[Q] Who is S-Off? - HTC EVO 3D

OK everyone please excuse my noobish question but who the hell is s-off and why is this dude so important to have for our phones to make it function?!?!?! I thought buying through sprint should be enough to make my phone function but apparently that's not true? Also why would anyone want to see there phones get s-offed or f-offed or what ever y'all calling it. Does this also mean that I can't play angry birds without this dude s-off or make prank calls? Someone with a little more intelligence please explain why s-off is so important and where does he live so we can just go to his house and beat his door down for not coming out.

Also, everyone who asks for s-off annoys the crap out of me. It's like they don't realize it takes time to get to that point, even more so with a locked bootloader - I realize ARX has s-off and I'm not trying to diminish what they or teamwin or any dev working on it but until its public we still don't have s-off for all intents and purposes. But back to the OP, feels good to laugh.
PS - for every one post asking for an ETA god kills an Android dev. Please, think of the devs.

Well we may have to wait just a tad longer. I read in the sensation forums they were waiting for the mytouch slide 4g (which was released today) and was shipped s-on and fully locked. They will probably include that in the next beta. Hopefully it is the same method as the sensation and the shooter so it shouldn't take that much longer.
P.s. people in the sensation forums are saying this week
