Known issue. Revert back to old market:
Settings, applications, manage applications, all, select market, uninstall updates.
<edit>New market drops data connection. Had same problem myself.

I had the same issue. Thanks for the quick fix!!!!
Also had to freeze Market Updater App via Titanium BackUp (Pro version only) to avoid having to repeat these steps continuously.

I've been having problems with the market recently and downloading apps. The apps start to download and just stop or they will download and not install. My signal is 3G and the strength is around 3 bars. It will eventually download and install after 4 or 5 tries. Anyone else having this problem? And if do did you managed to get fix.

Have this problem before. twice actually. Either:
-force stop market in the 'Manage Applications' in 'Settings', then wipe data and cache. Open up market and see if apps install.
-check if you deleted a Google Talk process, service or some kind (not talking about the actual app). Market fails to install if you deleted that.
If none of these is it, than I would recommend a reflash of a rom or possibly an Odin.

Thanks, its definitely not the deleted Google talk I only freeze apps and I tend to stay away from apps that say good when doing so. I will definatly try what you suggested and see if that works.

I'm running ninja 4.5 and everytime I try to download anything thru the android market, my data freezes up and the download fails. Data doesn't work again either until I turn it off then on again manually thru data settings. Any help. I was like this on .15 radio and same on .30. Anyway to get and use the old market?

I used my backup pro to restore apps after a new rom. Now all of the apps I got through the amazon market are showing as purchased in the google market. Is there a was to completely remove them from the google market. I tried uninstalling bus as soon as it is reinstalled the google market thinks its was installed from there and wants to give it an update, which fails. Also, a few apps i got from amazon for free I want to actually purchase to support the DEV and they already show as purchased in google and will not let me do so. Any thoughts?
*edit* ignore my sig, its old
Never used backup pro but titanium backup has the option to delete market link from specific apps.

Bump....... Anyone?

Well if you paid for them you can just re-download them from the Amazon market instead of restoring them.

I have same issue. For some apps I uninstalled them, then reinstalled them from the amazon marketplace. It didn't work. They still show up in the android market, and it says they need updates (even though they were just reinstalled from amazon marketplace). I think what's needed is a Titanium backup option to "fix amazon market link", or some other way to accomplish that.

You need to disable and re-enable your device from the web site. It's happened to me a couple of times.

Thanks, i'll try that

...looks like it worked. Thanks.
By deactivate do you mean set it to not show in menus? That's the only option I see

He means goto amazon app store on a pc and disable your phone from there, then reenable.

This is going to sound really stupid but the new market (the tiled, dark one) is so slow it's unusable, regardless of which rom I'm using. Things will load eventually but I'm talking 4 or 5 mins per page to load. This is on my normal Huawei router.
By chance I used a different brand of router (at home, same line, same connection speed, etc) yesterday and market loads normally without any slowdown. Back to my own router and it slows right down again.
So my question is, what has changed in the new market that makes my router unable to load it properly? The old market loaded at normal speed, as it should. I can't change routers as the one I was using was just for testing purposes.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Try checking for router firmware updates, then try resetting your router.
Which router are you using?

Thanks for the suggestions, I've checked and it's on the latest firmware. Have also reset the modem but nothing changed. It's a Huawei H520b. I tried a D-link router yesterday and it loaded the marked perfectly.
It sounds like the new market uses some sort of different security settings or something, that my router can't handle. I'm not very techy so wouldn't know which settings to even look at!
Go into settings find the market and select uninstall updates. This will take you bacl to the previous version.
Then grab a program like Titanium Backup Pro and freeze the market updater in the list of apps and then you can stay on the previous version as long as you want...

Thanks, sorry to be a pain but I can't find anywhere to uninstall updates. No option for that, only clear cache. You did mean settings > applications > manage applications > market, or am I in the wrong place?
Much appreciated.
Try Freeze "Android Market 1.0" by Titanium... It work for me
my problem with the new one is it doesnt download more then one app at a time, in reality its better bc they will download faster but i like seeing them all at once lol

I don't have an option to uninstall updates...strange. I should have mentioned I'm not using stock, and I think the new market was included as standard with the Home Base rom I'm using.
I'm going to try to install the old market from an .apk file, see if I can revert back, then uncheck the update function, as suggested.
No big deal, I was just hoping there might be a setting I could change somewhere so I could use the new market.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys
That's a shame because for some on other custom ROMs, they can still use this method.
Oh well for anyone else that's interested. Settings->manage applications->market->uninstall updates.
This is the screen that you should see then and hit uninstall updates in the top right hand corner...

I did freeze the market updater, but I occasionally find the new market back again. Then I restore the old market from Titanium again. I tried the uninstall updates, but it didn't look like the old market so I did the restore. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for info on reverting back to the previous market, the new one was driving me nuts.
Does anyone have an APK of the old Android Market (with the lime green theme) that doesn't have all the ads on the apps homescreen? I have Sprint (obviously) and I live in a desolate corner of Nevada that doesn't have Sprint service (I know that sounds stupid...long story)...so I am perpetually roaming here and my data speeds are virtually non-existant, so when I'm not connected to Wifi the market takes FOREVER to fricken load...Also is there a way to make sure it doesn't update itself?
EDIT: Before anyone replies with a smartass comment I realize "Lojak29" posted an APK of "The Old Android Market" but this is still the newer version and not the one I'm looking for...thank you.

If your Android market is slow on 3G or wifi download "Set DNS" from the market (free) and change the DNS to Google's. I would apply it to wifi and 3G under settings in the app.

I do use the "Masked Crusader" app that applies local Google DNS caching...I imagine thats the same thing right? And if so how does that make it quicker?

If you uninstall the market, it should revert to the version you want. Then to keep from updating, you must be rooted with Titanium Backup where you can freeze the app called Updater.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Market -> Uninstall
You have the latest version of the Market that you downloaded. If you uninstall that one you will have your old market back.
