[SOLVED] Battery LED problem - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all, i've an HTC Gratia that i've rooten with Alpharevx and then i've installed cyanogenmod 7.0.3 for Aria. Everything (for now ) is ok, but the only thing that has stopped to work properly is the led when i charge the battery.
When the phone is on and plugged, the led becomes green when the percentage is about 80-85% and not when is 100%
When the phone is off, if I plug the cable the led is always orange, even after a night and if I remove the cable the led continues to stay orange until I press the power button to turn on the device.
Has anyone the same problem with Aria or has anyone a solution?
Thanks a lot.

This is normal. It turns green at 90%.

Hmm, it remains on after unplugging? Which version of Clockworkmod did you install?

That's not the Clockworkmod version. But anyway, when your phone is turned off and you plug it in to charge, does a picture of a battery show up on the screen?

No, nothing appears, even when my htc was original.
EDIT
The version of clockworkmod is 2.5.0.1

OK, you need to download and install this: http://www.mediafire.com/?mp6tgmgl51bi923
Repeat the steps you took after you obtained S-OFF to install Clockworkmod, but use this img file instead. It will overwrite the old version. This version (2.5.1.7) fixes the problem with off-mode charging.

Same problem here, Gratia s-offed with Alpharev and rooted with unrevoked. Still on Stock -Rom, means clockworkmod (2.5.0.1) has been installed via unrevoked.
Do you mean I have to root again with unrevoked?

Thank you very much, asap i will try this fix and post the result.

Ok i have flashed this new recovery and the problem of led seems to be fixed. I've to verify is led turns green but at first complete charge i'll tell you. The only thing that i've noticed is that the reported version of clockworkmod is 2.5.0.7 and not 2.5.1.7 as the filename says.
Thank you very much.

No, since your phone is S-OFF, you can overwrite the recovery using the standard methods. One of the easiest methods is the one described under "Install Clockwork Recovery" heading on this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159237

@drumist
THX for quick reply, just one more "nooby" question: Will overwriting the recovery hardreset the phone? Means do I have to install my phone completely new (via Nandroid)? Or does it change only the recovery and erverything else remains "untouched"?

Ok, everityng seems to work now! Thanks a lot!

[Q] Issue booting into Recovery

I've searched high and low for someone having a similar problem to no avail, so here it goes:
I previously rooted my phone using the one touch root method, and flashed kaosfroyo. I ran that ROM for a good while until I started having issues receiving text messages. I took my phone back to stock to see if that would fix the issue, which it did, but now I can't boot back into recovery to try to re-root. The issue I'm having is that when I try to boot into recovery using either the Vol up+end method or going through the hboot menu, it flashes the Androids on skateboards splash screen and the screen then goes black. I have to pull the battery and restart for the phone to do anything after that. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!
*I do apologize if this has been covered before, but I've been looking for it for a few hours now and have not found it.*
Flashing back to stock unroots you which means you no longer have a custom recovery. Just download the 1 Click Root apk again, install, and run it. After it has worked it's magic and your phone has rebooted, you will have access to amon-ra recovery and can flash a new ROM.

I actually have tried that, and it doesn't work either. I forgot to mention that, sorry. I run the root, power down, but when I try to boot into recovery it does the same thing.

If you haven't already, maybe try the rooting method on the wiki:
How to Root Eris - XDA Wiki
Instead of the Recovery.img file they tell you to download, I'd suggest using the "1.7.1" recovery by scary alien which is a modified version of amon-ra. It allows the use of other physical buttons to navigate so if your trackball dies, you are still able to use recovery.
Amon_RA 1.6.2 Custom Recovery
If that doesn't work, I'd try following bftb0's instructions in this thread.

