Hi fellaz, i really want to have custom boot animations installed on my gs2.. im using rooted stock KE7 which has no file that goes by this name i.e 'bootanimation.zip' instead, it has a file in system/media as ODEAnim.zip..
i tried replacing that with bootanimation.zip and ODEAnim.zip but im still getting the stock boot animation without any change :/ can someone please help us as there is no thread talkin specifically about galaxy s2 boot animations on a stock rom, and so far i dont think anybody even talked about any file ODEAnim.zip
I'm on a stock ROM and I've had no problem when I've put bootanimation.zip into system/media. It should just work, which would suggest there's something specific about your ROM that is stopping it.
Delete zip add a working bootanimation zip.

thanx for clearing that up.. another question, i have another kernel which is not CF-root im sure, so can the kernel be causing the animations to not work? is having CF-root kernel a must to get the animations workin?
hi... have you got the i9100 original boot animation? can you post it please?

Same problem, no bootanimation.zip is system/media only ODEanim.zip
I tried replacing that with boot animation.zip and even anothe animation renaming to to ODEanim.zip but still no luck.
I've ran into that before, lots of roms actually package their bootanimation however i donno where exactly..
I've gotten other boot animation zips and flashed it using CMW and it works that way.. at least that how it got mine custom boot animation.
worth a try

Custom boot animation requires a kernel that supports it .
Zip has to be placed in system/media .

Hi,
I am on a custom rom and my "bootanimaton.zip" is well in /system/media...
Is boot animation Kernel and ROM dependent. Or just Kernel?
You can also try putting the boot animation.zip into /data/local
This is with the assumption that your rom supports custom boot animations.

when i use my stock ROM 2.3.4 there is one file named bootanimation.zip in /system/media . its possible to change it.
but now, I use gingerbread 2.3.6 and i can't find that file.

Now i can change may boot animation. its easy dude. just download ur favorite boot animation and place it in /data/local
Sorry for any mistake, my English is not so good. After reading theese few posts i searched in my Galaxy Ace (no brand Italy; stock ROM GingerBread 2.3.6 build XWKT7) and i tried to put in data/local a custom bootanimation.zip. After that i rebooted it and there was no change. It displayed me its stock bootanimation. Where do I have made a mistake?
Thank you, J-Hope.

first make sure that you dont have any files in media file except audio if you have others delete them and now copy any bootanimation.zip to your media file and it will work
Just copy/replace in system media And You Can Use that
So sad men, it doesn't work. The only problem is that I haven't got any bootanimation.zip to replace: I have 2 files bootanimation.qmg and samsungloop.qmg.
I've tried to move everything except audio and put a custom bootanimation.zip in system/media but it boots with a black screen and I can't see the bootanimation. Maybe it doesn't work on Italian stock 2.3.6.
Thanks for your help, again.

hello guys, just want to ask if their is any flashable zip crt on off animation available on stock rooted ics on our phone? i have searched but it is only available package to custom roms and have see some flashable zip for the i900 phone but none for the i777. I don't want to customized much my phone as I'm quite satisfied of it now except for this crt off effect which is lacking. there's an app in the market but it seems feel not native to the phone. Ay link, guides or flashable zip(the better) is highly appreciated. I hope I'm not asking too much. Thnx folks.
Edit: There is now CRT Animation zip flashable thru CWM and confirmed working on Stock At&t ICS. I am not the one who make this Zip it is thru the effort of one of the helpful member here callMeAria and thought I would share for everyone to enjoy, so thanks him for making it easy for us with a stock ICS firmware to have the CRT animation implemented on our phone. The file can be found on post #8 of this thread or click the links below. I am not responsible if something happen to your phone when you flash this file it is imperative to make a recovery backup before flashing anything. There are 2 files first is for the CRT animation, the second one is to make return to your previous state easier by flashing it thru CWM if something not good happens when flashing. Enjoy:good:

