Hi, i want to flash the new gingerbread rom, however, whenever i try to connect my phone to my PC, no matter which program i use to flash the rom, it shows me that my phone is not connected. pls help me
LG P500 user with cm7 6.5.5 here.
have you installed the proper drivers for your phone? if you havent: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15960064#post15960064
You flashed any other kernel ?
I had the same problem, when i flashed stable 6.5.5 with fk's v1-Gingerbread. It was solved when i flashed just the 6.5.5 variant without fk's v1-Gingerbread kernel.
Cinclusion: right now, i am running the fastest and the most stable rom of the decade
Hope this helps out.

yes then your driver is not installed properly. First of all uninstall all the driver whatever you have installed on your PC. Re-start it.
Download the LG Mobile Support Tool
Install the LG Mobile Support Tool, and while the phone is DISCONNECTED open the program.
Under the Options & Help menu, choose Country & Language. Set your country and English as your language.
Next, on the main window choose to install the USB driver, and choose LGP500 as the model number.
Wait while the app downloads and installs 4 or 5 separate drivers.
USB modem toll in also attached. Only install it if you need.
I'm have the same exact problem, I've tried everything suggested (Mine is the Optimus V). I've scoured the internet and tried almost everything I've found.
- I've un-installed all USB Drivers associated with LG Mobile
- Re-Installed VM670 Drivers, those didn't work
- I uninstalled all USB Drivers Again
- Installed Singapore Drivers and selected P500 (Didn't work)
I spent some time on it this morning and nothing came of it

when you said re-installed, do you mean that you did this?:
open lgmobile support tool
set country to united states
select install usb driver
carrier: virgin mobile
select lgvm670
if thats what you meant, maybe try one of the other models. if you didnt mean that, well go try it

I've done that, I've tried doing different models (P500), I've tried getting the drivers straight from LG's website, I literally have a folder on my desktop with at least 5-7 different sub folders, each with a set of drivers for this phone..nothing seems to be helping.
The reason I'm trying to do this is so I can get LGMDP to recognize the phone

are you using a custom rom from another phone that is compatible for your phone?
what i mean is, i have an optimus t but im using an O1 rom. the identity of my phone lets just say "switched" from lgp509 (optimus t) to lgp500 (O1). so even though you are installing the drivers for vm670, your phone might be "under another identity"

Hi there
I am looking for the USB driver. I have downloaded the Mobile Support Tool for PC from LG website, however, when installing the file, I had a compatibility problem...I am using Windows 7 32 bit.
Appreciate if anyone can help.
Thanks
You can find the drivers on the sd card of the phone. Also if you download the LG Mobile update you can Download the usb driver. Not the LG Mobile software updater.
Open the program, click on install usb driver and then select p500
If for some reason you can't install, i attach the usb driver folder founded in my p500
Thanks. I will give it a go.
Thanks for the drivers
Woo hoo!
Thanks so very much for this!
I tried a bunch from different sources, since LG's b2cappsetup wouldn't install on my computer.

Strange.
I owe you a beer!
I am having trouble installing drivers for my P500 on Windows XP using the B2CApp.
It installs 3 of them:
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN32AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.2.1.exe
LGSmartPhone_ModemlinkDUNDrive_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0.exe
LGWindowsMobile_USBDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0.exe
But even then, my phones not detected on the PC.
Btw, I must mention that I am stuck on the fastboot screen, while trying to do a NANDroid backup, after ROM Manager screwed up with my Custom Recovery installation.
Any idea if the above 3 are enough for me to proceed with the below link, or is there another LG fastboot driver that I might be missing? :

EDIT:
I have fixed the issue. Got the drivers mentioned in this thread:

drivers are only needed for adb to work, since latest franco kernel devices support ums "on the fly" without crappy driver install.
hi every one I finally got he optimus one:-D.
all is good with the phone and i can say that i'm totally happy to have it.
Now with a bit of error part.
it showed the update so decided to go for it.
Installed the lg pc suite.
It detected the phone but while syncing it (lg pc suite) crashes in between.
I'm using windows 7 64 bit.(if this helps)
one more thing i'm confuse about one thing and that is rooting.
I live in india and there are many applications which i dont really need so would rooting would help me get rid of those programs.
If yes then one thing i'm a total noob at all this.
please provide me a link with a detailed.
And please only and only if its necessary.
I am facing the exact same problem. Will try at home today on my XP PC. But am confounded why the software keeps crashing. Tried it on 3 different windows 7 pcs. Have not tried a different downloaded version of PC Suite IV. Also, not able to downgrade firmware or use superoneclick to root the firmware, both hang.
My specs are as follows:
Android 2.2.1
LG software v10c
Does anyone face the same problem or has a solution?
Thanks
Mallik

