MIUI, OMFGB, etc.) or TouchWiz (stock, PowerWashed, Com Rom, Evil Fascination, MIUIWiz, etc.) roms.
How to flash:
1.) Turn off your phone.
2.) Plug USB cord into computer, then hold down volume down button while connecting the cord to the phone. It should enter download mode.
3.) Start up Odin, press the PDA button (don't use the PHONE button!!) and select the ed05_radio.tar.md5 file. Press start to flash.
4.) Done! The phone will boot normally with the new modem.
MD5 hash of download (ed05_radio.tar.md5): 291555fcf0b27c09ed2d5610d5a63747
* Adding this because this is an answer to a common question: just the ED05 modem does nothing to fix the missed call issue. The fix seems to be in the ED05 kernel. *
On CM7 7/20 build. Here's the some speed tests I've done on ED05. The download speeds were a bit slower, but the upload speeds were faster, but more importantly stable.

[Edit]
Nevermind, I'm getting amazing battery and stability of connection with this. Used navigation for 30 minutes and around 4 hours of music. Lots of texting and messaging as well.

Depends what your looking for the most in the modem. I found this modem to give me better upload speeds and about the same download speeds then the EC09 modem, which is about the same result that BrwnSuperman got. It also seems to drain the battery slightly more then EC09, but it doesn't seem that noticeable. Signal looks about the same, maybe less (in signal bars) as EC09.
Is this the supposed update to fix the missed call problem?

Check the thread on the full odin package. Says there that the modem alone does not seem to fix it, but the rom does. *sad*

Yep, just the modem by itself seems to do nothing to fix the missed call bug on TouchWiz. Only the full leak would fix it since it looks like a kernel issue. Still, CM7 does not have this missed call problem anymore regardless of modem (using it right now on MIUI and it works fine).
I can say that I don't recall having any missed calls since switching to CM7

How come there aren't any screenshots for that rom as with others..I don't know anything about CM7...you can't just flash it wit CWR or ODIN...so I am a little cautious that I would screw something up..I have heard that CM is very good...but need more info on it..

Probably has something to do with Deep Sleep. I wonder if that is why it took so long to fix in CM7 because the framework has been broken in TouchWiz all along.

So where is the fascinate on that site..says its supported but only shows i9000 on their forms...
And I knew about the cyanogenmod.com...I was referring to more info on the specific build for the fascinate on XDA..all other roms have much better instructions on the op including screen shots...there is still a lot of bugs isn't there?
And as far as let me google that for you...don't know if that was meant as an insult or not..but that was funny as hell...so i'm lazy..got 18 tabs in firefox right now, running tripple monitors, 4 laptops and a bunch of other crap I am tinkering with...I never knew about that site...I have got to try that on my computer illiterate grandpa...

From your signature I assume you're using Mik_os's CM7 port? Correct me, if I'm wrong.
If that is the case, get rid of the fix, slap on the old baseband with lgmdp and you're done! Mik_os's ROM uses the old baseband, not the new one (the Rom isn't based on the official 2.3.3).

Yes you can use KIES for updating, if there ever is one in the phone's lifetime.
This is for the AT&T Galaxy S2 - i777, just making sure you have the same one.
Flashing this on International gs2 i9100 can probably do some horrible things to your phone.

When you open and run mobile Odin it says it never flashes boot loaders. And looking at the screenshots you will not see anything about boot loaders in it either. I have used mobile Odin in the past when flashing i9100 rooms and didn't want the boot loaders. So NO it won't flash boot loaders ever.

Good conversation, good help from others have been a strong point, these guys help a lot, feel free to join if you feel you are getting no help anywhere. Omega is one of the EASY ones. DATA WORKS WITH CORRECT APN SETTINGS PERIOD!
Not going into details here...but
Back up current rom
Wipe dalvik/cache/data
Flash Omega
before you boot Omega, flash YOUR kernel from here
Reboot
Add Verizon apn settings manually
Reboot
Enjoy!
What did not work?
BTW, didn't see you ask any questions in my thread.

haven't used it before, I say yes, but depending on the rom you choose to run. you can add the settings manually. easy
I would love to try this but the verizon backup assistant thing scares me. Basically I can't turn this off from the verizon end. I would love to know what kind of messages I will get if that is not turned off. Does it keep coming?
I'd still like to see proof and exact steps with data working. I've tried multiple times and it was a no go so I would suggest VZW users not waste their time until someone confirms data is a go.
Edit: Appears Sprint users are having the same problem. Sorry bro, but you are acting like you personally tried these ROMs on various devices when the fact is that you can only speak for the AT&T variant. Just because stuff is working for you does NOT mean it will work for CDMA users.

I have 2 users, one being verizon, and one sprint, that have verified, but I have not got screenshots from them as of yet, I believe you may be correct until I have proof. I will have an answer soon.

Thanks for uploading this. I have a question for you though. I installed this and everything went well but my flashlight app is gone, and I can't get my camera to open. Can you tell me what I did wrong? I appreciate any help. Thanks.
Thanks for all your efforts
Thanks once again for your efforts. AS suggested by you before, I am on 1.29 with bullet proof kernel.
Is this 1.27 worth effort going back for better audio during calls? I am getting wobbling voice during on call with speaker.
And also when i clicked stock kernel to download it says Nocturnal M7 stock. so is it not stock HTC/Tmobile kernel?
Thanks in advance

Should I just flash this instead of that TWRP backup you gave me in order to get my phone back to stock? Or will I be left with the same issues?
Hi,
Wondering if we need a corresponding firmware.zip for 1.27.531.x if we want to truly get back to stock after the 2.24.x update comes out for us on T-mobile?
I was thinking once the 2.24.x update hits us we're going to get a firmware update that could prevent us from getting back to stock 1.27.531.x for warranty purposes. Or if you just don't like 4.2.2 and you like 4.1.2 better.
I know we can flash the stock nandroid backup, but I'm thinking that stock nandroid based on 1.27.531.x won't work on a 2.24 firmware and updated hboot?
Or am I completely off and that nandroid would restore an updated firmware and hboot back to to 1.27.531.x?
(Man, really showing my noobish behavior today!)

