Need help! I tried running through the steps to install pre-rooted gingerbread on my dx2 and everything was going well till the reboot, now the phone won't get past the motorola M "dual core" screen. I can get back to stock recovery, I've tried wiping the phone but no dice, so I've sbf-ed back to froyo through RSD lite and then the phone starts up fine. Tried installing pre-rooted GB three times and it always ends the same :-( Probably just being a moe.ron but I have no idea what else to try. Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to try and help!
-desperately wanting rooted gingerbread
Sbf to gingerbread and find the thread on one click gingerbread root method.

Gotta root froyo, then use the bootstrap to install that file. Now that we have the sbf for gingerbread and the one click root...you don't have to go to froyo and take all those unnecessary steps, just flash the gingerbread sbf. Just make sure you wipe data before the sbf...it usually eliminates a bootloop.

Yesterday I installed CM7, I did everything according to the tutorials, I am running kernel 2.3.4. This morning I was recording a video of my daughter, but suddenly the camera forced closed and I was unable to access the camera, so I restarted my phone. Unfortunately my phone got stuck on a boot loop, so I tried wipe data/factory reset. Now my phone is stuck on the motorola logo and I don't know what else to do.
I tried applying update from sdcard but signature verification fails.
It sounds like you are going to have to sbf. That's the only downside to beta testing. Unexpected things might happen. Signature verification failed because when using stock recovery, the update.zip needs to be signed by moto.

Thank you, I just sbf and everything is back to normal. First time installing custom rom, so I kinda panicked when the phone got stuck on the dual core logo!
I did the same thing. Sbfing will be your best friend and worst enemy lol

I've been trying to get CM7 on my X2 unsuccessfully for about two hours, here's the process I took.
I saved all my stuff, and erased everything on the phone using the Android Recovery. I went back to 2.3.4 using RSDlite, then Root using Pete's Tool and installed OTA Protect. I then installed Bootstrap, installed recovery, went to recovery mode, installed CM7, and then GAPPs. Now, I wipe data, clear the cache, clear the davlik cache, and reboot. Now, this is where I just get stuck at the M Dual Core Technology Screen.
I searched the forum for answers, but I couldn't really my problem. It seems CM7 just isn't booting for me. I have tried this 2-3 times already, please help me out!
Why did you install ota protect? And make sure you are properly rooted and that the sbf worked... check your about phone screen to make sure... all I know is to sbf again and start from the beginning.
Edit: also did you install the patched bsr.apk for cm7?

I've had to sbf more thwn once to get my X2 to get up and running. I would say to try and sbf again and instal the patched CM7 BSR. If u have any other questions, u can always pm me and ill do my best to help u outout
STEEL BLUE CM9X2
SBF 2.3.4
Root phone
Install regular BSR
Flash CM and Gapps
Wipe data (not cache DATA)
Boot CM
Load BSR for CM7
You CAN NOT boot CM with regular BSR loaded , hence the wipe Data before booting.

Hey there guys
Well im having a problem with my photon right now...
I Had my photon unlocked and rooted , flashed the sprint leaked radio , and when i rebooted back no signal so i was like o alright i'll just sbf to stock and do the whole root , unlock process again
I powered down my phone , went into rsd mode , selected the 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf and clicked start , after a couple of minutes the rsd said , please manually reboot your phone , but my phone screen was on , so i left the phone sitting and then it started to boot , but it was stuck in a bootloop , going into the sprint white screen and then back to the dual core and so...
so what should I do to get my phone back ?
thanks in advance
Unlock your phone via derpunlock.sbf
Install custom recovery via fastboot
Wipe system data cache in recovery
Sbf 198_7

Also for future reference you can go in to the stock android recovery and do a factory reset after sbf, that is what fixed my bootloop after hours of disappointment.
i tried to go into the stock recovery after i got the bootloop problem and it gave me a blackscreen with a big exclamation sign and the android guy , weird huh?

Not weird. That is the stock android recovery with the android guy and exclamation mark. To access the options, you need to press the Volume Up + Volume down buttons together and it should give you the options to do a factory reset.

K, so i was looking for some different boots and and was going thru a few and rebooting.. no problem. Found one i liked thru rom toolbox, it was a different aokp boot. Im running aokp 6 so decided i liked it. CLicked on install from rom tooolbox and went to reboot to see if it took and wala.. i have a boot loop. Removed the battery umpteen times, cleared the cache partition from recovery but it wont let me into the phone. All i get is the big m then the boot anim and the recycle, over and over. is there any other way to get back in. Gonna go back to stock boot once i get in but getting there is the problem...
i formatted /wiped data.... still boot loopin. so do i have to sbf again?
Pull the battery, then put the battery back in and plug it into a charger. That should get you to bsr and from there reflash your rom.

he already wiped date, bsr is gone

You gotta SBF. Never use ROM Toolbox on the X2.
Yea I sbf'd last night. Back in working order. I only had stock recovery and nothing worked. Thank god I had a backup. Yea and I did not reinstall from TV. Live and learn. Thanks guys
It was bootlooping because of memory running out and it would crash. For ics roms its best to leave boot animations as they are to insure that what you experienced doesn't happen.