Anyone have a solution for the ever recurring FOUND NEW HARDWARE?
I'm using windows vista.
already installed drivers for lgp500 but every time i connect the device via usb. my pc wont recognize it. and wont even automatically find the drivers even though i already install all the drivers needed.
Any workarounds?
* I want to change my base band but lgeblahblah wont seem to detect it.
help pls. i want to change my baseband but my pc wont recognize my phone
i had to re-install the lg drivers twice before it started working
one time my sdcard went bad
i assume you have usb debugging turned ON and are hitting "usb connect" when the drivers have updated the phone.
I went with Andy's phoenix rom, he coded in his rom modifications to fix that. Of course Bluetooth still is not working however I use earphones with mic integrated.

if problem is still alive ...
Don't know if you've tried this, but if not:
1.) get LG PC Suite IV for P500, and install it.
2.) connect your phone to PC, and wait
3.) if LGE Modem installed, go to Device Manager, and set it to tilted or disabled.
( sorry, i'm hungarian, and using hungarian windows too, don't know how this option called on english or other language )
After that, if no other drivers was installed for your phone, should be detected, and installed now. Anyway when you update or downgrade firmware using kdz method, flashing will not start until you disable lge modem in device manager, and you will get only errors, so maybe it will help with installing drivers too. Method tried with GW620, GT540 (my last two phones) and P500 too.
I had issues with these drivers the first time I tried using them. I suggest going to LG Mobile Support, getting their software program, it will ask for your phone model and download all the necessary drivers. Don't have your phone connected, it tends to want to upgrade to the LG's latest ROM.

Well I'll try and make this short and sweet since I am about ready to throw this phone out the window.
1. Tried installing Chainfire 3D, soft bricked
2. Tried to flash over the locked bootoader rom, did a hard reset, stuck in a bootloopp
3. Followed instructions to properly wipe the system and pretty much almost every partition as suggested in a post.
4. OMAP Fastboot is the only thing i have right now. That is doable.
5. Can't blinking find out what I have to do to get the LG Mobile Support tool to recognize software update mode. It refuses to conect and does not identify the phone, but yet fastboot will work, so I know my connection with the phone is working.
I managed to get past the 15% mark but now I am unable to connect via usb for anything other than charging or lg software mode but the drivers will not install)
1. tried driver version 3.8.1
2. tried driver from lg website
nothing. it charges but it will not do anything else. i'll try doing a factory data reset and report back.

I had the SAME problem, and the solution. Usb connection problems are to do with the persist.img. But the catch is, I don't know if it will work on the metro so try at your own risk . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49475336#post49475336

Hello everyone, I could not find a good title for my issue but I will try to explain as well as I can. I own a GT-I9300 (International), but since last official Samsung's firmware update(Jelly Bean 4.3) I am not able to get my phone recognized by my computer. Phone is connected and it charges, but neither Windows or Ubuntu recognizes it as a portable device. I am concerned about UMS is not available on device, but my phone it does not even get detected! I also own a Galaxy SII (4.1.2) and it does get detected by my PC. I think that flashing a custom ROM could solve the problem, since it appeared when I updated official firmware, but the thing is that I cannot root my phone! Tried ODIN but since my phone does not get detected, ODIN does not do its job. I also tried rooting with framaroot and towelroot, but no success: first one says "Failed , try another exploit" but there is only one. And the last one says my phone is not currently supported, even if I change modstrings.
So here is my question: how do I root my phone? I don't know what else I could try. I have already reinstalled Kies and Samsung USB drivers but still not working. Also hard-resetted but no luck.
Hope you guys can help me out because this is really getting on my nerves
Thanks in advance!

