Help! I changed the backlight settings and now when it boots, it loads properly and after bootup goes black. Gtab is on but can't see anything to get to the settings and correct. Is there a way to flash in recovery just the backlight setting without losing everything? In the worse position because the only backup I have is after the mistake was made and I'm not sure if the backup in Clockwork saves any apps and settings at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 1.2 bootloader.

reflash.
In case you never read this anywhere, you should NEVER do a Ti Restore of system + data, EVER, unless you backed up on the same exact ROM. None the less, I'd avoid doing that as it always causes wierd ones if you manage to avoid any severe ones.
thanks for the reply ive added a few extras but was having issues with 3g conections and web in general whilst out and about so restored back to stock from a backup i made
is there any custom roms avalible which are more for the uk phones as it was telling me i was roaming due to it being based on an at&t rom lol
Hey I have tried installing CM7 using the different methods discussed both here and on cyanogenmod forum. I have repartitioned and cleared user data and remounted data/system at various steps with the same result.
Once I boot up into CM7 the startup wizard does its thing but after the clock settings page the wizard crashes. note-I didn't bother with google account bc wifi isn't setup yet.
Then when i get to "home" screen it is blank (black). I can see icons top right but the don't do anything and android buttons (search, home, menu, back) do nothing. I can pull down the top menu to turn off/on wifi, bluetooth ect. and see notifications but thats it. The rest of the screen is completely black!
thanks,
starfltcdrjr
Have you taken your cm7 zips from more than one source? Are you on 1.1 or 1.2 bootloader?
What do you mean by boot loader? I was able to load vegan 7 ok but i'm back to 5 again for now. I got the zip for cm7 from their official site.
got it all figured out. It must have had something to do with the bootloader. (finally figured out what that meant ). anywho got it working thanks to

I posted this in fascinate forums and haven't been able to get any help, so I figured I would post here as well. I have been running cm7 and installing the nightlies as they come out. When I flashed nightly #9, I lost complete use of my soft keys. Imagine how annoying it is to have to reboot to change screens. I installed a catlog to see if I could figure out what was going on, but I know absolutely nothing about programming. So, this is what I think I figured out. In the bootup, there's no device for "mice", says something about device not found, and then there's another error in system bootup about the"face" error. So I think I have lost something in the system bootup that runs my soft keys.
Does anyone else have issues with their soft keys? Before I lost them totally, my back button would activate all by itself until everything and I mean everything was closed.
I haven't been able to go back to stock to see if that works because I haven't had any computer access since this happened. I will be home tomorrow, so I can see if that helps.
If anyone has any other insight, I'd be really glad to know.
Thanks,
Mona

I had the same issue when I flashed to Paranoid Android, a jellybean based ROM. Everything worked fine for me with Cyanogenmod 7.2, then I flashed to Android 4.1 and lost the use of the soft keys. I still haven't resolved the issue.
For the record

In case anyone else has this issue, I tried flashing a stock Froyo ROM, a stock Gingerbread ROM, CM 7.2 again, and even stock GB with the latest Verizon Wireless update for GB and the softkey functions never returned. I've managed to put Paranoid Android 2+ back on the Fascinate, a Jellybean ROM, so I can mimic the buttons with onscreen controls, but it eats up a lot of screen real estate. It's a workaround, not a solution by a long shot.
I accidentally factory restored my phone this morning. But that is not the pickle. At the end of the initial account setup, the phone force closes the setup. And after that I don't see anything on the screen except for the notification bar. I can work with the notification bar that is switch on/off GPS, data, etc. But rest of the screen is black. Since the screen is black, Cant access any setting and toggle USB debugging to use KDZ. Can get calls and use the settings that come up there. But I guess that's about it. I think this is happening cause the option to setup Google account don't come up during initial setup. What can I do? Any ideas other than going to the service center?
did you had a custom rom installed

[Q] is it safe turn off "keep awake" / wakelock for "Android System" ?
in app ops, what happens if i turn this off? thanks,
I wouldn't touch that. It could mess up quite a bit of stuff.
Hi xda-community,
I've been stupid enough to deny android system the wakelock rights. I was a little to quick but the google play service ate 25% of my battery today, and so I just messed around with App-Ops.
I'm running CM10.2 nightly on my sgs2. I've already tried to get into the safe mode with holding Vol+ and - while booting, but it wasn't successfull. The Phone is stuck on the boot logo.
Is there any way besides a reset?
Edit: Just tried reflashing the recent update but it's still stuck...
Edit2: Just did a backup to sd card via CWM. My current plan is to modify this update in a way to let app-ops forget his settings. Is this possible? Any clue where I have to look?
Edit3: Just did rm -R * on /data/data/com.android.providers.settings. THIS DOES NOT CLEAR APP-OPS SETTINGS but my phone booted afterwards and i had enough time to revert my previous changes. Need to reconfigure some of stuff obviously.
Edit4: Deleting everything with the cmd in Edit3 will cause the notificationbar to malfunction. Furthermore you won't recieve any notifications. I just restored the files from my backup i made with CWM (adb push c:\backup /data/data/com.android.providers.settings and everything is working again. Now I'm really done
bye

I denied the keep awake of Android system and I am gone. My touch didn't work. I did forced restart using the power button. It worked for sometime. Again the touch doesn't work. In the allowed time, I set it to Allow but still i face the issue. Is factory reset the only solution?
