Telstra build update via Moto Software Updater Tool - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was searching the Motorola websites to find a possible update, as Telstra has nothing at the moment, and I installed the Motorola Software Updater Tool on my PC. It ran and identified that it was the Telstra build and said there was a new update available. Didn't specify Froyo or G/Bread. It had Orange.FR.
I figured why not and gave it a go. Took about 10mins to go through the motions and now its on;
4.4.20.MB860.Orange.en.FR – system
2.2.2 – Android
N01.9500r – Baseband
OSHWT_U1_6.61.10 – Webtop
2.6.32.9 – Kernel
OLYEM_U4_4.2.0 – Build
plus some new random thing called APflex.
The new benefits so far, are MUCH faster booting, WITH NO Telstra loading screen.
The start up is now just the Red Moto logo and pulses out out whites lines instead of the stock red lines. Then it goes straight to the desktop.
Notification red dots appear on everything from apps to calls & messages and still has the LED light too. haven't noticed much else so far.
BIG downside though, It no longer has the WiFi Hotspot. It has disappeared all together. That alone is a major bugger, because I use that for my work Laptop when I'm out on the road during the day.
Will have to contact Motorola and find out if they can reset back to Telstra build again.
Edit: Repair centre can not flash back to v4.1.47, apparently it isn't listed at the moment??? Because the Atrix was only released here 7 weeks ago, they haven't listed that firmware version on the Moto website for repairs yet... Or so I was told today anyways.

New HERO

Hello,
I am a new user of HTC phones, and bought a HERO after going through this website and reading the posts w.r.t. Android etc.
I have a few queries, which I am sure will appear quite basic to most of you, however, there are quite greek to me. I am in New Delhi, India and bought my phone a week ago.
1.
I have read about a firmware upgrade to Hero phones. However, the helpline here says that there is no firmware upgrade available. The India page on the HTC website also does not list any upgrade. My phone is unlocked, although it shows another carrier's logo in the first screen, but no other issue. My firmware version shows 1.5 and Build no. shows 2.73.720.5. Is this the latest version or is this upgradeable?
2.
There have been a couple of instances where my phone has frozen, and no button has worked. I have had to remove the battery and re-insert to get it to work again. Is this normal? I haven't had a smart phone before so I wouldn't know the actual behaviour.
3.
I dropped my phone from about 3 feet, and it opened up with its battery flying out and a few minor nicks and scratches on the body and not the screen. No other apparent damage, but could this cause performance issues?
4.
Is there a way to sync this phone manually without having to use Google or Windows? Can I directly access the phones contact list and messages etc, like a data stick?
Would appreciate answers.
Thanks in advance.
RK

Very weak GSM signal!

Hey guys,
I really really really need your help on that.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to upgrade my X10i (Android1.6) from build 24 to 26. I tried to do it OTA but I couldn't. I tried several times clicking on the "Update now" option on the "Software Update" feature but I always get a message saying "No update available". Then, I found a way to update my phone here in XDA-DEVELOPERS that requires rooting the device. I successfully upgraded it, and everything was going well. I did not notice any major changes but better performance of course.
When SE announced that they are going to release the 2.1 update, I read an article about the update, and it was saying that only non-rooted devices may be able to get the update sooner and those with rooted devices need to wait for unknown period. So, I looked over the web for debranding solution, and found one that uses SE software called "PC Suite 2.0". After installing the SW and debranding my device, I noticed that my device GSM signal drops down so easily. I never saw my device getting full 4 bars since then, always 3 or less. Even more, I can not make calls inside buildings (1 bar / no signal). When I make calls while driving, I get disconnected every 1 minute > ("No service")
I decided to turn my mobile off, and insert the SIM to my other phone "HTC Hero" until SE releases the new update (2.1). I, unfortunately, had to wait ~ 6 weeks till that day, and when I downloaded the update I didn't notice any difference. I tried the Nordic thing, and I tried the original update. No one of them seems to get my device any better signal reception.
Please guys, I need an urgent help.
UPDATE:
Just noticed that when I put my x10i on matt surface, the signal all gone. When putting it on wooden surface, I get ~2 bars. And when putting it close to my macbook, I get full reception.
I'm not an expert on this kind of things and I really have no clue why is that happening. I just noticed it when I picked my phone up from the matt ground and put it on my wooden table!!