The thing is that my phone is the only one that do not get detected every single time I connect it. I have already connected one GT-I9100 and GT-S6790L and both get detected. I already tried on 3 different Virtual Machines with Windows XP, Ubuntu, Windows 8.1 but no luck.
As I said in the first post, I think it's a firmware problem since it appeared when I did the official update, which was this one:
Model GT-I9300
Model name GALAXY S III
Country Argentina
Version Android 4.3
Build date Wed, 05 Nov 2014 20:33:08 +0000

I can see your frustration Now a few things technically it is a misconception that you need root to flash a custom rom you can actually flash a custom recovery with Odin full wipe and then flash a custom rom from custom recovery (only thing is you will lose all your data because you need root to back up your data)
Now I know the above statement is not very helpful because as you said Odin doesn't detect it (but I thought I would mention it anyway )
The reason framaroot and towelroot, didn't work is because at the moment the only way to root S3 is with Odin.:crying:
You may have tried this but I will mention it anyway first uninstal Kies and all Samsung drivers from your computer ( kies can interfere with Odin) Then try installing these drivers here >> http://developer.samsung.com/techni...Lhp1GqlWRy92Q60CX6PP1mF!80806326?v=T000000117 << If you have tried this then sorry.
Also when you connect the phone go to Device manager in Windows and try to look for your device ( it may say unkown device) it should have a warning triangle right click on it select update driver software and then select browse from my computer and point to the drivers that you have downloaded see if that works.
Another thing to note is if you are using Windows 8 you need to disable Driver signature in start up options ( Google it) for Windows to recognize the drivers.

I already tried uninstalling Kies and Samsung drivers. Also I tried looking for device on Device Manager but it does not appear when I plugin my S3, but it does appear when I connect other devices like S2 or Galaxy Fame Lite. They appear as portable devices.
I'm using Windows 7 on my PC and have already tried with different OS over Virtual Machines and still doesn't work.
And thanks for that note, didn't know there was possible to flash a Custom Recovery without root, but I can't since ODIN doesn't detect device :crying:
Then it looks like you are running out of options I would use another computer not Virtual Machines
Okay I'll give it a try but as I said before, looks like an firmware issue, not computer's. Why would my computer detects two another Samsung devices but not mine (which used to work until last update)
Me, too!
I'm having a similar problem. Last week my GS3 stopped working, and I bought another one from Ebay with a cracked screen and swapped out motherboards. The phone seems to work as well as a stock Verizon phone on Jellybean would, but I can't get my Linux, Win 8, or Win XP computers to even recognize that it's attached. Different cables, each and every one of the USB ports, not even a blip. Device Manager in Windows doesn't even see it, and yes I got the developer options unlocked and have enabled USB debugging.
I've got the Samsung drivers installed, and tried to install the CWM device drivers from the SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT V9, but there was an error and that didn't work, either.
USB connection issues are usually due to Windows conflicts, driver problems or the lead itself. If all these have been excluded then you have either a firmware issue in the bootloader, which is very uncommon, or a hardware problem. The usb port is easily worn/damaged/dirty also the motherboard might be the cause.
There is no silver bullet to cure, test each possible thoroughly.

I'm 100 percent sure that it is not due a Windows issue, I have already test every option. I have not considered the usb port to be damaged or worn, which could be possible but phone charges every time I connect it to computer. It just does not get detected as a device. But in order to assume it is a motherboard issue I will have to put away my feeling that the problem is caused by last OTA official update, since this problem started there.
If it is a firmware update issue, is it any option to flash another ROM?

As I said on previous posts, I have already installed and reinstalled Samsung USB drivers and made a factory reset -one from config. option and another one from Android stock recovery 3e (since I cannot install any advanced recovery -or even root it- to flash a custom rom). Doing those factory reset did not downgrade my last firmware update (when all my problems started).
I also said on previous posts that I tried towelroot and framaroot with no success. As tallman43 says, seems like international version of S3 does not support those kind of one-click to root apps.
-----------------------------------------------------
So far the only options available (if my theory about latest firmware update is the problematic one) are:
● downgrade firmware: [Q] How? Odin is not working since my phone does not get detected;
● root my phone in order to install an advanced recovery and flash a new ROM: [Q] Any way of rooting phone without computer (apart from towelroot or framaroot because I have tried and do not work for me)? I read one XDA post from 2 years ago to root S3 via console apk but latest comments assumes that method stopped working.
● install an advanced recovery without odin or root: [Q] How?
● fix USB firmware issue: [Q] I have completely no idea how to do it. (Already played with *#7284# and *#0808# but did not get my phone detected)
Please I need help, this is really irritating me and I am running out of ideas

I guess I have found out what the problem was. It was not firmware (as I thought). It was the micro USB port (as boomboomer said) which seems to not be firmly attached to the PCB. AC charging just seems to work okay, but not USB connections. I managed to figure it out by forcing the USB in a specific position to get it detected for 5 seconds, but then it disappeared.
Yeah, it was not as complex as I thought! I will try to replace that micro USB port as soon as possible, thanks everyone for your help!