With 1-click root, you need to run the app, power down, power back up (like you wanted to make another phone call) - then power down and power up to recovery. From what you describe, you missed that intermediate power-up step.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me too. The first few times I rooted my phone I missed that step too and thought I'd bricked the phone, only to realize I needed to boot back up fully and then go into the recovery.
Hello,
I too faced same problem in the initials of rooting. what i did is rooted again, but super one click doest work.
So i rooted with,
unrevoked.com/recovery/
It worked for me.
and for switching recovery, i think best way is via droid explorer. downlaod droid explorer and then download amon recovery, and flash it.

[Q] Desire S dead after failed update

Hi,
I'm in desperate need for any help. I'll describe my situation:
After the phone offered me an update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, it remained screwed. When I returned to the phone after I started the update, I could see a red triangle with an exlcamation mark. Gradually, I found out how to access the recovery menu and the HBOOT. I did some googling in hope to solve my problem by myself, so a guy on a Czech android forum uploaded some PG88DIAG file which the HBOOT started loading for a while but always ended with an error like 'no image or wrong image'.
So I figured my phone data have gone to hell and moved on to try rooting the device. Again, I followed a guide so as not to mess anything up, but it seems that the odds are against me. I installed the driver, unistalled HTC sync, ran the phone in the USB fastboot mode, launched the unrevoked application with admin rights, turned every possible feature of my AV off and I just kep looking at the bloody 'waiting for device' message. Tried it on another PC, too.
If it can be of any use, my HBOOT version is 98.0002.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
(Make sure the drivers are installed on your PC) Boot into fastboot then reflash your stock rom.
Well, as a newbie, I have no idea how to reflash ROM. Care to help?

Download the RUU from here: http://www.filefactory.com/f/c64d333a2755a421/, then run it on your PC while your device is in fastboot.
Thanks, it worked! Now, could someone recommend me some ROM? I think it would be quite a pity not to root the phone now that've lost all data anyway.

Yes. Make sure you wipe the dalvik cache after you flash it.
Thanks. I have a tiny problem with the custom ROM, though. When I try to access the sound notification change (the one for messages), it says that Sound set has unexpectedely stopped (my translation) and it keeps crashing.
Is it a known bug in that ROM?

Help Please! Phone won't turn on

First off, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Mods, you may move this thread if need be. I was just shown this website about two weeks ago by a friend and have only been a lurker since. So I apologize if my first post is one needing assistance.
First off, I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to doing all this reboot, recovery, root, etc. But I can usually figure stuff out. I have researched how to do all this stuff over the last to weeks learning how to do all this. Let it be known that I was already rooted with siyah 3.4.2? kernel with superuser, CWM, and had ROM Manager downloaded. Last night I had finally decided to try and download a custom rom (AOKP), and I went through ROM Manager to try and reboot into recovery mode..the phone went dead. I have not been able to turn the phone on since last night. I have tried taking the battery out, trying to hold down volume buttons/power button to get into download mode, etc..But nothing is happening. When I power on, I can see the screen where it says "Samsung Galaxy SII" w/ the triangle, but then the screen goes black and nothing. In a dark room, you can see that the screen looks like it's trying to fire by flickering, but again...nothing. Sorry if this has been alot of reading, but I just want to be as thorough as I can. If anybody can tell me what went wrong, and how it might be fixed, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Remove the battery and replace it. hold the up/down volume and power button. The screen should light up. Continue to hold them until the phone goes into recovery mode. The phone should turn on and off a couple times before it enters recovery. Then wipe the data and caches. Hopefully at the point the phone will work. If it wont work you could always try to buy a download jig. They are only a couple dollars and can easily be found with a search.

@BigCohiba,
You need to get into download mode. You should be able to do that without using a jig. With the phone off, but with the battery still in the phone, hold down vol- and vol+ (but not power) while you plug in the usb cable.
The following instructions given by fakhri should also work:

After that, flashing siyah kernel alone may be enough to allow the phone to boot, but you may have trouble finding a Siyah in Odin flashable tar format.
...or, flash straight stock UCKH7, or flash stock plus root UCKH7. You can find download links for those in one or the other of the guides linked in my signature.

