Take the bootanimation.zip file of the animation you want and place it in /system/media/

Can you point us to some nice boot screens!

If you have Root Explorer then this is one way of doing it:

(it includes having to rename the .zip)

Evo boot animation

Will an evo boot animation work if I paste it into the system files and replace my current boot animation?
Vibrant - Bionix V
Yes
I'm assuming you found the answer to this already, but if not...
system/customize/resource paste.. make sure you're mounted r/w (upper-right corner)
As long as its named bootanimation.zip and you have a kernel that supports this. The correct place to put it is in system/media. Use root explorer or super manager.

I was able to get it to work on weekly 5 by manually placing bootanimation.zip in /system/media and changing permissions to rw-r-r.
Don't forget to rename the original file to bootanimation.bak or something similar.

Boot screen

I have Cherrykang installed and so far I am pleased with the performance. But I really like the boot screen animation.
I realize though that with the changes that are most likely coming with Touchpad Android development and me being a flahoholic, I won't be on Cherrykang for too long.
How can I keep the boot animation no matter what rom I flash. In root explorer how can I find it and use it for other roms?
Thanks

The boot animation will be under /system/media as a zip file.

Found it! OK now if.....when I flash another rom I'll copy and paste this one.

Where are boot animations stored on ICS/Sense 4?

I have ICS and sense 4 and I would like to install my own custom boot animation. I have the zip file however I do not know where to put the zip file. The original bootanimation.zip is not in its usual location of data/local. I also did a search on root explorer for bootanimation and it could not come up with any results. So I ask of you, wonderful community, where is the bootanimation.zip located in ICS.
System/customize/resource.

Boot animations must be placed in /system/media and the file must be named bootanimation.zip
Just copy/paste the bootanimation.zip to /system/media using ES File Explorer (make sure Root Explorer is enabled).

What boot animation are you getting on startup? Make sure you delete the existing one(if there is one).

I rename the original to OGbootanimation.zip then I copy the new on into the folder. That way I can delete the experimental file and name the original back if the experimental file won't work. It saves a few steps.
Make sure you're moving the zip file and don't extract it or use CWM on it.
Hm, is it boot animation.zip or sanim.zip?
Have you tried searching the Seraphim thread?

Like others have said, you just need to rename the zip to bootanimation.zip and place it in your system/media folder using ES File Explorer (what I use) or Root Explorer. Then reboot and wallah.
It's never not worked for me. I'm currently running Unofficial CM9, and I replaced the Cyanogen boot with the Galaxy Nexus ICS boot animation, to keep Android tasting Vanilla...
Make sure the permissions are rw-r--r--
it whont worck by anyway man i deleted the samsung boot animation from the seraphim rom and tryed all the methods you guys sayd and still nothing now im only geting the original samsung boot sound

make sure u have the correct kernal that allows bootanimation, another is to unzip it and rezip as store, there should not be any compression with a bootanimation.zip., if u want to upload it, i will test it.
i have an 3.0.8-perf-i717uclc5-cl281649 kernel and how can i upload the bootanimation.zip so you can test it??