If you upload your framework-res.apk I can knock it out real quick in a flashable zip. Should only take a few mins once I get it.
EDIT: Let me know what rom it is as well. That way people don't go flashing it for the wrong ROM

Hello CallMeAria, thanks for your interest. I am running on stock At&t 4.0.3 ICS firmware running Siyah kernel and I have attached my framework-res.apk also on the attachment below. Thanks again have a Great day.:good:
Got it. I'll knock that out for you in a bit (sons watching a movie on the computer )
Heres the modified framework-res.apk with the crt animation:
Flashable CRT Animation
And since I havent tested that one, heres the stock framework-res.apk so you can flash back:
Flashable Stock Framework-res.apk
Like I said, I didnt actually test this yet (im running cm10 atm). It should work, but you never know when something doesnt compile just right :silly: Worst case scenario is boot loop, in which case you just flash the stock framework i posted. Best case is it works and in between is I messed up and the animation isnt enabled If it doesnt work, then just let me know and I'll give it another go. Takes all of 5 mins each time around.
EDIT: If it does work, go ahead and put the links up in your original post so its easier for people to find.

I tried several times to search for a guide that could teach me how to change my boot animation, but i could never find one for the i9100, all i found was some for the epic 4g touch and some others.
i also heard that i needed a kernel that allowed such modification, im currently running cm10 latest nightly with cm kernel, can i do this ?
if anyone feels like explaining me how to change it or could give me a link with a proper guide for my device, i'd appreciate it.
Just replaced bootanimation.zip on my system folder and worked... Thread can be closed/deleted, sorry

Go to /system/media/and move bootanimation.zip to sdcard (in case something goes wrong) and move your bootanimation to /system/media
Go to play store
And search for boot animation
Download it and run it
Its really simple and easy
PS: you need to be rooted

I have searched around for awhile and find it difficult to get a custom boot animation for a TouchWiz based ROM. It is because Samsung does not use the usual bootanimation.zip, but uses the .qmg format. So I decided to create some.
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible for any bricked or broken devices. Though I do not believe one can be caused by this kind of mod, it is always suggested to have a NANDROID backup. All rights' go to original creators of the boot animations. I simply made them so that they can work on TW 4.2.2 AND now some on 4.3 based ROMS.
All files can be found here: http://d-h.st/users/Tylorw1/?fld_id=0#files from now on. As users pm and ask for them I'll upload them.
I9505/I337(m) and I9500 are for TW Based ROMS.
Instructions:
Flash The ZIP file in recovery. Simple as that. If you happen to have a different boot animation then ones listed, I will be happy to make you one of the ROM you are using to restore your ROMs boot animation.

It isnt really, I just toned up Bluetooth volume a tab bit more, and made the speaker volume a better number so there is no chance of blowing out the speaker. So there is nothing really different. You can change the values inside of it too as you wish using notepad++ and just rezipping and flashing.

I'm sorry if this isn't the exact location to ask this question, but I've read multiple threads concerning customizing boot animations on my Galaxy S4.
Unfortunately I've managed to wind up with a black screen upon bootup also without sound. Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, but it wasn't my original intention.
I've tried flashing one of the attachments to this thread to no avail. At this point I'm just trying to start from scratch and restore whatever was on my phone originally.
Does anybody have any ideas where I could find original stock versions of the bootanimation BIN file and the bootanimation.zip file for an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4???
More info: running stock Rom 4.2.2 rooted with Motochopper and I use TWRP.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I really truly appreciate your respondinging to me. It shows you care and that alone is worth my posting in this forum.
Secondly, I am nearly positive I DID flash a file that had a similar name to that, but despite my noobery, I don't think I'd flash something with "CWM" in the title given I use TWRP (although I don't think it matters which flash tool I use).
So I was extremely excited to read your suggestion. Unfortunately it did not prove successful. I completely removed the file you mentioned, confirmed the existence of the other two, flashed the file you provided via link, and still have a black screen upon bootup (after the Samsung custom logo).
