Signal strength - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to display the dbm value in the status bar instead of the traditional bars?

No responses. Thats a bummer. I wonder if I should take that as nobody knows or it's not possible?

Look at Signal Status Bar in Market.

I think you are talking about the google server connection? This would change the color of the signal;data;wifi when connected to it. I think more people didn't like it to be honest. I ended up making it so it was just the data and wifi on the themes I did. I left it out for mattedBlues here.
I think it was different, my Bluetooth icon would change colors when connected to Bluetooth, the signal strength changed depending on strength (a bit like the digital battery that changes on the %
I will have to try and figure out what it was called.

Well Bluetooth already does that and any theme can be setup to do that. But some roms in cappy section used tsmparts which was added into the rom.
This allowed you to modify the status bar to your liking.

[Q] show DB level

I remember some keypad punch I could make my blackberry display the db level instead of the signal bar, is there any way to do this with the photon?

Don't know of a way to do it with the stock one, but if you don't mind it being on top left corner in your notification bar, look at signal status in the market it can show it as bars or as db readings. I couldn't live with out it, had it on my old blackberry as well.
Anything is better then nothing. Ill give it a try, thanks

In search of an app.

I'm looking for an app can capture does on your screen to use for later use. Example: if I wanted my status bar to match my background the app would allow me to click or highlight the background to get the specific for to use for the status bar. Any ideas anyone?

For clarity-i attached a screen shot of my home page, are you asking if there's an app that fills in the black strip that is the status bar. You want the status bar to be the same as said back ground?

No that's not what I mean. For instance if I wanted my status bar to be the same color as one of your icons on your home screen how could I get the exact color for that?

Yea I don't know. I did do some googleing around for my own pleasure and I came up with a few old xda links. The links talked about changing status color but it was in frame work etc...way out of my league. I also looked thru play store and came up empty.

I do not know if this will help but there is an app called super status bar, not sure if it is still on the market but I believe that it is, and you can have your status bar look however you'd like. As far as having it the specific color of something else, you may just have to play around with colors as I've never heard of (but does not mean it does not exist) a program that can copy a color based off of a picture or background. Hope that helps. Best wishes

Location Services "on" Icon

The icon has been on my status bar since yesterday. I dont remember seeing it over the weekend. Anyone else have this one on? Its not the GPS icon. I had to search the web to even find out what it is. Not affecting battery life as I got 14 usable hours yesterday.
I believe if you have Google location settings enabled it shows the icon on the notification bar. Technically it does effect your battery life but only very slightly

Thank you for the response. I found out that it is normal to see it. I found a .zip to remove the icon from the status bar.
Could you give me a link to the zip?

Look in the themes/skins section on this DNA section. Found it there

[REQ] Change signal bars to numerical readout

Back in the day, on my HTC Incredible, there was a mod to change the signal bars into a numerical readout of signal strength (ex. -74dBm).
Has anyone seen something like this for the S4? Is it even possible?

From what I understand, the icons are just image files located in one of the APKs (I forget if it's framework-res or system). You could change it to basically anything, so in theory, yes it is possible. I don't have the time or knowledge to put a ton of effort into this, though =(
