When I look at SE's posts about generic handsets, could I take the SIM out and then update it? Would that work?

soo ive had the 2.1 global genric on my x10a since the flash tool was released and everything has been working fine except my x10a thinks its an x10i. Its no real problem but i would like my phone to say the right thing. is there a file i can change to fix this? i already have root access and root explorer. thanks in advance

There is no official X10a 2.1 update.
If you want your X10a to think it is an X10a, then wait for the official X10a update and install that (you'll most probably have to flash your old factory ROM first).
Yes you can, I thinks it is in the build.prop file

thanks, took a look at it... should i just switch the x10is into x10as? will i brick my cell?

I haven't done it myself, though it is mentioned often in this forum and nobody has bricked it by changing the name.

I'm seeing a lot of different ways to update the xperia x 10 all I require is a simple update if I use the rogers update as is will it work without error. I don't want to root just want to benefit from updating.

requesting that this thread be moved to QandA or deleted as there are plenty of these threads already.
A simple yes or know would have been great.

Is build 2.0.2.A.0.24 will be the last update of x10 mini/pro ???
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
yes
In a way, yes, because the rest of the 'update's SE will release for us early-adopters will be in a word, crap.
Aaahh :-(
Maybe i'll sell it to buy a new one with froyo or gingie...
Never buy SE android again!
Crap!

whats new with this update anyway? i just updated and havent noticed anything except that i have less free phone memory.
Some of the features work faster like camera. It was working very slow on the earlier update and also xda wasn't able to root it until some time ago.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can tell what the original BB version was for a Vodafone branded UK x10i.
I dont need to rebrand the phone just wondering what the BB was as I cant remember...
Or if I apply the UK generic firmware will I get back to the original BB?
Many thanks.
yes, when you flash generic ROMs, it will change the baseband. IDK if it will be the original, because when I first got mine( 1.6) it was on bb 46, but when I updated to 2.1 it went to bb .54. depends if your phone is x10a or x10i. model won't stop your phone from working with any baseband, but it will have been determined by model type

oops, you said x10i, then on 2.1, you would be on bb .55

Hello my wife has the sony ericsson x10 and we updated it to the new firmware. She doesn't like it. Is there anyway to go back to 1.6 firmware and if so how.
Thank you

To let you know, your x10 will lose some functionality on the phone if she downgrades from 2.1 to 1.6. Like the camera, software enhancemeaces, speed, and others. Did you still want to continue?

Lol yeah she hates the upgrade. Of course she is insane but lol

Use the Flash Tool to flash original operators firmware....

when you say lose function. it will still work or not at all.
Wow everyone can't wait for 2.3 but she wants 1.6. Cool

Maybe some sharper images in camera and no hd camera in 1.6.

Well I miss the curved lock screen and there were plenty of spots to put a reject or silence buttons.

Use flashtool to get the 1.6 stock firmware, but I highly sugest to keep 2.1, you can try to istalling a theme.
You can use the androxyde and bin4ry's flashtool to downgrade: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
And you can search the 1.6 firmware here in my tread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872298&page=1
She told me today her applications are crashing on the new update. If it was me I wouldn't own the xperia. But she likes sony Ericsson.