[Q] Rezound wont turn on

Well I've really done it this time. The phone will not power up at all. Ever since the whole Google Maps Rebooting issue the phone has been worthless. It hasn't been able to be turned on in a week. Just black screen. Before it completely failed it would boot, but after about 10 seconds it would restart or power off.
I have a feeling that the battery is not charging. When I plug it in to charge the orange battery led lights up but for only a couple of seconds and then it turns off. Maybe I need to get an external charger or something to charge my battery.
I would love to send the phone back for warranty, but I'm unlocked and rooted, so I am afraid that they won't help me out with warranty. Also, I would love to sell the phone, but obviously I'm not going to sell a phone that doesn't work.
If I could just get the phone to turn on so I can get some of my personal documents off of it that would be great. For some reason the phone stopped syncing contacts a few months ago and I need to get these off of the phone. Anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for any help/ideas.

does this file get flashed in recovery like a normal rom? Does it take me back to locked/non-rooted? Thanks.
Rename to PH98IMG.zip, put on the root of the external SD, boot to bootloader and it will do the rest automatically. Make sure you delete the file from the SD after you're done so you won't have trouble in the future.
EDIT: It might reboot two or three times during the installation and look like it's doing some things multiple times. That's normal, so don't panic.

Flashing the RUU will get you phone back to 100% right out of the box stock.
it will update your hboot to 2.27 and lock it.
it will wipe internal storage.
it will give you global firmware and kernel.
all you need to do is relock the device via fastboot command " fastboot oem lock"
then place zip on root of the sd card and rename it to PH98IMG.zip
boot into hboot and it will detect it.
first flash will update hboot, firmware, kernel, splash, radio
it will reboot automatically. (back to fastboot)
then go back to hboot and let it run one more time. (this will take a while as its wiping, formatting, then installing system files)
after its all complete it will boot the phone into the os.
Ok, I'm going to go for this tonight when I get off work.
Hopefully the RUU OS stops the rebooting problem I am having. I am currently running Scott's Clean ROM. I was working great since about May, but now even after a few wipes and re-installs, it still has the reboot bug. Phone won't stay on for longer than 5 minutes and it continually reboots and quickly drains the battery. Basically it is unusable. I was able to flash Amon Recovery and that did fix the charging issue, but it didn't help with the reboots.
Hopefully after the RUU it's back to stable.

[Q] Bricked HTC One. Urgent, Help?

I believe I have soft bricked my device. Earlier this morning I installed ARHD, it went into the AROMA Installer and went through the process of picking the mods that I wanted, I hit install & as soon as it hit 99 Percent, I was brought back to TWRP as if I didn't flash anything. Feeling confused, I hit reboot system and after the HTC Screen boots up, it takes me directly back to TWRP. I've never experienced anything like this before, what in the world did I do incorrectly? Please help, feel free to chime in.

Thats not a brick, thats a boot loop of sorts. If I were you I would try flashing back to 100% stock and start over.

How do I go about flashing this through fastboot? I have the stock ROM downloaded and everything but I don't get what I'm supposed to do.

Can you tell me where you downloaded the stock rom from so I can have a copy of it just in case I need to go back to stock? Also is this stock rom the T-Mobile stock rom? Thanks.

Downloading now but is this just a flashable zip of the stock software?
It's a NANDROID. Restore NANDROID in recovery mode.

I did the EXACT same thing, except now my internal storage won't mount, rendering the nandroid option useless. I tried flashing it via fastboot to no avail. Any suggestions, outside of waiting for the ruu to be released?

Well considering you're familiar with fastboot, what I did was relock my bootloader, unlocked it again and this time I installed CWM instead of TWRP, used adb sideload connected my device via usb cable, downloaded the stock ROM from @Mike1986 and pushed it to my device and profit. I learned my lesson not to use the touch screen and to use the power button to navigate through Aroma. I hope this helps..

Ironically I was gonna suggest not using touchscreen twrp, that it might be the problem. Only when using Aroma though (I believe). Touchscreen in Aroma using twrp is known to fubar phones at this point.
