[Q] adb is working, but fastboot isn't... - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After flashing some roms,my phone now can only access to internal and external sd from pc. Although, I can put files in sd, I can't see nor access to those files in my phones. I did some research and found out that the command in sdk could help me: "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
This is where I got stuck. I could access to adb and when I commanded adb devices I can see my devices attached. However when I typed fastboot devices, nothing shows up, and when I typed "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", I got stuck in "waiting for devices" message.
I don't know what was going on, since adb command is still working fine. I would really appreciate any help here.
P.S. I don't know if this is matter, but I run on xp window.

I think fastboot is only for HTC devices. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

haha. yeah, fastboot = htc.

I saw the title for this thread and had to do a double take that I was in the Vibrant section. This was almost news to me.

I saw both fastboot and adb exe file in android sdk. I thought they would work for all android phones.
If it wasnt, do you know any ways for me to reactivate sd card or to access sd card through my phone? Rite now i cant see any pictures or songs, which i put in my internal n external sd though pc.

have you tried simply mounting/unmounting... maybe copy everything to the pc, format it and then reboot?
settings > sd / phone storage.

I tried mounting, unmounting, format it from both phone setting and on pc. I still found no luck

edit: i even flash back to stock rom and do factory reset. Still no luck. Is there any other ways that i can try.

First of all, what rom are you running? And secondly, if you're trying to access your sdcards from recovery, you really only have access to the internal one, nut not as USB mass storage.
If you're trying to access the sdcard from your computer as USB mass storage, make sure you have debugging enabled, and then using the notification menu, tell it to mount the sdcard.

Hero RecoveryROM wont detect via usb, SDCard not mounted etc!! Help please?

Hi, people...
Just wondering if there is a way out of my situation, last night I installed the latest recovery image (RA-hero-v1.5.3.1), prior to that I put the latest Villian Rom on to update, but I think I messed things up, with some of the new menus in the Recovery rom as I accidently hits a few things :-(
Messages I'm getting are on almost every option I try is : E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0 (no such file or directory)
and
E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/
If I try any other options aswell I get "Error: Run 'bart' via adb" which is no good when I get the adb messages as for some reason my windows 7 pc has stopped detecting the phone in adb mode?!
The normal Hero bootloader get's detected fine in windows, is there anything I can do here to restore the system. I think some messages flashed by saying missing image! Which don't sound good.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
if you have access to fastboot as you say, I'm sure you could fastboot recovery (just in case there's some weird issue there), then format the SD card and restore from a nandroid backup on your PC (I hope you took a copy of the backup on a PC).
Other than that, you might need to wait on someone like kendong2 to spread his words of wisdom here, as he seems good at solving stuff like this.

Thanks for the advice, my heart started pounding very hard when you mentioned about the nandroid backup being backed up! Luckily, I done an SD card backup a few weeks ago and found the folder, phew.
Sorry for being a little foolish, but when you say do a fastboot recovery how is this done in the bootloader, i'll search google in the mean time. To format my sd card im going to have to get usb adapter I presume as you can't format the SD card from bootloader? Correct me if im wrong.

Thanks for the reply. Nothing comes up at all anymore, I can't see any changes when I plug in the device under recovery mode, and even when selecting the USB-MS mode, nothing is detected or shown on the USB devices list. However, when I first tried originally it came up with the device not recognised.
Got to get myself a SD USB adapter first to format the card.... so I'll give that a try.
Ok, got myself a USB adapter to format SD Card, i've put my backup of everying back on. I now understand about how to use the fastboot command via command prompt etc....
Where do I go from here? What commands to type etc.. I've looked at the options but cannot seem to use flashall command succesfully.
The device is listed when typing fastboot devices, so I take it that's one good thing for a start!
Again, thanks for any help with this.
Just another question does the SD card have to be formatted specially? Ie partitioned etc... perhaps this is why I can't get it mounted under the recovery options. Because I accidently done one of the partion options and from then on I had all the problems.....