If u jumped the gun and upgraded Ur firmware and used the 4.2.2 then u'll need to run an ruu or flash the correct fw.

Thanks.
Since we don't have an RUU from T-Mobile, do you have or recommend a 4.1.2 firmware for T-mobile users to go back to that would work with your stock 1.27.531.x roms?

I need a couple of testers for a Senseless (both meanings of the word) ROM that I'm putting together. It is nothing too special, but with your help it might be decent. It is not Android 4.0+, but merely Honeycomb.
I'll take the first two people to reply to this post. I'll get them a testable ROM in the near future and they can have at it.
Maybe we can breath some much needed life into this forgotten tablet!
WiFi Error
I have tested your ROM and I think it's very well done! I only have one problem however. After following the Aroma install (I selected to replace the kernel so WiFi would work) my WiFi reports an error and will not connect to anything. I tried reloading the ROM several times and still no joy. I don't see anyone else having an issue with this so I'm wondering what I missed. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Your ROM was my first install from the stock OS that comes from HTC.
Thanks in advance

I forgot to mention that I also tried installing the DoomLord Kernel WiFi Module.zip to fix and it didn't help.
In order for Hive to work you should have Hive kernel installed -- either via Hive installer or fastboot. Hive also requires the WiFi modules that it installs because only they pair with Hive kernel -- and not any other kernel.
The installer asks you if you want to install the kernel and I've never heard of this failing. Are you sure that you selected this option? For 99% of people just pressing [Next] for every question in the installer is the best option.
After the install your Settings->About->Software information->More should look like the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

I suggest that you install again and verify as per above. If the kernel did not flash then you'll be the first second to report this. I don't know why some users encounter problems, but there is a manual method to install the kernel (the hive_x.zip /boot.img file) which you can perform.
To manually install the kernel take the following link to a tutorial on How to flash a new boot.img via Fastboot.

I think you nailed the problem right on the head with the Kernel on my tablet being incorrect. My tablet reports:
Kernel Version
2.6.35.10-g01487c4
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 3 05:14:25 CST 2011
Baseband Version
1.04.5501.15v2_30.60.550I.10P
Build Number (same as yours)
I did exactly as you prescribed by basically hitting next for all of the options in Aroma and had the same result. I'm somewhat familiar with Fastboot so all I would need is the Kernel.img to flash and I should be good to go right? Maybe the modem.zip also since they have to be mated and it may be that this file isn't flashing as well?
Thanks for your help with this
Chad

That baseband differs from the one that is that same on both of my tablets, but I don't know if that is related.

You are the first to report this, so I'll have to look into why. Both of my tablets are from Rogers. Is yours from AT&T? For now we'll have to rely to fastboot to address your problem.

You will just need the boot.img that is in the / directory of the Hive archive (hive_x.zip). Once you boot the tablet to Fastboot then you just need to fastboot flash boot boot.img.
I don't think you'll have to do anything with the radio since I've never heard of a radio image for the Jetstream before.
Let me know how it goes.
Kernel Issue Fixed
Just wanted to send an update. Your hunch about the Kernel being the problem was spot on. For some reason the Kernel wasn't flashing with the use of Aroma but when I went into ADB it flashed just fine and now WiFi works!
I do have an AT&T Jetstream. I'm not sure why that would be the cause but maybe you're onto something about the baseband being different that may be the cause. Either way I'm up and running now!
Thank you SO SO MUCH for the help with this! Although there aren't many of us left with a Jetstream I share your thoughts about the tablet still having a good value. I hope that someone will be able to help us up the OS to Jellybean or KK someday.
Take Care!
Chad
You can also try Hive II beta -- since it has an updated installer. I doubt that it fixes your kernel flashing issues, but it is possible. I wasn't going to release a beta, but with your situation it makes sense.
Even though you have solved the kernel problem you may still want to try this.

Just installed Hive III today (thanks!!!) and even though the aroma install proceeded seemingly without error, it did not flash the kernel.
I've done it manually and everything is now looking good, including WiFi.
This is an AT&T model.

I have no idea why some Jetstreams reject the AROMA kernel install and others do not. It has always worked on my devices.
I'm glad that you got it working via fastboot.

Long time no see, how are you?
Sorry didn't managed to catch up again, too little time back home, busy.....
Anyway, @onejay09's open source could shed some light for this Jetstream poor baby, unfortunately I don't know any of it, most hardcore keyword that could leapfrog us are some complex ION thingy worked and forego the something about old_panel_driver from/off something about msm_fb. Hope this helps. Good luck !!!

I will have a look at that source. However, I think that cobbling something together would be a huge undertaking without a working reference Android 4.x+ ROM. Beginning and ending its life in Honeycomb means that Jetstream ROM source was never open.
Being back home must be great, glad to hear.
Thanks for responding, while reading through 109 pages onejay09 said the chipset is 7x3 and not real 8x3 or something. Page 59, in short it's so old. Could this be one of the same obstacles for Jetstream? I don't know. Well, good luck to us all.
