Sensation roms - HTC EVO 3D

I was thinking since our phone is so similar wouldn't it be possible once we have s-off to flash roms for the sensation also?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App

no..............

Never. Never would you ever be able to flash a ROM from another phone onto yours without porting.

FAIL.....10chars

Even though they are similar, I believe the major thing is the GSM radio vs CDMA radio. It would mean that porting a sensation rom would be much easier than say porting a Moto droid rom.
Hopefully a Hero guy will chime in here with tons more info. They had a GSM counterpart too.
By the way FAIL and No........ is of no help to anybody and just means wasted scrolling to find any real info.

We had a some gsm stuff on the heroc but also a great deal from the eris (verizons heroc clone)

Not sure if it's the same, but I remember when I had my Inspire 4G, I flashed several ROMs from the Desire HD forums

Not sure

Can the OG Evo roms be supported on the 3D?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Maybe ported, but I don't see it happening. Its the Sensation and Evo3d RoMs people want on their EVO 4g's.
Nope, unless as phatman said it it has to be ported. Boot image, drivers and a whole host of other items must be taken into account for it and be put in to just to boot. Then making sure everything works, wifi Bluetooth..etc. I am trying to port the htc shift 4g, my first rom...and let me tell you..it is not fun. I miss some of the great roms we had for the OG evo. This is changing as more developers learn about the internals of the new sense 3.0 and the internals of our bad beast.

is e3d gsm dead?

we have pretty much no kernel devs..
all roms look the same.. jus one active cm9 rom..
leedroid's gone
what jus happened?
The HTC One, and The EVO 4G LTE.
That's what happened.
The Next Sentence Is TRUE.
The Previous Sentence Is A LIE.

Loads of roms in the GSM section.
MDJ left recently becuase just one, yes just one person, insulted him. The hundreds and hundreds of grateful posters didn't count for anything. Seems a shame.
Well, it's not really dead, yet.
Keyword yet..
There's still a few Devs on there that update their ROMs, but I find that there isn't really anything to choose from anymore.
any working dev have the stockish rom with a few tweaks.. like v6 charger and stuff.. nothing too special..
anryl has some work but he's busy too.. yea mdeejay left *can anyone temme what happened?*
chad was a good dev.. too bad about what happened..
last of what i heard, leedroid doesnt have a 3d anymore..
even cdma has more roms.. *they're all the same kinda roms but still*
wtf did xda do ._.

I guess since the ICS came out everyone just decided to leave. CDMA will stay alive as long as Dropzeroc and il Duce are still supporting their Rom. It's one of the biggest roms out there (In my opinion)

I've also noticed Evo 3d appears to be dying. Well, at least slowing down at the moment.
Don't upgrade just because that's what others are doing, especially if you can't afford to. It's a good phone. Hopefully more development will start on cdma/gsm. The specs on this phone are good. I came from the Nexus S 4G which has weaker specs but the development was good. We have plenty of Sense, but it would be cool to see more AOSP roms for the 3D though. I would think about Android development, but I've only compiled a rom and moved apks into an existing Rom etc. Unless someone wants to show me the ropes. More development the longer the relevance.

I thought I won't have to buy a new phone for at least 2 yrs to have newest android version. Here in polish reality its quite a big amount of money to spend to have such a phone. Sensation seems to have more devs but it has a bit worse specification. Don't want to upgrade, it costs too much. I'd buy nexus but it's design and battery sucks. Also sense is important to me. I could resign from 3d functions (who needs it...) to have always newest android version. Would be great. But I see many people outside of Poland upgrade their phones just if there comes a new one... I want to keep mine working for a few years, I'm happy with it. I don't belive the new Android will need tegra 3 to work properly. Two cores at 1.2 GHz really lasts for me. Only software is the problem I see.
Please correct my english mistakes, I'll be gateful

Same in Czech. Such phones are just too expensive.