Q - Sd card not reading in recovery

I recently seemed like a brick on my transformer prime. I tried flashing EOS rom and the system just froze on eepad screen. I still had access to Fastboot and Wipe data but no recovery whatsoever. I figured out i was missing the blobfile which got me back to cwm 5.8.2.0 and i transfered a stock rooted rom to the sd card to reflash but it wouldn't read my sd card, i tried 3 different ones. It just seem like its not finding a sdcard drive on the device. I tried adb pushing the files to internal sd but when im in recovery, my computer recognizes the adb device but the adb in cmd keep saying adb device not found. Any ideas? i been searching on the forums for the past 2 weeks to find a solution but no luck

CWM does not have access to external SD cards on the Prime. No way around it.
how would i go about pushing rom files to update it without the ability to read sd or mount internal sd? my computer reconigzes the android ADB devices when i boot into CMW but when i use adb to push files over it keep saying device not found

[Q] put files to sd-card in fastboot mode?

Hi guys!
is it possible to put files to internal storage when in bootloader/fastboot mode?
My post is probably very very similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542980, but I'm not sure if it will be the same as Xperia S.
I was about to flash custom ROM, but then I forgot to transfer ftf file into SD card, and recovery mount SD card option is broken, and I'm stuck in Sony boot loop.
Suggestions?
i thought xperia s doesn't have sd card, it's just built in 32gb memory.
i'm totally new to this phone, so don't quote me...
but maybe if the file needs to be on the internal storage there might be adb/fastboot commands where you can push the file in bootloader mode?
That's what I meant. Internal storage,
Do you know what commands used to push it?
I have the same prob XPS.. pls help me out guys...
Solved, I flashed DoomKernel instead of recovery-nozomi.
recovery-nozomi, I got stuck in Sony Bootloop.
i don't really know, i'm totally new to this phone.
on my old htc wildfire s you cold use hboot via usb and use adb from a windows command prompt
it was something like for example
adb push filename.ext /data/filename.etc
but again, i don't know if this is the correct method for this phone, or where you'd need to "push" the fiile, to /system? to /data? or some other location?
does it even need to be on the phone? or isn't there some tool that you can flash the update from your pc?

Asus prime not going past the boot screen

My transformer prime has been rooted and unlocked and im using TWRP recovery. After plugging it into the computer and using Android File Transfer to put a rom on the sd card, after flashing it the prime wouldn't let me copy things into internal storage or delete things off of internal storage! So i decided to try the wipe of internal storage and it is now only booting into the splash screen.
PLEASE HELP PLEASE!!! ANYONE!!
-thanks
Do you have access to adb or fastboot? Have you used adb or fastboot before? If you have access to adb or fastboot then you're still okay. The dev section has a lot of detailed posts in regards to pushing files to your tfp via adb or flashing a rom through fastboot.
I had a similar problem, and fixed it. It's seemed to have helped others. Try this.

Noob mistake. Wiped data in TWRP - Including the OS

My G3 is a blank slate right now.
I put the SD card into my PC and downloaded the CM12 file and the Gapps file. Now with it back in the phone I can't find them. I click install > External Sd > nothing there.
Under "mount" it wont let me click the SD card.
Where do I start?
I would plug the phone in and reflash back stock and start over. But u could try mounting the the phone as usb storage and dl the files directly to it thn search for them on the internal storage since it wont connect to the sd.

Plug it into where and reflash it how? You have to ELI5. I'm reformatting my SD card now to see if it will recognize it.
Wow. I really had to go through some trial and error there. I spend the last few hours trying to get the ADB side loading to work. Trying ever driver known to man. I kept getting the no devices message. There was a specific order that it had to be done in order for it to be recognizing the device at the time of loading. Enable mtp > adp > plug in > side load.
I'm up and running CM12 now. And I'm ready for bed!
Since you have twrp installed, why not just get an SD card and put a ROM on it and flash? Seems like the easy way to me.
For future reference, was the phone recognized by adb when in TWRP? If so, did you try to push any files to the internal storage?
I did that once I just flashed a tot file then just rerooted I couldn't connect phone back with adb or anything
