Hi all,
i know this question has been posted many times but it didn't really help for me. I've flash my phone to 2.3.4 and root it with CF-ROOT. I checked my phone storage and internal memory is still left with 700+M.
However when i install apps by running APK or installing them from market, it keeps prompting that there is insufficient storage.
Its definately not any issue with the market because i used the new market and the old one and even running apk direct, it still gives me the same problem.
Is there a hard limit in the phone that sets some memory for internal use thus i can't use the 700M left?
Not my device (I'm running an original Fascinate with custom ROM), but have you tried booting into recovery and wiping the Dalvik Cache?
Once you do this and reboot the device, it will take a few minutes to reach the main screen as the cache has to be rebuilt.
It worked for me, though I had to wipe the darn thing several times as I was reinstalling all my apps.
Hope this helps,
Wook

My wife has an eLocity A7+ tablet (running Android 2.2 - rooted - stock ROM - with 4GB internal storage). She was trying to install an app and received a warning that the install could not be completed, due to lack of storage space. After checking, I was surprised to see she had 0.00kb of internal storage remaining. I removed all of her downloaded apps, cleared all app caches, and cleared her browser history. No change. I then manually deleted dalvik-cache to free up ~60mb, then did a factory reset and reinstalled her firmware with no further change in available space.
I happened to notice there were many remnants of old apps (e.g., folders, photos, videos, etc.) still existing on the tablet, so am now also wondering why the tablet was not fully wiped with the re-flashing and factory reset.
Is there anything else I could try to fix this?
Cheers!
it must be a hardware problem

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think it's hardware related... I could be wrong though. It seems to me the internal storage is just not getting cleaned (maybe a bloated database, cache, temp file, etc.). I've tried searching through the folders, but just can't seem to find the culprit(s). Is there a way to format / wipe the internal storage or the entire tablet before re-flashing??? I've tried a few apps that are supposed to help, but with no success. I'm going to try another (SD Maid) when I get home from work, but was hoping there may be some other tricks I coult try as well.
Fixed!!!

UPDATE: Fixed it with SD Maid Pro. Now I have 1.50GB free space.
I just recently rooted my GN2 for Verizon and everything has been working great, except that I keep getting this error with almost every app I try to install. I used titanium backup to move the files over to the sd card and I even changed the android default app install to the sd card as well. Is there something I'm missing? Are we bound to a small ROM partition or something? I'm shocked that I'm still showing almost 10 gigs of internal storage free yet I can't install a 10 meg app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!!
Ended up clearing the cache and wiping all the data. That seemed to have worked. Hopefully the issue doesn't come back. Any clue what the root cause of this may be? I've seen countless threads on it and every single one seems to resolve it differently.
Hey there!
I found myself in a small pickle today.
I tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.
I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't help at all.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Perform a factory reset
before installing new rom.
Thank you for your reply, but unfortunatelly it doesn't work.
Any other ideas?
It really seems odd, because the du -hd1 command from terminal doesn't show what is that big. It shows 2.4 GB, from which the memory card is 2.1 GB located in the /mnt folder.
Is there any way that I can wipe all data from the phone?
AW: [Q] Internal memory 100% full after trying out more ROMs
Cwm has the option to clean up the SD card or under the android settings. Maybe every before and after the flashing process backups of your system?
I THINK U WIPE EVERYTHING using(EXCEPT RECOVERY)
ADT.......
THEN FLASH A NEW ROM
HIT THANKS IF HELPED.....
Hi,
I have galaxy s2 i9100 phone. Internal memory 8 GB, and no external sd card. Its running 4.1.2 jelly bean. official rom. the problem with my phone is that when the phone is restarted i get the " preparing sd card: checking for errors" and it takes a long time to go away. during that time i cant do anything like taking a picture or accessing memory. after that when i goto application manager to clear cache of an app or uninstall an app, no app is showing its size. then after like 10 or more minutes the apps start showing their sizes one by one.
during this time if i click any app to see if i can uninstall the app or clear cache etc i see computing..... infront of everything.
and it takes quite a while to compute. Eventually it is computed and all the sizes cache size is showing but if i click to clear data or clear cache the button appears to be clicked but nothing happens i have to close the application manager and open it after like 10 mins to find out the cache has been cleared. all this is also effecting my phone performance. The apps are very slow. I dont get any facebook or any other notification on time. I get them like an hour late. This didnt use to happen before. The phone is sluggish and often freezes and i have to take out the battery to make it work again.
I did everything i could find. I factory reset it, did wipe all data and even reflashed and factory reset it but all that did was make it work normal for a day or two and then all these problems start again. I searched alot but couldnt find any topic relevant. No body has mentioned this application manager problem etc and phone being slow etc. And many of the posts are about external sd card but i have no external sd card. Could someone please help me.
Hi,
Friends i need your help really badly.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 smart phone running stock 2.3.4.
Problem is that i have few applications and these applications keep giving me fore close errors.
I tried connecting my mobile with my pc and format the internal storage. It gets cleared too. But as soon as i remove the device and re-connect it with my pc all the files/folders come back as they were before formatting.
I tried to Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik cache and install various versions for custom roms. But all of these roms result in boot loop.
I am not a noob and i have tried almost everything to get it to boot. But the only rom that works is the stock 2.3.4. and that too does not start properly.
And as per my guesses it is the internal memory that is not letting my phone run normally.
Kindly help !!
Thank you.
