The EVO 3D's codec support is garbage, try downloading an after market video application such as Diceplayer or Vplayer. I recommend Diceplayer for any video watching needs.

3d movies

what are you guys using to watch 3d movies??? i have tried diceplayer, it just shows 2 videos side by side.
the stock video player is the only one that can play 3d so far I think

hmmm.. what about a .mov 3d?
Yeah, the stock player is the only one that works so far. I wish quickpic and vplayer would update for 3D. Hopefully soon.

[Q] Problems viewing HD movies?

Does anyone else experience lag when watching HD movies? The movies in question are mp4. I get dropped frames and out of sync audio/video when using the stock video player or mobo.
I had no issues watching them on my Epic.
I use MX Player and its great.

I used it and it still doesn't work right. Maybe it's just the encoding that was done to the vids. Just strange that it worked flawlessly on the Epic and is so choppy on the Photon.

3d movies player app

You know some player who has a 3D playback options besides that is factory installed?Needs a movie where you can rerun the SBS format by pressing the "play in 3d". Unfortunately, the factory can not cope well with mkv files

I think he means apps that let you play SBS videos in 3D.
If that's the case there's no app that allows us to do this yet =( I've been looking for one too because the default player doesn't remember the last watched position on movies.

Mx video player, supports 3d playback
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk
Both Moboplayer and MX Player support 3D playback. However, it depends on the file. I found that both players have no difficulty playing youtube 3D videos that I've downloaded (yt3d), however, actual 3D movies converted to work on the EVO 3D will not play in 3D. They will only play with two images side by side. There must be some flag that is set in the youtube videos that tells the players to play them in 3D that is not set in the 3D movies. I'm not sure how to correct that.
At least the stock video player has the option to set the file to play in 3D so it plays the 3D movies just fine.

That option is only available in the stock video player. It is not in either MoboPlayer or MX Player that I could find.
If it is, please post a screen shot showing where that appears in MoboPlayer or MX Player.
Thanks,
It just works from pressing play. Mx player.

Certain 3D files will but others will not and instead, displays side-by-side. I did about an hour of testing with both MX Player and MoboPlayer the other day. As I said before, Youtube 3D videos seem to work just fine but 3D movies require the stock player so that you can force them to play in 3D rather than SBS
In summary we can only use stock player and assume that there is no other to play sbs movis?

Well, the youtube (yt3d) videos are sbs as well. So I would say that in summary, if you're going to play 3D movies (like full length feature files) you'll need the stock player. If you're playing youtube 3D videos, other players will work as well.

Is HTC Watch the only app to watch 3D movies with?

Does anybody know if there are any alternatives to HTC Watch for viewing 3D movies?

You can watch 3D movies from the gallery if you purchase and download them to your SD card or Rip a 3D movie that you may have from a Blu-ray disk and convert it to work on the EVO 3D.

If anyone wants to try a 3D movie I did shoot me a PM on IRC.

I can confirm it...somewhat. I did some testing of both MoboPlayer and MX player. Both will play youtube 3D (yt3d) just fine. However, when you try to play 3D movies converted to play on the Evo3D, it only plays them as side by side videos. There isn't a switch to make it play them as 3D like the stock player. So to answer your question, yes...sort of.

Best video player on Evo 3D

In the sea of video players, which one is the best on our Evo(lution) 3D machine?
Currently using BS Player Lite but its kinda buggy, and some videos are lagging.
Best one by far (IMO) is MX Video player https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&hl=en
Totally smooth with a lot of good features. And the UI is clean, you can choose between white and black. And 3D works on it as well

The Best in my opinion which supports all formats is Dice Player
free -----> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inisoft.mediaplayer.trial&hl=en
paid -----> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inisoft.mediaplayer.a&feature=related_apps
never had any issues or lag with it.

Downloaded the free version but it is real laggy using the hardware decoder but fast using the s/w fast decoder. I saw a bunch of other MX downloads for cpu types but didn't see anything for the evo 3d unless I am missing something.

As you said, updates are based on CPU, not on phone model so Its normal you was unable to find it.

The normal version is the one I use. Via software decoding as that's super fast and works perfectly
MXPlayer is great . . . but there's the occasional frameskipping with 1080P content.
Diceplayer, for that reason - is better on our phones. It's one of the few apps I've decided to pay for. Smooth 1080P playback - and it's regularly updated.
It's funny though - that depending on the device, MXPlayer might be the better option regardless of price. Diceplayer appears to have fine tuned hardware decoding on the Evo3D.

Holy crap, Mobo Player is far from the best video player. For the Evo 3D at least, it's terrible.
Based on the positive reviews on this thread, I downloaded and installed it to see if recent updates might have improved performance since the last time I tried it.
Playing the same 1080P DTS sample file I use to test, Mobo flickers (frameskips) when playing the video track with hardware decoding. It utterly fails to play the audio - unless you use software decoding, and then the whole video plays in slow motion.
Both MX Player and Diceplayer are far superior. Both can use hardware decoding for the video, and software for the 5.1 audio. Diceplayer performs a little better, no frameskipping. Both do great over HDMI.
Besides that - swapping between HD files, moboplayer locked up my phone completely so that holding power wouldn't allow me to shut down. I had to do a battery pull.
Anyone knows video player that shuffles videos?
