DSP Manager on Evo 3D - no root required - HTC EVO 3D

I was surprised to find that all you need to do on a GB ROM is install the .apk to get it working. Here's a link to the Evo 4G forum post by jelive.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795233
Just d/l the .apk in the original post and run it from a file explorer like ES File Explorer. You have to enable unknown sources under settings-> applications.
***Do not use the .zip, use the .apk!
This app adds custom equalization, compression, bass boost etc. for bluetooth device, headset, or phone speaker profiles.
Thanks to jelive for the post in Evo 4G forums.

Cool, thanks. It was hard for me to use my 3D without it, I kept using my 4G for a while because my headphones sounded so much better with bass boost and eq. Even Ford Sync sounds better with it enabled on bluetooth.

I really needed the headset virtual room effect on mines but my headphones crapped out on me so i just ordered some htc headsets on amazon for $4. Our phones should be shipped with headsets for crying out loud.

Thanks for the Post OP
I have a stock EVO 3d with hboot 1.5
I have not decided to root the phone using the HTC method. Was looking for this program EVERYWHERE. And wasnt sure it would work since everyone said you had to grow a ROOT.
After reading your post I decided to give it a try and downloaded the "es file transfer" and unchecked the "UNKONWN" permissions and loaded it. It works!! after selecting custom and turning the eq up and selecting extreme. got to see if all day it sticks and sticks with a reboot. all I have tested so far is using the volume rocker and hearing a noticably difference in the "ding"

It is not doing anything for 1.49.0012.

HBOOT 1.49.0012, which is a HK GSM version. I don't know why, but DSP Manager is not doing anything for me. No effect is working. I had Desire, Incredible S before and DSP Manager works well for them, however, not on my EVO 3D GSM.

Way to answer the question....
I tried the qps way for myself and my wife with little to no improvement. So then I heard about an app Volume+ there is a free version and a paid version free one works just great but I paid to support the dev.
Volume+
I tried DSP too, but i use Volume+, works great. I wrote a review on my facebook page, link in my sig.
My first two evo 3d phones had very low max volume. When I got my third I was like, wow! I didn't even think there was a problem with the speaker. But after hearing the volume on my third one, the first two definitely had issues I wasn't aware of.

[Q] any decent video ringtone app?

hey guys.
back on my OG Evo 4G i was rocking a customized version of Vringo that I had whipped up. unfortunately it seems as if Vringo was pulled from the market and/or doesn't exist anymore.
I found a couple of apps, the best one so far is called Video Caller ID (free) and it seems to do what I want well. I have a very high bitrate .mp4 file and it looks amazing when I get a call. problem is the UI leaves much to be desired.
i've got the app on my desktop and will try to modify the layout and do some photoshop magic, but i'm wondering if there is already a decent (in features) and good-looking app that will do the same?
anyone else have a video ringtone app or like the idea of using one? let's talk about it.
thanks for any info you can share.
I too would like to know if anyone knows....

[Q] Ringer is still too low

Hey all,
Just recently acquired an evo3d from another member here on xda. The ringer and alarm levels are quite low for my tastes. I have gone through the whole QPST change for sound. Didn't notice much of a difference. Started using volume+ and set my speaker volume to 10. Still...better but no where near as loud as my 4G was. Anyone feel its safe to go louder? Should I go back to QPST and reset the sound settings to default before I take it too high?
Thanks in advance.

I actually found three to be grating to my ears. So two is my option, save for the earpiece which I set at one. I wonder if your settings are sticking. There are some settings that won't stick on the 3d, like the wimax settings inside epst(##3282#).
Also, try the tab for mms audio, I believe it's called.

This phone is pretty amazing

I was skeptical, and in fact wasn't going to upgrade. My Evo 4G started going flaky though so I decided to upgrade. My humble $0.02:
- ultralight and rigid. exudes quality construction
- phone has a nice feel to all the surfaces
- Beats Audio - I thought this was pure marketing nonsense, then tried with the same quality headphones on this and my old Evo and there's a clear difference. Same thing when I plug in from the headphone jack to my truck stereo. Very surprised.
- speed - can't bog this thing down with anything I've thrown at it
- Battery - still not perfect but I think it's a bit more efficient than my old Evo. At work where I get very little signal it still sucks the battery dry trying to reconnect voice all day. I may just put it in airplane mode when at work. Frigging army construction regulations.
Any dissenters? I'd recommend this phone more strongly than any other phone I've had at the time.
In this forum i dont think anyone will disagree, yes it is a great phone. Have some fun,go over to the s3 forums and brag it up
This phone is extremely solid compared to the Evo 3D, which I passionately hate and wish I had never owned. Unfortunately, a bad signal is always a deathtrap for a phone's battery, but it seems the rest of it is working out for you.

Do any other cell phone providers have good service at your work? I use an app called roam control. In my gym the free-weights are on a lower level with terrible signal. With the force roam on the app I'm able to get constant solid data, so I can listen to the tune in radio app. Just a thought.

If u search "roam control" on playstore there will be an app called "no roam control" or something like that. Anyways it is the first one on the list. It is by the same developer and there's a link to their website. U can buy a license and download it straight from there. Only thing that sucks is u will probably have to buy a new license for every new phone.

Equalizer apps
There are several equalizer apps that will boost the volume but the best one is call Equalizer by smart android apps. Buy the key and you can save presets for different apps like slacker radio for example or the stock music player. Works in conjunction with beats also. Just move the sliders up and enjoy more volume. Did I mention it works with bluetooth ! Also has themes available !
