This will take you through the steps to replace your boring boot logo (motorola M with dual core underneath) with something awesome
Our friends on the photon also have a boot logo forum, so you can go over there and see if they have any boot logos that fit your taste
I used information from two sources for this tutorial
NFHimself's post in this thread, which mostly went over my head lol
and this page
What you'll need (at least what I had)
Image Editor (I used photoshop, I'm not sure if gimp or any other image editor has the same options)
Binary Editor (I used FHRED -- it's free)
Fastboot
The included logo-header
Creating Your Logo
First: Open up your image editor, and make your boot image the dimensions must be 540x960. Important: you must flip the image vertically.
Second: Save your boot logo as a .BMP file, but it must be saved in 565 format. To do this in photoshop, save as the BMP file, then when the extra options come up push the advanced modes button, and select the R5 G6 B5 option.
Thank you Ka4yan for this helpful tip

For anyone using Paint.NET as their photo editor, here is a plugin which allows you to save in RGB565 format:

In this forum is also a really good explanation of RGB565.

Third: Open up the .BMP file with your binary editor and delete the first 70 Bits (pairs of numbers), and the last 2 bits (with FHRED, just highlight and hit delete
Fourth: Copy the header from the attached bin file and paste it at the top of your bin. Your file should be 1036820 bits. Save as logo.bin.
Applying a Logo
Fifth Unzip fastboot and move your logo.bin to the same directory.
Sixth: put your phone in fastboot by booting the phone holding the volume down, and then once you see fastboot on the screen, press voume up. connect your phone and open command prompt and use the cd command to navigate to where your fastboot and logo.bin is and enter:
Code:
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot reboot
OR
Make a CWM Recovery zip and flash it
Devbro has posted his own website for making you a boot logo CWM zip
please make sure you hit thanks on his post if you use his website!
You should see your new boot logo, yay
Feel free to post your newly made logos in this forum so you might be able to save other people the trouble of making one!
Attached is the logo header bin, the stock logo.bin, and my sample logo.bin
Thank you NFHimself for the help, and the original logo and logo-header

I think this one turned out pretty decent...

Something I've always wanted to see on boot is an Nvidia Tegra 2 logo like the one on the page below.

As long as it has the Nvidia logo I'd be happy. But I would think with two logos it might look a little cramped. Maybe some writing under it that says "Motorola" or "Motorola Atrix" or something like that?

EDIT: If you have any issues with flashing, let me know. I found one logo where the header did not get set properly.
Flashing a bad logo will not hurt your phone, it will simply give you a text based startup screen that will still boot the phone normally.
You can simply hold the vol down during boot to enter fastboot and reflash a good logo.bin file.
Would this remove the unlocked at the top of the screen for gingerbread or anything higher then 1.83?

No it will not.
It cannot cover it up either.
System generated messages display on top of any logo image.

