[Q] - Can anyone provide a clean /system dump from stock Gingerbread ROM? - Optimus One, P500, V General

I was wondering if anyone could provide a clean /system dump for the stock Gingerbread ROM update. I would need a an English version. I would like to try to port it to the CDMA device, Optimus S.
I cannot extract the files from the official downloads in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140862. If you could tell me how to extract that would be just as good.
Thank you!

You need simply unyaffs2 to extract the contents of the system.mbn from downloaded .kdz file, when success you have all the contents of the rom - no language specific files,
its compiled in APKs, JARs and libraries. to get a gsm rom to work on a CDMA phone you
need cdma libraries at least, possibly another phone-,sms and other apps because all these files are compiled for GSM.

Uploading V20E for Europe. It is ready for kitchen modifications and untouched

Ok, I learned something new! Thanks! I thought the .mbn was some special format that was unreadable by PC, lol

[Kitchen] osKitchen + Manila 2019 UPDATED

Hi all, I decided to upload my own kitchen for the Raphael. As all the existing downloadable kitchens i've seen for our devices are still Ervius's kitchen, i thought i'd add the latest ondRasters/airxtreme's AMAZING NEW kitchen to the mix. Its the latest (as of now) OsKitchen Zero v1.31RC2 loaded with WM6.5 build 24620 and the Manila VGA port 2016 - This kitchen has ONLY WWE files included as thats what i cook but you can easily add other languages for new builds. It has many apps included and tweaks.
I would firstly like to Thank SilentP - he very kindly shared his kitchen with me and without his help i'd still be struggling with cooking Manila (sooo many files!!!) - you'll still see some of his files in my new osKitchen. Thanks to airxtreme and ondRaster for their excellent work on osKitchen. Programatix for all his work with Manila 2016 VGA port and all who worked on it including mkucuksari, ted973, Madnish30. All who's apps i have included and tweaks i have used. And obviously a HUGE thanks to all at XDA-DEV/mobileunderground/DFT/Boomer/mwang and all who contribute.
If i have included your work/mod/app etc in my kitchen and haven't mentioned your name then please let me know and i will add you to the list immediately and please accept my apologies in advance.
You can find the latest info and updates for osKitchen by airxtreme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948
For ondRasters original osKitchen thread see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581715
I have uploaded the files to MultiUpload so there are plenty of mirrors:

http://www.multiupload.com/CPOUOW2ZQ0
WARNING: This kitchen is setup for GSM TP's ONLY - if you have a CDMA TP then you will have to import an original CDMA TP ROM from HTC first - DO NOT FLASH A GSM ROM TO YOUR CDMA DEVICE.
If you have trouble extracting the files then please download the latest version of 7zip here: http://www.7-zip.org/
If i add/change anything on my own kitchen in the future then i will upload the change here so you can add it to your own kitchen if you want. Its worth keeping an eye on airxtreme's osKitchen page as well because he is continually updating it and adding new features etc - osKitchen....The best kitchen available!!!
If you find i have left any of my own personal data in then please let me know and i'll remove it.
Also if i can be of any help then please let me know

Hi. Would it be possible to include some classic 6.5 build i.e. 21911 (with win icon in the upper left screen corner)? Unfortunately 6.5.5 builds cause graphics distortion in many apps, so plenty of users (like myself) prefer to use older branches...

Hey rabinhood, Its so easy to import new builds with osKitchen. Just download the build number you want from DFT or Chef central then use the import tool. The more builds i add, the bigger the upload which is why i stripped out all the other builds - i don't use COM2 branch.

Second , I'm still have the extracting problem after download the last 7z version , now i'm downloading all files again and we will see
Hey zinzar, maybe your Antivirus app is getting in the way of the extraction. There is a file inside the kitchen (osnbtool) that my AV app doesn't like (Norton IS 2010). What i do when i download a kitchen is firstly disable the antivirus app and download the file(s). Then i extract out the kitchen to where i want it then add that dir to the 'ignore' list in NIS - this way NIS won't keep removing osnbtool.
The files are fine.

I will come back to you with the result
now let is talk about your work , please try to import Cracing open source files to your kitchen , his rom was like magic ( fast and stable ).

Hey zinzar, I don't cook WM6.1 and have never bothered with the 20***/21*** branches, i like the new GUI with COM3/5 builds but if you want to add it to your kitchen then it should be a simple import process. airxtreme has made importing new builds etc very easy with this kitchen.
As a general rule COM2 (21***/20***) builds are classed as 'fast and stable' and up until a few months back i would have agreed but with our devices having enough free RAM i see no reason not to have the latest GUI and feature (threaded email etc).
My old ervius kitchen had lots of builds and different versions of apps/tweaks etc in but was HUUUUUUGE and VERY MESSY!!! This is why i started to use osKitchen. I wanted to remove all the old tweaks that don't work with Manila 2016 etc and ONLY leave the newest versions of apps and tweaks that i use - this way i have a nice clean easy to use kitchen, which i thought i would share.
Let me know if you still have trouble extracting out the files.

