Dock audio question - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the official Fascinate car dock, which works great, generally speaking. However, I have noticed a particularly annoying issue. I was previously on ComRom 2.1, and now am on jt's CM7, with the dock audio fix and the Galaxy S dock audio redirector app. In both cases, even though audio for most things comes through my car's speakers, in-call audio absolutely refuses to transmit via the USB connector. I have to manually press the speakerphone button and use it that way, which is really lame.
Before I had the dock, I hooked the cable directly to the phone's headphone port, and when a call came in, it would route the audio through the car speakers, and activate the speakerphone mic, as it should. I don't understand why the USB dock will not route the in-call audio properly. Is there a technical reason preventing it, or is it just a design deficiency?
Also, there is a Dock Audio setting in the Android OS settings that claims the phone must be plugged into a dock before you can access the settings, but when I actually do plug the phone into the dock, this option becomes grayed out entirely. Are the settings only available a desk dock or something?

Nobody? Am I the only one that uses the car dock or something? I can't believe I'm the only one that's frustrated by this lack of functionality in an official accessory.

Bluetooth stereo review

Having had so much help from this forum and being a non programmer thought I would try to give something back.
Recently bought the Sony MEX BT5000 car stereo. The install was really easy. I bought a cable to convert from my existing pre installed car stereo to a standard iso fitting. It is then just a matter of plugging the cables in and replacing the stereo. Due to the integrated bluetooth no problems with having to tap into speaker cables to mute the radio for calls.
I also ran a standard red/white phono cable from the back of my stereo via the AUX IN connection to plug into my MP3 player. The stereo has built in A2DP if you wanted to stream via bluetooth on your phone.
Call quality appears to be very good in both directions, no complaints so far. The mic is built into the stereo with no option on an external one. This did slightly concern me before buying but all is well. I had done some research and some people had experienced problems. I think this is due to the position of your stereo. mine is high up in the centre console. If yours is at the bottom you may experience problems.
There is no "talk" button similar to a earpiece. On pressing the talk button you get various dialing options to use presets, phonebook or dial a number. If you want to use Voice Command you just press the button on the phone and then it transfers the call to the stereo when it starts dialing. To receive a call just press the button on the strereo or set it to autoanswer.
Tom Tom works with no problems. All instructions come out the phone though if a call is received it will mute Tom Tom. I like it working this way as I wouldn't want TT to keep interrupting the stereo. It could be possible to make it work through the speakers but I haven't tried.
Stereo sound is good but I am no audiophile. It is way better than the standard stereo that was in the car before.
In all I would recommend it. Easy install with no messy wires involved and easy to pull out and transfer to my next car when required. most importantly the call quality is good.
Only downside would be the lack of "headpeice" talk button but the workaround works well. (I did read on xda somewhere somebody had it work that when using voice command after pressing the phone button the notification messages went straight to the speakers and used the stereo mic. after installing a cab upgrade this stopped working. I may try re-installing VC to see if I can get this to work.)
To install to the stereo phonebook uses a bluetooth transfer. haven't worked out how to this yet as only IR transfer seems to be allowed from the phone. Obviously using VC this doesn't really matter.
I just installed the MEX BT5000 in my car, too. My experiences with the BT phone are roughly the same as yours -- the mic works really well, considering it's hidden behind the faceplate.
I've gotten the phonebook transfer to work. Just select the contact, then tap Menu/Beam Contact. It'll try IR first, then Bluetooth. I have the Sim Access Profile (SAP) hack installed -- that may be the factor here.
The one issue with phonebook transfer is that the phone numbers don't display properly on the Sony -- I just see +1 with no areacode/phone number. The numbers dial properly, however.

Car Dock Audio through BT

I have the OEM Vibrant car dock, and my Vibrant is connected to my cars BT for phone and media. If I put my phone in the dock, and not engage the USB, my audio defaults to BT. If I push the USB in and "Dock" it, it triggers car mode, and all Audio defaults to speaker. I want it stay defaulted to BT. I have found apps that will default it to the 3.5mm audio jack, but nothing for BT. If someone knows of a way to prevent the phone from "docking", but still charge, or an app that will default audio to BT, please let me know.

[Q] Phone Call Audio thru the Car Dock's Line Out

When making a phone call using the official Samsung Car Dock, the caller's audio comes from the phone's internal speaker instead of the line out on the dock. To make matters worse, the dock blocks the internal speaker making it very hard to hear the phone call.
Is there a way to have the audio come thru the dock to my stereo? I have the AUX out connected directly to my stereo; and I checked the setting to pass audio thru the dock. Music and Navigation all send the audio to my stereo thru the dock; but phone calls are using the phone's internal speaker.
Previously, when I had the cable plugged in to the headphone out jack, the phone calls would play thru the stereo with no problem.
Any help or ideas? Hopefully, I'm just missing a simple setting somewhere...

[Q] Windshield Dock Settings

First off I have this mount. My Rezound is Stock. I can stream music through a cable but not voice calls. I cannot get the Bluetooth to work while it is in the dock. I can tell it to send it to BT but no sound comes through. I would really like to get Voice to come through my car speakers but I can't find any settings.
You said you've tried headphone jack plugged into car stereo via cable? Works fine for me using the same dock , stock and rommed, both before and after i uninstalled the dock program that was annoying. Has on all 3 of my android phones, usually with no dock. Have music or podcasts going, call comes in, shoots right through stereo. Bluetooth may be funky depending on how its setup with the car, stereo, or other device.
If a cable is not working, i'm baffled. Your stereo would need to be set to the "aux" input of coarse, and the cable plugged into to stereo/phone.
But how about the BT setup, what are you using for that?
That dock should have no impact on your BT connection. When you connect to your BT device, go into Settings, Wireless & Networks, Bluetooth Settings, find your device down at the bottom you're connecting to, hard press on it and select Options..., make sure both phone and media are checked under Profiles.
Yeah, for Bluetooth music streaming in my car I also had to tell my car to connect portable music player. Then I got the music working through my stereo in addition to the phone calls.

[Q] OEM Car Dock, Call through Speakers

Been looking for hours on this and other forums. I recently purchased the OEM RAZR (not Maxx) car dock. Everything works as is designed. So that's why I'm here.
Setup: USB w/ Y female 3.5mm audio plugged from dock to power, 3.5mm audio from the Y-connector to aux-in. My radio doesn't have bluetooth
Problem: By default when media is played on the phone it plays through the car speakers. When a call come through the audio cuts out (good) and the call goes through the speakerphone (bad)
I've seen a solution that works on the bionic, the droid 3, and the atrix using an app called Settings Profile. It works like tasker, if this and this then this. In this case its [If car docked, and a call is active, then active speakerphone off] The app works on the RAZR but even though you can change the timing at which it should occur the timing is never the same.
Has anyone else seen a solution for this? I've tried it on .211 and leaked .215 builds. Running stock leaked .215, no root. Thoughts?

I have the dock as well, I have a smart action set so when the phone connects to the car dock to auto reply to texts and turn off the speakerphone. Or maybe I just don't notice it. Smart Actions is the way to go if you want to set up car dock stuff IMO.

I can't seem to find anything related to speakerphone control in smart actions. What does your rule look like?