This happened to me on the third day after I've got the ATRIX - so you could say I was still a bit of a newb on Moto Android stuff at that point.
I was using RomRacer's CWM recovery. When I went to school, I decided I'd wipe cache & dalvik & fix permissions until I put on the shoes. When I got out of the flat, it was all done. I could barely see anything on the screen, but I thought what the hell, I know how CWM looks like, I can navigate through it without too many problems.
I must have selected a line wrong, because I ended up formatting the external SD card. Well, I pressed on it, I selected an option (I didn't even realise what I was doing, ROFL), then... when I saw "formatting SD card", I was like "God, f*** me now". Battery pull, battery pull, BATTERY PULL.
After that, when I was booting the phone, instead of the M-logo with the DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY text, I got #1 (see the first picture). After a few seconds, it would show #2 (see the second picture), and another few seconds after that, the boot animation of the ROM would appear.
As you can see, it shows "OS will boot in 5 seconds". In those 5 seconds, you can use the volume down key to navigate through those options (which are the options you get to choose when you normally boot the phone, say, to go to Recovery - only displayed in another way, since you have the M-logo boot screen, which I don't have, lol).
Option number 10 (Boot Android (No BP)) boots the OS, but without the baseband. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth work fine (didn't test GPS), but 2G/3G are offline; also, if I'd go in Settings -> About, under "Baseband version", it would show "Unknown" or "Unavailable".
Option number 15 (BP Tools), is enabled by default after 5 seconds, if you haven't selected another option. That turns on the BP (which I believe is the baseband), and the ROM boots after that.
If I wipe the partitions, it will show "No OS detected. RSD mode will activate in 5 seconds", or something like that.
Even though it says "Current choice is mode: RSD", after that, it is powering on the BP, and booting Linux... It isn't actually going into RSD mode. Unless I press a volume key, it doesn't change, and the phone boots normally.
-----
Notice the PwrReason: SW_AP_RESET text on the top side. It shows SW_AP_RESET because I used the Reboot function that my current ROM provides (Neutrino ROM). If I turn off the device and turn it back on (manual reboot, so-to-say, lol), PwrReason would be PWR_KEY_PRESS. If I turn off the phone and plug in the charger, it would show PwrReason: CHARGER.
If the OS freezes and the phone reboots, PwrReason is AP_KERNEL_PANIC.
-----
What do you think of this? What might have gone wrong?!
Anyways, this thing is awesome. Now it looks more like the way regular computers boot up (BIOS lines, etc.), which is more interesting to look at, instead of a shiny image which doesn't inform you of anything that your phone is doing RIGHT NOW.
-----
Some things I haven't stated. After I did that stupid thing in CWM, it was showing "No OS detected". I had to flash the ROM for it to properly boot up afterwards. Also, after that, the touchscreen was malfunctioning (the capacitive keys didn't work etc.), so I had to flash the PDS partition again, as well. But that's pretty much all I had to do.
I followed your link from the CM7 thread. It's just like turl said, you need a new logo.bin (boot logo). Here's a link to a thread in the Themes section that has it.

I figured that was missing (a bit late, actually)... I just can't beleive how a simply "format external SD card" option from CWM can do such a thing... Format the PDS, boot animation and the ROM, without doing the purposed thing : FORMAT THE DANG SD. In a way, I'm happy it did that and not the thing it was supposed to do - I didn't had a backup of my SD, lol.
Well, thank you. Even though I kind of like the way my phone boots up now... I'd kind of like an image, too. It would be awesome to place some lines of that text in some corner of the animation, like PwrReason, for example... useful for when you wanna know why the phone was off when you thought it was on Anyway...

Hi,
Today I helped a friend flash a custom rom on a galaxy gio and I opened cmw on my phone to help him go to the right menu's in cmw.
I think I changed the ext4 partition to 0mb (don't realy know how :s) and now when I boot android Instead of the bootscreen with the red m I get some white text with some different options (like boot in adb (about 10 options)) it also tells me I can move change option with volume down and accept with volume up, but these don't do anything :s.
After I wait for a while android just starts booting like normal and everything seems fine, but when android has booted it seems like the touchscreen move up for like a centimeter (if I want to press a button I need to touch the screen under the button) and my soft keys don't work anymore (but I think this is because of the moved touchscreen)
What did I do and how can I make it normal again? I'm running the latest GB Mrom.
Edit:this is the screen I get when there normally is a red circle with the white M in:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Thnx if anyone can help me!
I've been trying somethings and if I don't have my usb cable plugged in I can choose some options on the menu, it seems now that I somehow removed my clockwordmod recovery and went back to old recovery? Is this even possible?
Should I just reflash cmw with fastboot again?
Plz help me
I would hold of on flashing another recovery until someone more knowledgeable than I comes along. There might be a chance where you can do permanent damage. Seems like it could have simply deleted their boot logo, and now instead of those options being normally hidden, are being shown. (like when you boot while holding volume down). What happens if you try booting with volume button held down?
Edit: If all else work as it should, just leave it. Makes it look like verbose mode. Forget Motorola and their stupid 'm'. =P

If I hold volume down + power while booting I get the same thing, and everything works normaly, BUT my touchscreen is messed up, the every touch gets detected to high (if I want to hit app drawer I need to push between the home and back soft button) and the soft buttons don't work.
Oh right, you did mention that, my bad. Well, I'd say hold off for someone that might know what happened as I've never read about or experienced something like this. Maybe try posting in the main XDA Q&A section not specific to Atrix as someone might have had a similar issue with another device (maybe even a Moro) Sorry can't be of much help. Good luck.

touchscreen problems are usually related to the pds partition. Did you by any chance make a backup before these problems started?
I don't know if the bootscreen is related to the PDS partition but it might be that this partition is corrupted.

but could that also explain the weird boot message with the options? (or is it also called animantion, because the Mrom annimations works normal (the blue android guy))
I had mistakenly done something that resulted in your exact problems once. What I did to fix. First you'll need to fastboot a recovery again. Next you'll have to do the pds partition fix. Then lastly flash the proper boot logo back to get the m screen. The first step is dependent on you being able to get into fastboot so hopefully you can.

