[Q] Stock rom with CM7 Bluetooth stack? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
i like the stock rom with touchwiz, but i also would like to use the wiimote app which only works with an asop bluetooth stack like of cm7 or muiu. is there any chance to implement/use the cm7 bt stack with the stock rom?
cheers
canedha

Would be very nice indeed to have CM7 BT stack, I think its probably reasonably difficult, since nobody has done it yet. Hope I'm wrong!

since a couple of people showed their interest: push

I registered to find out whether i could do this. It's sad to see that nobody has answered this question...

It would be very difficult as the whole lot is tied in with the framework, you could just use touchwizz 4.5 which is a modified version of touchwizz to run on any rom, on cm7

I personally like in tochwiz not only how it looks bit also it's hardware video decoding capabilities, it's overall stability. I also want to play in emulators with Dualshock. Please developers implement CM7 bluetooth drivers in samsung rom.

[Q] Custom ROM's and GPU Acceleration

Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving. On Friday I am going to pick up a Samsung Galaxy S II. I am looking to root is and flash the UnNamed ROM. I have heard that flashing custom ROM's means that GPU acceleration no longer will work. Is this true and are there any ROM's that allow for it to work? Thank you!
Gpu acceleration as far as videos or in general? Samsung does have proprietary codecs to support wmv, avi, etc, that will not work on non Samsung roms, but there are third party apps to help remedy media playing, but they are not perfect.
As far as the GUI and 3d graphics are concerned though, I can assure you that gpu acceleration still works.

Thank you!
If you pay for Dice Player you can play every file the stock player can play and more.
well there is one more caveat... samsung uses gpu acceleration on their launcher to make it buttery smooth... you cant get that on other launchers. but at the same time other launchers aren't as heavy as the sock one. generally i like what Samsung does, they think things through very well.

Diceplayer does have some nice support, however, it does not perform as well as stock when it comes to high profile wmv's and avi's. They still play choppy on any non-samsung roms in my experience, whereas on sammy roms they play super smooth.

What about ROM's that are based on the original/stock ROM, but modified (such as Unnamed)? I'd think that these would retain all the benifits of the stock ROM as long as those specific components aren't removed/replaced. Other than CM7, most seem to be in that category.

You are correct. Roms that are based on stock still have the enhanced gpu support for videos. I suppose I was not being very clear in this regard. Not all custom roms are based on outside sources.
For example, I am using unnamed 1.3.1, which is based on stock and I can still play my high profile wmv 's fine. When I load up any of the miui roms or cm7 roms, however, I lose the enhanced support. Make sense?

[Q] Custom ROMS and HDMI out

Hi,
First off I'm quite new to flashing ROMS and am in no way a developer or programmer more of a intrigued end user of the ROMS developed for the Streak.
I have been using Gingerstreak 2.4.4 since the RC was released but the wifi problem started to become a little annoying so have now switched to Power Rom Lite. What I am trying to understand is why the HDMI video out (I have the AV dock) worked with Gingerstreak but not with Power Rom Lite and is ther anything I can do easily to make this feature work? I don't use it very often but it is nice if I have taken a video and want to show it quickly on the TV.
Cheers,
Jon.
I've no experience with any of these, but I suspect you may be best asking the question in the rom development thread for the rom you are trying to use it on.

He can't. He doesn't have ten posts yet.
Does Power Rom Lite use a different Music Player ("Music.apk") than the stock roms?
If yes, this should be the problem. HDMI out works only with the stock Music.apk (which Gingerstreak uses)
I haven't used Power Rom Lite yet, so this is just a guess

[Q] [cm9] Nook tweaks app

I just updated to ics build!!! its working gr8 most of my apps works gr8 but sound setting on nook tweaks is not working!!! it force closes every time i tried to use it!!! other option works like overclocking and everything else except sound setting!!! any idea what goin on???
thanks to all the awesome devs for making it possible to run ICS on my nook!!! i can now brag to my friends about having ICS device running on my car as entertainment center!!! thank u all so much!!
well considering that Nook Tweaks was not designed for ICS, I would Not expect everything to work perfectly.
That being said I'm using Eyeballers build with OpenGL and I'm not having this issue. his builds can be found here http://techerrata.com/browse/nightly_kangs/encore
keep in mind that ICS on the nook is still very early in the beta stages and a lot of things will not work or not work as intended.</strike>
Update NVM I can open the audio menu but trying to go into the sub menus cause the app to freeze. Just goes to show you ICS is not ready for a Daily driver yet. still lots of work to be done.
Thatz what i thought too....i use my nook color for music and other stuff in my car and that boost on sound would be really good!!!
Looks like the audio boost functionality requires some hooks in the kernel before it can actually do anything. I'm slowly teaching myself this stuff but if I get a chance I will take a look this weekend to see if there's any way to port those parts of the gingerbread kernel over to ICS

[Q] CM7: Netflix Streaming in HD?

