Do I understand it correctly that we now have OTA updates or is it just a notification system like in the LG phones?? (Seen in about phone> software update)
and is this an automated service or do we have to check with regular intervals
Kind regards.
Kinda a new SGA user but i never heard of OTA for SGA, only HTC (since my friends use HTC).
This option hasn't been in the fw's up until now (with the exception of leaked 2.3's) that's why I'm curious about it
Nobody ?

Hi!
1. Is there any way to get informed about the official firmware releases from Samsung.
Is there any Blog about this or any option on Kies to get a notification about updates?
2. Another thing: where can i find this leakd Stock 2.3.4 ROM for the SGS2? I just found this DarkyROM...with baaad GUI modifications...i dont like it!
I would like to try 2.3.4 untill Samsung releases the officiall version.
THX!
Usually the leaked versions appear on samfirmware.com first. Intratech has 2 threads in samsung original android development section with released roms, both unbranded and branded ones. Kies prompts you for updates if you are on stock rom, don't know if it still prompts you after changing your rom through Odin.

Samsung blogs are not recent /up to date .
Samfirmware.com about the best next best would be XDA .

can i upgrade my froyo into gingerbread without even rooting my phone?. when i connect my phone to a computer, and then the samsung kies tells me that there is no any firmware version upgrade available for my phone.. anyone can help?
depends on which phone you are using. if it is a captivate on att the lady said that when the update is available you will get an over the air update message
You will only be able to update your phone without rooting when the manufacturer and your carrier decide you can
my phone is Glaxy i9000 S. not the captivate nor wifi. the SuperAMOLED one.
and how will i know if my manufacturer and carrier if they allow me to upgrade?

Or you can alternatively downloade the gingerbread rom for your region/country's device from www.samfirmware.com and flash it manually using Odin Multidownloader ...
Hi, I just wanted to know what is the current official gingerbread version for galaxy S2. I'm currently on 2.3.4 but I see people got 2.3.5 or 2.3.6. According to Kies, it says I have the latest version ie ( 2.3.4). Am I not getting any updates ?

Greetings,
I was wondering if I download some of the OTA firmwares from sammymobile.com and install it on my SIII I9300 would I still be able to get automatic software updates on my SIII (Settings>About phone> Software updates)
To be more precise, currently I am on stock 4.0.4, and I have seen that sammymobile have OTA firmware 4.1.1 for my mobile provider(HR VIP, Croatia) but it also says it is still unofficial.
Not that I care much for those automatic updates or stock firmwares but this really intrigues me.
Thank You all in advance for your answers
No because your device status will change from "normal" to "modified"

There is official 4.1.1 for Croatia. Not sure if it is your service provider or not. As long as your phone is not carrier locked you can use this one. Or you can use a firmware for any of your neighbouring countries
Cheers