Yes that is the right file and yes for gb.
Ok, I just reflashed the recovery with fastboot and then I flashed the PDS partition fix and the touchscreen works perfectly again. Only the red M is still gone.
Any Idea how to get it back?
And Thank You so much!
Now I can use my phone again

Actually here you go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423763
I would like to give credit to everyone who has worked on the android roms, and other guides. I have taken some of the info for this guide from the WIKI
It seemed we were due for a friendly how to guide on how to load a NAND rom on a RHOD device. I decided to write a step by step guide to help people out. This guide does provide a very basic ADB setup, but it is just enough to get you up and running. If you want to do advanced things you should get the full ADB, and learn more about it.
This guide is written for a RHOD400, Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom, and a Win7 pc, but should be almost identical for the rest of the RHOD family, other versions of Windows, and most other roms.
It is assumed that you have unlocked your phone for custom rom loading in the past at some point. This is not the same as unlocking the sim card. This is 100% required. Please read here and/or here, and/or here if you need help with unlocking your phone.
This guide assumes that you know what a command prompt is, how to load windows drivers for a device, and can open zip files. If these things are not within your skill sets I would recommend that you find someone who understands these things to assist you.
Things you need.
1. A RHOD phone.
2. A micro SD card that is at least 512mb in size.
Tip: I suggest a sd card that is less than 4gb in size. There tends to be less compatibility issues with non SDHC cards. SDHC cards usually work, but if you have trouble this is a good thing to change. The SD card does have to be less than 64gb in size as the phone can not read cards larger than 32gb.
3. A usb based micro sd card reader. A usb based card reader is need to be compatible with the HP format tool. Some built in ones are usb based others are not. If you have one, you can try it and see if it works. It is not recommended to use your phone's sd card reader for prep work.
4. A usb cable that is known to work. Test it in WM first. On rare occasion I have seen cables that did work with WM and not Android. If you have issues, this is also something good to swap out during trouble shooting.
5. A windows based pc. *DO NOT USE USB 3.0 PORTS* Many reports about have come in about them causing issues.
The procedure.
1. Back up anything you want to keep from your phone. Everything on the phone will be wiped during this process.
2. Put the micro sd card into your USB card reader and format with the HP format tool. It needs to be a full fat32 format. Windows format is known to have issues on occasion, and this step is a work around for that problem. It is not 100% required, but if you have trouble it is 100% required during trouble shooting.
3. While this is formatting you can download the recovery (recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img) ***It has been found that the 6.0.1.3 recovery does not make backups correctly, resulting in md5 errors. You may use it if you are not planning on using the backup feature, or the older one by acl works fine. You can rename it to use the included scripts if you wish.***, rom (GBX0*+3.4.26 Full) , the boot loader, the needed usb android drivers, and the adb files.Gapps is optional.
4. Make sure your battery is at least 50% charged. I recommend a 100% charge. A dead battery in the middle of flashing can brick your phone.
5. Copy the RHODIMG.NBH, rom (GBX0*+3.4.26 Full), and the gapps (optional) files to the sd card and put it in your phone with the phone turned off.
6. Press the hold down the volume down button while pressing the power button. This will bring up the tri colored screen. It will then automatically go to the white rom update screen.
7. Follow the directions (press the power button on the RHOD400) to start the update. This should take less than 1min.
Troubleshooting tip:
If the phone sits at loading 0%, and never moves after 10 min you may not have unlocked your phone or there is an issue with your RHODIMG file. Verify that you have unlocked your phone (you can try loading a WM custom rom), format the SD card, re-download the RHODIMG file, and try again. Also try another SD card and SD card reader.
8. If the phone reboots automatically, that is fine. Otherwise when the phone says Update Success you can pull the battery to shut it off.
9. Turn the phone back on. You should see a blue miniPooploader screen with a lot of white text scrolling for a moment. When it gets done, pull the battery to shut it off. Then replace the battery (it should still be off)
10. Connect the usb cable between the phone and the PC, and turn the phone on. The PC should see the device, and may or may not assign drivers to it.
11. Install the USB/fastboot driver for the phone. On Win 7 the phone showed initially as android device under other folder in the device manager. After the driver is installed it should be called My HTC.
12. Open the ADB Tools zip file, and put the platform-tools folder on c:\
13. Open a command prompt and go to c:\platform-tools\.
Once there type:
Code:
fastboot devices
You should get a response similar to this:
C:\platform-tools>fastboot devices
HT04TM300704 fastboot
If this is not working stop now and troubleshoot.
14. Now to wipe the phone in prep for loading (or reloading) the android rom.
There is a wipe.bat file I have included. You may run it, or you may type the following commands.
Code:
Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot erase boot
Fastboot erase misc
Fastboot erase system
Fastboot erase userdata
Fastboot erase cache
15. Place the recovery (recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img) file into c:\platform-tools.
16. Now load the recovery image. If it is named recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img you may use the reload_recovery.bat or type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img
to load the recovery image then
Code:
fastboot boot recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img
to boot the recovery image.
17. Install the rom.
Using the volume keys highlight 'Install zip from sdcard' then press the call button to select it.
Highlight 'choose zip from sdcard' and press the call button to select it.
Highlight the rom file (GBX_3.4.26_Full.zip) and press the call button to select it.
Highlight yes and press the call button to select it.
The rom will now install. This will take a few minutes.
18. (optional) Install Gapps.
Using the volume keys highlight 'Install zip from sdcard' then press the call button to select it.
Highlight 'choose zip from sdcard' and press the call button to select it.
Highlight the gapps file (probably gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and press the call button to select it.
Highlight yes and press the call button to select it.
Gapps will now install. This will take a few minutes.
19. Press the back arrow, and select reboot system now.
The phone should reboot into the Android rom now. It will take about 10min the first time. If you have waited more than 30 something has gone wrong. You should troubleshoot and try again.
At this point you have the basics all in place, and can start using your phone.
If you want to do basic ADB tasks (along the lines of installing apps remotely/side loading or pushing/pulling files) you will need to install the adb windows driver.
20. Press the thanks button if you liked this guide.
P.S.
If you have issues getting adb to work later, download and use USBDeview.exe to remove the HTC driver entries and then install pdanet for android to get the correct adb drivers installed.