I think you, must update after 2.1 nordic version in step 2 to Global version (step 1 update to 2.1 nordic version)
Try with this you loose the root, to update to 2.1 Global is necesary update to nordic 2.1 first.
greetings
G'day Picaron,
I mentioned in the OP that I already tried all the 2.1 options:
"I tried the Nordic thing, and I tried the original update. No one of them seems to get my device any better signal reception."
Any other suggestions?
So, no one knows how to fix it?
X10i is dead after upgradation to 2.1
I also tried to update my previoius version 1.6 to 2.1 torugh SE update service but it bricked my phone. Now I can't switch it on while screen is blank. It viberated while I switch on but stays as it is. I tried numerous times but at the end of installing update it fails. I have tried other options for debranding to Nordic version which flashes till last step but nothing worked and my cell remains dead after restart. I called up SE service people who eventually told me as 2.1 update is expected to be released in KSA within this week so I shall try updating it again once it's released locally (might be fixed).
Can any one help me as how can i get it worked as I bought this through ebay and can't get service backup here??

[Q] Camera Problem: Black Preview, Crashes, and Green Screen Pictures

Hello xda community!
History: Yesterday I bought a jailbroken LG p990 off craigslist. All seemed fine, I could tell the guy had opened it up, but it was put back together nicely, no scratches - basically out of the box.
Problem: When I got home, I tried the camera app, but it kept crashing and timing out. On occasions I could get past the crash but the camera preview was black, and when I took a picture it would just capture a green screen. Now my first inclination was that the camera was broken, but the behavior from the app it's self is puzzling. When I get past the crash, it runs slow is delayed and just does not work properly at all. So what I am wondering is if this can be caused by faulty frimware/kernel after the jailbreak.
My Troubleshooting: I am new to rooting/jailbreaking/rom/kernel flashing so I spent about 6 hours learning as much as I could yesterday. After alot of reading, I figured a flash of the rom/kernel might reset the firmware for the camera app: (similar problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841750). Got my self familiar with CWM and flashed a few different ROMs and Kernals onto the phone to no avail. (Dominationm, Cyanogenmod 7).
Other Options: Since I am so new to ROM/Kernel flashing, I may have not chosen the right flash - so I am wondering what might work (if this is the case). Another reason im guessing this isnt working is that when the guy put the phone back together, he didn't connect the camera properly. (I know enough to take a phone apart and put it back together so thats my next venture). *OR* the camera is just broken and I got scammed.
What I need help with from the XDA community: Could someone venture a reason as to why this might be happening? Can a camera's firmware break after jailbreaking or rooting? Is there a ROM/Kernel that can fix this issue or even a patch?
*Interesting link on a patch for similar camera issue with 4.0.4 non stock kernels*: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772931
Phone Info:

Thanks for taking the time ladies and gents. :fingers-crossed:

OTA Amber for EURO DEV ROMS

Hi,
Does anyone have any info or idea if the AMBER update will be available OTA for L920s with the DEV ROM? I don't see that entry in the update schedule page from Nokia. I just chatted with them and they said they have nothing scheduled at the moment, and suggested instead to go back to my ROGERS ROM (not even in my wildest dreams!).
I know I can flash it, but I don't want to go through the pain of doing everything again, including re-setting all my apps et al. If the OTA update comes out in a couple of weeks or so, I don't mind waiting, but I don't want to wait and then realise in a couple of months that it is not coming out and have to flash it anyhow.
Any news? Do we have to start making some noise on Nokia's forums and social media?
Thanks.

In case anyone else is wondering, I started getting the update OTA last week. I wasn't expecting it so my connection was very slow and I just soft reset it... Apparently, the download got somehow messed up upon resuming. To make a long story short, after it was installed, the screen lock didn't work properly: I could only unlock my phone right after it turned on; after that, it would not respond at all, so I had to soft-reset every time I wanted to unlock the screen -the other option being deactivating the screen lock altogether, but that doesn't look very promising, especially for battery consumption and pocket dials.
As it turns out, I ended up flashing the firmware, which is ironic because I could have done it a while ago when it came out, but didn't want to go through all the hassle.
My only problem now is that some apps that should work, like Nokia Pro Camera, do not allow me to install them. My firmware does say it is the latest version, and it also identifies the Lumia Amber in Details, but the app is not available.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