but its not jus another phone that i can upgrade..
i'd only upgrade when there's a quad core based 3d phone.. otherwise its not really an "upgrade"..
i think htc should come up with a real successor to evo3d.. i know i'd buy it..
like a high end sorta phone.. not like lg.. ._.
It's funny, since Jelly Bean was released, I've been wanting to give up on my Evo 3D and get a Galaxy Nexus. HTC is really being lazy with our phone (I have the GSM version) and it took them EIGHT freaking months to release ICS. That's way too much time, especially given the development pace of Android these last few months. I can't even imagine if they decide to release JB or not. Probably not though. *sigh*
It's a shame because I really think the Evo 3D is a great piece of hardware and is capable of running JB just fine. And the 3D features give it a little something more over the competition (even though, I'll admit it, they're not essential).
Not to mention LeeDroid being absent (for personal reasons I totally understand, don't get me wrong here), the GSM scene only has a couple of decent ICS roms. Having browsed both threads, they don't seem as polished as LeeDroid's (no offense to the devs').
But anyway, sorry for my rant here. Just my 2 cents.
CDMA 3D's havent even received an official ICS update yet, but to compensate that we have some great development around, Virus makes multi (GSM/CDMA) 3D roms (sense 4) they are nightlys but pretty stable for the most part, and we have a port of JB on the 3D but nothing on the LTE not even official CM support just tweaked up stock roms atm

Evo 3D gsm is/has been dead, all the stuff the great devs on this section have done is given it to us and do as we please with it. I'm still running gingerbread for a daily driver ROM which is so good that even people with Jelly Bean nexus' struggle to understand how its this good
HTC don't help with releasing kernel sources 90 days after they release a ROM (policy ...wtf to that one)
Expelling people didn't help either, although this isn't about that because if someone goes USUALLY another person fills the gap but in this case because the Evo 3D forums are so opinionated nobody is interested
Long story short, 4chan 2.0.

[Q] cdma to gsm?

was wondering how hard it would be to take a cdma rom and make it usable on a gsm phone. any info would be nice
*edit: read the post completely wrong, its possible, people have done it, thought you meant converting a cmda PHONE to gsm, not a rom woooops
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
It is possible, though not easy.
There is a tutorial about it in the GSM forum, a bit old by now though, but perhaps still useful.
But if you aren't experienced with building Roms and such at all, I wouldn't suggest trying.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
Sounds like too much work involved.
Just learn from others, if you do a port make sure you either use it for your own personal use or get approval, permission before
my evil evo is wired on sense 4.1 viper 3d with a dose of the infected kernel
Here you go. Good tutorial.

[Q] AT&T HOX+

Folks,
Should we use the same forum for AT&T version of HOX. I mean for rooting and stuff like that. I just ordered mine via AT&T today. Exicted
To add a question on the same topic..
Could we run this forum like the Desire HD. It's the exactly same phone, its just the radios...right? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Clearly not the same as we have some att-purchased x+ brickin Goin on in the development part of this forum
That's sad to see.
Looks like we will have to go the way of the DHD and Inspire 4G. Phones are similar but will require separate dev areas.

Almost all roms worked on the inspire from the dhd.. it was mainly with aosp that you just had to flash the inspire patch but sense roms it didn't really matter but the devs did have to add inspire 4g support which was just a couple tweaks and done
I think we need our own AT&T forum. I believe it would help with a lot of confusion and prevent bricking.

So ATT HOX+ owners should NOT attempt to flash the roms on this forum correct?

Correct.
Which is weird, because AFAIK the One X+ on AT&T just has a different radio chip.

you can check HTC one international forums, so far i tried android revolution hd 7.1 and seems pretty stable and fast
Awesome thanks I figured it was the international variant that was the compatibile Rom ... The one you flashed specifically was that on an att or tmo HTC one ? Did you have to flash the radio separately

All the GSM radios are the same I believe. But if not ARHD 7.1 takes care of the Tmo people. Not sure if it's by flashing a separate radio, though it's not out of the question. Can be done easily within Aroma.
Ahrd doesn't flash a radio the aroma options are for buildprop changes and signal icons.