Well if you have not listed all your trouble shooting steps, you will not get help from anyone. Our physic abilities are lacking these days.
Also posting specific questions in the thread about the rom you are trying to install will have a higher chance of getting useful feedback.

1. I use RhodiumWUnlocker to unlock my rhod500 , to get any rom loaded with it
2. I copy RHODIMG.NBH, GBX_3.4.24_Full, recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3 all to my 4gb SDard
3. Vol- + PWR and phone turns to the tri color screen, then the phone started to load the image files
4. I press PWR butt to start the update, within a couple of seconds the phone update successfully
I press resest button for the phone to boot up to see if it will go to the fast boot screen.
But i was unlucky always the phone restart itself within some seconds.

Sounds like you just need to flash CWM... the CWM recovery image doesn't go on your SD card, you flash that from your computer using the "fastboot flash" command...
You can also try "fastboot boot <recovery.img>" - w/o the < >. Remember, this is done on your computer. That's why you need the fastboot drivers...

9. Turn the phone back on. You should see a blue miniPooploader screen with a lot of white text scrolling for a moment. When it gets done, pull the battery to shut it off. Then replace the battery (it should still be off)

You described this screen (scrolling text, blue background?) I remember you said you got it to fastboot, no?
Where is your phone getting to?
edit: nevermind fiddled with it, dont know what i did but it worked
I have a rhod400. I have been messing with OMGB as my daily phone OS since July 2012 and just installed this one about a week ago.
I have two questions/issues
1) Every time I try to reboot, it freezes. When I try to power off, it sometimes freezes, but usually reboots.
2) I can't seem to make persistent changes to the hosts file. After every reboot, it's set to the same old generic "127.0.0.1 localhost"
During boot, does the OS unpack a .img or something with the hosts file packed inside it? If so, where is it?
Thanks, guys. Other than these 2 issues, this flavor of android for rhodium is pretty solid. i like it.