Question T-Mobile OnePlus N200 5G does not get Android 12

I have two T-Mobile's OnePlus N200 5G
One of them got Android 12 about 6 weeks ago.
Second one (received from T-Mobile few days ago under Trade In offer) is still on Android 11 and does not get any update (April 1 security patch of Android 11 is the last). Manual check does not get updates too.
How can I install Android 12 on this device?
it depends on what you want out of the phone.
T-Mobile pulled the Android 12 update back into development:
OnePlus 10 Pro 5G: Update to Android 13
Find out about the Android update on the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G.
www.t-mobile.com
I've not read anywhere as to the reason why they pulled it back, but clearly it must have been something significant enough that they suspended the rollout, rather than just fixing it with the next update.
My family also has two N200s, and one of them did the upgrade to 12. My son's is on 12 and has had few issues with his, and nothing significant to my knowledge. i kept delaying the update on mine until finally the update message went away when they pulled the update back, so i'm still on 11 and working just fine.
You could wait until T-Mobile addresses whatever they wanted to fix, and they push the update back out again via OTA (this is the solution i'm going to go with)
Not sure if the OOS12 image for the T-Mobile variant has been available on XDA, but you could check other threads here to see if anyone has it to download and install. you'd need to check whatever instructions are available on whatever thread you find it in to do that.
but, if you are wanting to go through the work of doing an OS install outside of the normal OTA, you may want to just check about the new official LineageOS being available for the N200. (if you want to try LineageOS, you would need to be on 11 to begin with anyway, which is conveniently where you are currently at)

I updated to 12 on my phone and had some issues so I msm'd back to 11 a week or so ago and just this morning got the notification for 12 again but with security updates for july. Perhaps they fixed some things up. Now that I know I can fall back to 11 no problem I will try out 12 again eventually.
I updated to 12 a couple weeks ago, I straight away noticed a problem receiving text msgs. I'd get the notification but when I went into messaging the text were gone. I was thinking about getting the phone replaced but thought to check for an update and Boom, there was an update saying RCS publish fix. I'm hoping I will no longer have the text disappearing. So far it looks fixed. I hope this helps
strange. Tmobile must be in some wonky dual development path hell.
I never completed the update to 12 when it was temporarily giving the messages to update, and it currently is still not giving me any messages about update, and Tmobile website says 12 is still in development. So they must still be working to put out a full 12 package for people to update from 11 to 12 who have never done so.
but if you've already updated to 12, then like duhhhm8, Tmobile is pushing an incremental update?
then there is Deejayadhd, who did update, then downgrated, and is getting the incremental message too? perhaps your device is tagged as having already updated to 12 so it's sending the incremental to you. it will be interesting how that will work. will the system figure out that it needs to send the full package again, or will it try to send the incremental 12 update to install into the current 11 system.
well, wtf.
my phone is just sitting there charging.
i go and doubletap the screen to wake it up, because i hear that i received a notification.
for a fraction of a second it shows the tmobile logo, and goes black/off.
turn it back on, and 12 gets installed and i'm looking at the app optimization %
no prompt to choose whether i wanted to or not, nothing.
just shut itself off and upgraded itself
whelp. bugs or no bugs, i guess i'm getting to see how 12 works out

if you hated 12 (I won't blame you), MSM back to 11 and go in developer options and disable automatic system updates and you should be able to install the april patch. after that, it shouldn't automatically reboot.

well, so far i think i've been ok. no major issues on 12 for me.
i think the one most irritating is the poor gmail/google notifications.
but my previous phone had the problem of the background updater kept getting killed so i would frequently go into accounts and uncheck gmail sync and recheck gmail sync to restart the background process and get my notifications working again.
so i'm already in the habit of regularly checking if gmail sync/notifications are working anyway. just a bummer that it was ok on 11, and now it's borked on 12 and i'm now back to old habits to address
I had absolutely nothing but problems with 12.. I had the original update.. Msm's to 11... Got the new android 12 update... Fixed a lot... But honestly... Didn't work great. I eventually called oneplus' support line to fix the bug about having a snapdragon 855... They said they were putting it on there to do list. So.. Cool. But then... Lineage OS was released for it.. And I was like: by Oxygen OS (Color OS brother/sister at this point). I had one issue with Lineage, but I think it might be device-specific (meaning my individual device). The Lineage OS update is phenomenal! It makes Color OS... I mean Oxygen OS 12, seem slow. Very slow.

in an update it does get android 12. Mine is one android 12 now after an update 2 weeks ago
I ended up downloading the update before it was pulled and have so many regrets. The most crippling issue is a seemingly unfixable bug that causes both wifi and cell signal to cut out at random, which is effecting both me and my other family members with the same phone. I also just generally hate the weird psudeo-ColorOS that i've been using. Sadly an authenticator app I need to use for work would make wiping the thing in the name of the OS downgrade too much of a pain, so I've just decided to order a different phone at this point.
