Hi all,
I just recently installed Honeycomb Android Illuminate Alpha 3.0 and have a question. How do I enable My Location so that I can have Google Maps detect my current location using WiFi networks?
I tried going into system setting and checked off the box for "Wireless network", "Use GPS", "Use location in Google search" under the Location and security sub-menu, but it still won't work in Google Maps. I also tried toggling the "Allow mock location" in Development but still couldn't get it to work.
Thanks.

Does anyone know how to enable the Verizon Touch Pro (VX6850) to update "My Location"/Latitude in google maps? Searching the google help i found that if you go to Menu --> Help --> About there is "myl: N/A"
according to google help this tells you if you are able to use cell towers to triangulate where you are. Is there a way to enable this?
Just enable the GPS and do it the REAL way
what if you are indoors and cannot get a gps signal like 99% of my day?
Yeah, seriously. I KNOW "My Location" works on other devices (saw it work on a blackberry with my own eyes in a verizon store) and I updated to the new rom that supposedly enabled gps (and hopefully the "my location" functionality) and I enabled "location based services" in the options dialog of the phone settings menu item. and it still doesn't work. Any guesses as to if this is a Google problem? A verizon problem? or an HTC (PDC) problem? any registry settings we know of related to location based services? anyone? Thread bump?
I wonder the same but for a different reason, I use Navizon and it records the cell tower data and gives me points for it, I don't get access to it with the touch pro, only to wifi.
Does location work on GTAB and TNT4.4?
It hasn't for me. I think the app only uses network and gps to get location. I could be wrong but that is the only connection missing.

There is no GPS within the gTab, so location cannot be automatically determined as it might be on a smartphone. Near as I can tell, some have worked that out via tethering a smartphone or attaching an external GPS via USB, but I haven't figured this out yet.
I just tried tetherGPS from the market and it worked for me. I have a Nexus One running Cyanogen and it comes with mobile hot spot enabled. I turned on my mobile hot spot, connected the gtab via wifi and ran navigation on the gtab. Worked perfectly! I used the lite version but if I can figure a way to mount the gtab in the car then I will pay for it, no question about it.
i have used BlueGps and have my bluetooth gps connected. But google maps tells me to enable "My Location". Where do i find that option ? Im using TnT LIte 4.4
from your home screen:
menu (settings) --> location & security
check USE GPS SATELLITES
also be sure to enable 'mock locations'
menu (settings) --> Applications --> Development
check ALLOW MOCK LOCATIONS
That's how I'm getting messed up. I have no option under location & security for GPS. I do have the option for mock locations.
No location services
Me neiher. Is it something to do with having changed the ROM to TNT lite?
Since the NT doesn't have active Bluetooth (yet) I haven't been able to get the My Location function in Google Earth to do anything. I have the Settings set up to use the wireless network method to help localize things, but that doesn't appear to work with Google. Is BT the only way go here?
Running CM7.
Hi everyone,
I am not sure it this is the best place to ask this question, if not, no problem if it is moved to the right one.
I am a new user of the app "Tasker" and I really like it. One of the things I want to do is to turn on GPS and "Wi-Fi & mobile network location" automatically when launching some apps like Maps, Navigation, Endomondo, Sygic, etc. and turn off both when closing them to save battery when no using those apps.
I handle to activate GPS when launching apps and turn off on exit task but I cannot find the task to turn on/off "Wi-Fi & mobile network location". If it is not possible, I could use "access to my location" option (which includes GPS and wi-fi & mobile network location".
Another question is that I want to know if it is possible to make a task to activate pattern security. I usually use slide security on lock screen but when it is connected to a wifi (like at work) I want to activate pattern security on lock screen.
I am using Android 4.1 (CM10.1).
Thanks in advance.
I can answer myself. It is possible installing Secure Settings from Play Store

Hi magarto,
Can you please share your Tasker GPS job? I have installed Secure Settings and setup a Trigger, action and task in Tasker. But it is not functioning as you described ...
Can you help me out? Thx.

Where can I find that "access my location" option? Because I've been looking all over for it and can't find it oO
Hi everyone.
The GPS function of my phone (Samsung Note 5, Android 7) can't seem to work after I use a fake gps app called Fly Gps.
When I am using Waze, the msg "No GPS. Showing approximate location" pop up. It can detect my location when I am not moving, but I can't use it for navigation.
Google Maps is better,I I think. It can detect that I am moving but not the exact location, maybe slightly delay. I keep seeing the msg "Searching for Gps" and the voice navigation will inform me that GPS signal is lost.
I have already tried most of the solutions found on the Internet but none seems to work,
including restarting the phone, install & uninstall the app, clear data, cache.
On Android 7, the developer options does not have the “disable mock gps" option.
There is a "Mock location app" and it shows no mock location detected.
Can someone please help me solve the problem?
Thank you.
