When I recieve an SMS while in a call the phone starts to read the sender of the SMS. This disturbs my call and I want to deactivate this. How do i do it inmy Galaxy S2?
You probably have driving-mode on. Double press the home button to disable it.

I had checked with the driving mode... it is off. but still i do have the problem
Either,
Settings- Call- Call alert- Alerts on call- Off/Sound/Voice/Vibration
Or,
Settings- Voice Input and Output- Text to speech settings- Driving mode settings- Untick Message.
Regards.

I have looked up and down on XDA and Google, they all say go to settings in the default messaging app and turn off notifications. I did all that, but I still receive two sound alerts and two visual notifications. I attached a picture. I use GO SMS, I just want to receive one darn notification not two!! Please help XDA Guru's!

are you sure you turn off? do you have another SMS notification installed? like SMS pop up,if dont just make sure disable in settings on default notification sms app.
uninstall and reinstall GO SMS
When you turn off the setting hit the back button NOT the home button. Pressing home will not comfirm the setting.
Do this and I can almost guarantee that it will work.

I did that still nothing, the settings are saved when I go back into the settings portion of the default SMS app
When I first got the phone yesterday all was behaving normally. (Ie. Vibrate when receiving call and not during SMS) I then proceeded to configure Widgetsoid and probably accidentally pressed the wrong button on the sound toggle button.
As you are aware there is clearly no option to select "Vibrate on/off" in the SMS settings menu, so I was wondering how one could remedy the problem without using Sound Profile to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Is it possible?
As further info, I have set it to vibrate at incoming calls but I can't set it to not vibrate in incoming SMS.
My bank sends me SMS each time my credit card is used. Many companies charge my card at the beginning of the day (i.e. 00:01 hours) and that time I am on bed and the vibration annoys me.
When I go to message settings there is no option for vibration, only ringtone settings, which I have set to silent.
When I open the message app and go to settings I have an option "Also vibrate when notified". That's the stock messaging app on 2.3.6.
Archer, thanks for replying. I am on 2.3.3 and there is no such setting. Can you tell me under which tab do you see it?

It's just the stock messaging app. I go into settings and scroll down to the bottom.
Hi there.
My Sony Xperia S does not vibrate for incoming text messages. The options in
Messages-> settings -> vibration notification is checked.
Also in Settings -> Sound -> Vibrate -> always on .
The phone neither vibrates when sound is ON nor when it is OFF..
Rest it vibrates for incoming calls and keypad touch..
Please HELP..!!!
Go to the messaging app, press the menu button and choose settings. In there youll find the vibrate settings for messages
But agreed. Makes no sense that there isn't a shortcut from the settings app or something
Sendt fra min Xperia S via Tapatalk
try this solution
I used to had the same problem and the solution that work for me was downloading this app called "VIBRATION WIDGET".. You just search for it on the market (i cant post links for now)
This is a widget that when you activate it pops up a window that ask you to turn on the vibration (notifications, calls, etc) just click YES/ACTIVATE and there you have it. Problem solved
Sorry about my awefull english
Thanks button if you find this usefull
DONE..!!!
Finally m done with it..
Factory reset was done..it works now...
I have it on Always Vibrate but it only vibrates on incoming calls . Never on texts. Can someone help me out???
Open text messaging> menu button> settings> should be an option to disable or enable vibrate on notification.