Hi All,
I've been trying to figure out how to get my CM7 NT to stream Netflix in the HD quality of the stock Nook ROM.
I've tried several edits to the build.prop (ro.product.____ and ro.build.___), to no avail.
Are there any specific lines in the current CM7 Internal build.prop that prevent Netflix from streaming in HD, like how the NT comes originally? Or is it some other issue with the CM7 build? Has anybody on CM7 gotten this to work?
Many thanks in advance.
Unless there's been a development I'm not aware of as of right now, you can't, it has to do with the fact that hardware acceleration isn't fully supported in non Stock ROMs. In addition the stock app is believed to be coded differently for the hardware.

I wish that part about the stock app was true, but the stock app works identically to the version that you get in the Google Play store. Reinstalling the stock version on CM7 via Titanium Backup gets you the same low-quality video and delayed audio that you'd get on the downloaded app.
But hardware acceleration will be here, it's just taking a little while. We're very fortunate to have Rebellos, a recognized XDA developer, joining the new-kernel project. He says he plans to start contributing to the project in about a week.

Ah, so it's a hardware acceleration issue then, rather than Netflix<-> build.prop device incompatibility? I thought that was done and fixed in the latest CM7 release?
Also stoked to have Rebellos on board.
i thought cm7 had full HW acceleration- and from using it vs using the rooted nook tablet it DOES play movies Better (i can play/stream a bluray.mp4 file on CM7 Fine, it stutters and hangs using the rooted nook(mx video player streaming over my wireless network for both examples) , it is CM9 that is having problem with the ducati timer conflict with backlight timer....the issue is the hd version of netflix if i remember correctly required the locked bootchain blah blah to get the hd version. not sure if that version will run on cm7 i just installed netflix from googlestore and use that.

If that were true, I think we'd already have hardware acceleration in CM9. After all, it would mean that source code for a hardware-accelerated graphics driver on the Nook Tablet was available. The whole reason Rebellos is joining the project is because we lack said source code.
Celtic did fix a video performance bug in CM7, but as far as I know it was mainly related to video playback and decoding, not graphics drivers. I might be wrong about that (I'm not a developer myself, I just follow it closely) but that's what the situation looks like right now.
Like I said, there's no difference between the Google Play downloadable Netflix app and the one that comes with your Nook Tablet. The key difference is the underlying firmware - stock, for some reason, gets HD-quality and synced up sound while CM7 gets low-quality and delayed sound. I've been following this one issue closely since it's my one pet peeve with the custom firmware we've got available. Hopefully, though, the devs will sort it out. They all seem like competent and talented folks.
the problem is 99.9% of the universe apparently for cm9(ICS) uses gptimer 11 for ducati...and the backlight some other timer
the nook tablet -currently- HAS to run the backlight on.....gptimer 11, the devs- i believe- have found a ducati on a different timer and they are working on adapting it to run on the nook tablet, once that is fixed- the cm9 devs will progress faster

[Q] Implementing AVRCP v1.3/v1.4 for i9100 ROM's

Hi there peeps....
I don't post very much because I usually google my way to everything I need to know... but every google I've tried leads me to dead ends on this one!
There are many ROM's out there with AVRCP v1.3 bluetooth. Much respect to those developers!
I have a Kenwood car stereo and it displays Track/Artist/Album information when using Vanilla RootBox/AllianceROM/CM10 etc etc
But, the one ROM which I really love does not support this, MIUI. Every variation I have tried only streams the audio, no track info.
I have tried replacing all bluetooth related files from a known working ROM into the most recent MIUI (of the same Android version) but it just breaks the functionality all together. With Alliance ROM I noticed a service "Samsung AVRCP" when I backed it up using Titanium, I suspect this has something to do with it.
I'm no developer myself but I do have some programming experience (not android though) so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
So...
Q: How does one implement AVRCP v1.3 (or higher) into a ROM?
Bump
