Eris in magazine - Droid Eris General

Did anybody else get a magazine/minicatalog from Verizon about droids. Had information and accessories for the Droid x 2, incredible 2, Samsung charge, incredible, and our ERIS! WINNING!

Location Based Notifications

one of iOS 5's big new features are the notification based alerts/notifications that will built into their new update.
I see that there r some apps one the market currently that try to utilize this technology (notably Geo Note), but Apple will undoubtedly set the standard for fully realizing this idea...for now.
A couple of dev buddies of mine who are iphone users think this will be another game changer. Thoughts???

My cousin was showing me that last night. Thought it was kinda cool. Don't know how useful it would actually be. I figured there were prob already some apps out there like that our would be shortly. Don't think its a game changer.

I haven't seen it myself. And I will certainly allow for the fact that my friends will use anything to trash on android...

Locale is the big android location app. It's been around for years. Having used it I'm not sure what kind of game changer it will be. Location based services are terrible on battery life.

The iOS5 location based notifications are a little different I believe.
For example, you can set it for when you leave somewhere, it might remind you to get your keys. Something to that extent.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Its pretty neat at a technical stand point, but I for one wouldn't use it because it probably has a big impact on battery, so I wouldn't leave of on for half an hour just to get reminded about my keys or to stop by a grocery store.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Just out of curiosity, given maybe 8 meters for good GPS reception would it really be useful since you'd already be well out the door before it could remind you?

I usually realize I forgot my keys when I try to unlock my car. Sounds more like a cheesy gimmick.

He's just speculating about the big brother stuff. Nome of us are important enough for the tracking information to be important. You're crazy if you think you are, and should ditch your smartphone. You're always traceable with it.

Ya the other day I was out with my iPhone and I tripped and fell. Apple called to ask if I was OK.

If you didn't have the Note or Note 2, what phone would you most likely be using now?

For me, I think Samsung Galaxy S III hands down. Runner up would be the HTC One X. That's also a very good looking phone.

Man, SGSIII is taking over the android market now. More power to Samsung!

I would probably still be using my 4.5 Samsung Infuse, running AOKP JB.

Same.
I would probably have tried to get a HOX if I didn't love the note so much.
Probably some cheap flip phone. Kinda getting tired of paying 190$ a month for 2 phones when neither me or my wife make calls and send maybe 500 texts a month and now wifi is at 9/10 of the places I visit.

Reminds me of a time before these nice android tablets, I got a Samsung Q1 Ultra and hated windows and linux on it, so I ported Android-x86 donut to it.
Just a little after that the Streak came out and I felt like I wasted my time and money.
I had an AT&T HTC One X, but I got it early and I kept getting emails from people saying that they tried calling me but I never got the calls.
I returned it and got the Note.
I would probably also be on an sgs3.
HTC one x.which I have... tried the s3. Didn't impress me at all.. still waiting for my perfect phone. If the one x had a SD slot and a battery u can swap out. That would be my perfect phone.

About Refurbished "Like-New" Phones

I may have to send my phone in for a replacement, having grey bars all over the bottom of my screen. Like the titles says, what can i expect with getting a refurbished phone?
Thanks in advance

Would it be better to get a refurbished phone or try to get a gently used new/different phone off eBay or craigslist?

At least get a fully functioning refurbished if it will not cost you anything.
It will have more resale value than your current phone. Then buy/sell/trade.

I just received a refurb and it was like new quality.:good:

I like the DNA but there is no ad card but the butterfly is very expensive then again the butterfly is international and no carrier brand it so hard to choose
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Id look at the development community. OTG on the DNA solves the external sdcard issue in my opinion because you can just plug up a flash drive or hard drive.
If it was me making the decision, I'd go with the dev community I felt best about and was in tune with. I gave 700 for my DNA so I could have bought about anything, and I chose the DNA and am VERY happy with it. Several of my good friends are developing for it.

1. The DNA is built better
2. Better development
3. lte capabilities
4. More parts available in case of repairs
5. Better price
I cant take nothing away from the butterfly but personally I think the DNA is a better choice