REQ -Cornerstone multitasking

The proyect its now opensource, can anyone compile this? like a stand alone app so we can install it in any tablet?
https://github.com/Onskreen/cornerstone
Thx
It is unfortunately not that simple. CornerStone has parts that come as patched system files.
It needs to either be included in a ROM or come as a patch (.zip) for a specific ROM.

You can use dsixda's amazing android kitchen to bake it in. What you need to do is take your ROM and set up the kitchen with it. Once that is done you go into the advanced option of the kitchen and select unpack boot. Then in the boot-extracted folder you replace the zImage with the zImage of your new kernel you want. Once copied you repack the boot.img and then copy the modules from the new kernel into the ROM.

If you're interested in learning how to integrate the kernel yourself instead of using a kitchen, the process is fairly simple.
There are two main areas you'll need to add into the ROM
1) The actual kernel, generally a boot.img file.
2) The associated kernel modules, usually stored in /system/lib/modules.
The best way to add in these two sets of files.
1) The kernel boot.img can be added into the root of the update.zip file. The associated code needs to be added to the updater-script file which will essentially write the boot.img into the boot partition memory. Great example can be found in my ROM . The updater-script code should be the same for CDMA and GSM, as the function is fairly generic.
2) Associated kernel modules can be easily copied into the system/lib/modules directory of the update.zip file and will be copied over along with the rest of the ROM by the current package extract command in the updater-script.
Hope that helps add some technical detail and best of luck!

A way to batch odex a custom rom

Hi,
Would asomeone of you guys be so kind to tell me how to odex FRAMEWORK files (jars) and system apps. Especialy, do it in batch - once for all files.
Maybe some script, a working one, becouse I unsuccessfuly tried the scripts on xda for odex ICS, and i used SGS3's BOOTCLASSPATH
from init.rc
BOOTCLASSPATH /system/framework/core.jar:/system/framework/core-junit.jar:/system/framework/bouncycastle.jar:/system/framework/ext.jar:/system/framework/framework.jar:/system/framework/framework2.jar:/system/framework/android.policy.jar:/system/framework/services.jar:/system/framework/apache-xml.jar:/system/framework/filterfw.jar:/system/framework/sec_edm.jar:/system/framework/seccamera.jar

And you maybe know if it is possible to odex custom rom files where you don't have the original odex files...
so using the odex files from stock rom (the same the custom rom is based on).
I tried it with some script and bootlooped...
What I would like to do, is to take a custom rom and odex it. As quickly as possible.
I would love using a custom rom but not losing the advantages of ODEXed rom...
I would appreciete your help.
Rgds,

I took the first option (build full rom zip) after deodexing.
Is it good enough or do I still need to select specific custom zip to build?

It depends on what you want to end up with. If you only want the full rom zip then full rom is good. If you want more zips with different contents, make more

How did you unpack the moto x system image with this kitchen?
I just tested the moto x vzw 5.1 system image with no luck.
Many moto firmwares use an encrypted sparse format (MOTO.W›.MOT_PIV256).
I am able to use imgextractor (windows) to dump the image and list of symlinks, as well as get image info, but I haven't found any linux utilities that can handle this format.
At one point I got to plug-in my device - so far, so clear, but what if I make a rom for a device I don't have

You only need to plug in your device if you are ripping the img's from it. Normally you can get the by-name info from a boot.img. If the device does not use by-name you will need to create an mmc file and still don't need to plug in the device.

I am trying to create a custom rom for “Huawei Mediapad T1 8.0”. I just need a flashable rom from the stock system.img and boot.img.
I am using “dell Inspiron 15r n5010” model computer with 4gb ram and 500 gb harddisk, dual booting windows 7 with linux mint rafaela.
Version of super kitchen is 0.9.0.4. version of android 4.3 (emui 1.6)
I extracted system, boot, recovery from device using the super kitchen by options 1 and 4.
After the extraction i checked out the options and at some point kitchen wanted me to choose from set_meta or set_perm, i chose set_meta but it said that my kernel doesnt support the set_meta type and chose set_perm by default.
Using the kitchen, I debloated the firmware.
Then built the fullrom zip.
I tried to flash using TWRP recovery, but it doesnot allow me and said , “This rom is for 'msm8610' devices, This is a 'mediapadt1'”. I thought to delete that line from updater script. But didnot delete because, that may need some changes in other files too.
I think that buildprop product name is differing from recovery product name.
I have attached files i was using,, I am new to linux and also android rom building..