Please put rom specific questions in that rom's thread.
If you are running a newer than.27 kernel the reboot and power off functions do not work properly in any rom.
I believe that the host file is overwritten by the ram disk/boot.img on boot every time. Any changes will not stick.
There is a chance these issues may be fixed on the next release of GBX, but no promises.

This isn't enough information to help you.
If you're not going to provide detailed information on what is happening, no one will be able to help you.
Perhaps NAND is not for your device. Flash back to WinMo.

power off and connect charger let me know if it shows the charging animation , unfortunately it seems Intel's / Dell's method of hiding how long these devices actually take to boot (to the point its actually booting android ) is by using the splash screen ( which you see even it the boot.img and system.img get corrupt ) as the boot animation this makes it really hard to identify bootloops and corrupt partitions. but if you see the charging animation we at least know the boot.img is intact and we can continue to fixing the device.

Hello SDC. Is there a way to remove this splash screen so that we can see the actual start up text?

not the start up text but we can get the splash screen removed to show the intel inside logo this at least allows you to know when it is actually booting , on mine i added an additional simple splash screen in install-recovery.sh so i see , intel inside , then starting su daemon , then the boot animation ,
though i wanna play with this tonight : http://www.xda-developers.com/android/chainfire-turns-your-bootanimation-into-a-logging-center/

If you use the unbrick ( xsftk loader or any of the other Intel flashing tools that use it ) process to unbrick or early on root / bootloader unlock the process wipes the splash.img from the osip header leaving you with the Intel default Intel inside logo instead of the dell splash screen.

I see no point in installing this version, honestly I can't think of why it was ever made, useless rom, all that is needed is ifwi.zip the rest is garbage. You only need ifwi.zip to unlock your bootloader.
Intel should have only released ifwi.zip, the rest of the stuff is really unless unneeded junk, LOL I never get why companies waste people's time, all they need to do now is release ifwi.zip for Venue 7 then it would also be unlocked.

I guess is a rom image for reinstall the system...
The entire history is...
1.- The intell venue 3830 device is crashed...
2.- One day I push the power button ready to play a game but the device show me an android robot with a red icon and the "sin comandos" legend...
3.- I enter the web in the search of a solution and trying the process:
- a.- hold power button + volume down and choose in the menu the recovery option.
- b.- when the android robot appears hold power button + volume up and choose the wipe data/factory reset option.
- c.- select the reboot system now option.
4.- This entire process should be restore my tablet but nooo!!
Then I have tried to learn what I have to do and I think is needed install a rom just as I do in a PC... format the computer and install an OS = format the tablet and install an android rom...
I´m not sure if is this correct or no but is what I´m trying to do...
can you help me please??

Hello friends, after buying android one phone i was searching for a long time for android one logo with same sequence boot animation. but i can't find. So i decided to make it own. And after some long hours hard work i am able to making it, that i am searching for a long time but could not found.
The boot animation and boot logo are 100% created by me. (I used adobe Photoshop) So please don't use it in any custom ROM build without my permission. For personal use only!
(I used white background because i thought white is more perfect and pleasurable on LCD screen, while i love black background on AMOLED screen)
If you like it please hit the thanks button... this will encourage me for my future work
Guide for flashing boot logo...
1. download adb-tools.rar from the attachments. and extract it via winrar, 7zip or something like that. (I already put the logo.bin file into the adb-tools folder, so don't need to replace it.)
2. open the extracted folder and leave your mouse courser in any blank/white area.
3. now simultaneously pressing 'shift' key on your keyboard right click on your mouse, and you will found 'open commando window here' option.
4.click the option and you will get a black cmd window.
5. now turn off you phone and pressing vol up and power switch same time. after 2-3 sec leave power switch and you will see the boot loader menu on your phone.
6. nagivate to fast-boot mode option via volume down switch and press volume up switch for select the option.
7. now you will see your phone is in fast-boot mode.
8. connect your phone via usb cable. for 1st time it takes some minute for installing driver on your computer.
9. now on that black cmd window write following code
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
after finish it enter
fastboot reboot
Now you have successfully installed your new boot logo.
Guide for flashing bootanimation
1. I make the boot animation as a flashable zip, so just flash it via any custom recovery
2. or you can manually extract the bootanimation.zip from the achievement (system/media) and replace it via root explorer!
make sure to change the permission to rw-r--r--.
Hope you all like my post and my work. Thanks Friend. Peace...
