I just flashed my xperia back to 2.1 using a Generic rom and then plugged my phone into my laptop. It then siad there was an update. The update was 2.1 with dual touch as it listed all this in PC Companion. I then updated to this so where's the gingerbread rom that everyone's talking about? I live in the south west of the UK.
My phone isn't rooted just if your wondering as I did the update in flashtool and also updated my phone in PC Companion.

I just saw in the SE blog tht the ppl are sayin they updated their X10 to Firmware 1.0.16??
I got 1.0.14 and my updateservice says my phone is up2d8?

Just connect the phone (X10) to your PC and it will pop up with different installations. Install the Sony Ericsson PC Companion and it will tell you that there’s an update ready.
Then follow the instructions. This is a firmware update!

Yes there is a 16 update around and no i can't update to it either...maybe it's generic vs carrier again - that's why we need root/custom roms!
I've got the .16 upgrade on my phone, I don't notice much of a change though.

even iam from india iam on .14 but whenever i check it states "firmware is upto-date".
Just upgraded mine from 14 to 16 last night by using Sony Ericsson Update Service. This is a baseband firmware update, so you won't be able to update via Android's update firmware feature.
Hello, in france, via SEUS the latest FW is still the 1.0.14. And I still have poping and cracking. Hope the 1.0.16 solve this issue.

boy does this phone need 2.1!!!!!!!!!! its a gonner without it i am afraid. functionality and stability from 2.1 firmware will bring out the beast in this phone. 1.6 right now is too limited for what this phone is capable off so SONY dont let us wait too long! i know min issue would be adding media and timescape to 2.1 but it needs to be done!

Looks like Vodafone are lagging with a firmware release.

Go to Sonys webbpage, dowload and install the software update service, follow the guide for X10 and install the latest update. It is easy to do and the last firmware is 1.0.16

Ive done all that, it says my phone has the latest firmware on it. Currently i have firmware 1.0.14
Is this another delay with Vodafone being slow to release software?
No this is Sony Ericson soft and has nothing to do with Vodaphone. I just ran the program my self and had no problem at all. Just try it again.

It has more than you think. If the phone is branded then Vodaphone has to approve the update before it can be delivered through SEUS.
This is the same issue i'm facing with 3 Denmark, the phone has ONE extra app(3MobileTV) BUT that means that 3DK has to approve ALL software updates from SE before it can be installed...
This is why we desperately need root/custom roms

i just got my x10 mini on three branded today first thing i did was debrand it to uk generic with the build.prop all worked well gonna try this update now hope its there now is this for uk generic?

I can confirm that my mate got the update for his generic X10 today. However as of yet nothing on my Mrs X10 mini pro.
on a facebook answer se confirms that today(in a few hours) tha mini update will be ready for download
I wasn't able to wait this long knowing that a flashable 2.1 version was available
Seem like it's just for the X10, but not the mini yet...

pity i left my USB cable at my girlfriends lol, when i check for update via wifi it says an update is available but needs to be done from a PC, it MUST be 2.1!

We have two debranded UK Orange x10 mini using the generic build.prop that's kicking about.
We're waiting - tried update on phone and PC companion.

How do you check what generic firmware you have and which one is the proper uk generic firmware?
I recently bought a used x10 from some guy on craigslist. factory reset it got it all working and what not and figured i would try and update it to 2.1. the phone says its updated even though when i go to phone info in the settings it says firmware 1.6. i tried the pc companion but it also says that it is up to date. any ideas with out rooting and running mods?
You've probably got a branded firmware that hasn't been updated yet...
Do a search for debranding and updating to the global generic firmware...

I see the X10 is getting an update to 2.3 my question is I have a custom rom for 2.1 and am wandering if pc companion will update it or if i will have to debrand and reflash to old stock att 1.6 to get the newest update
First, you will not get the update running AT&T branded firmware. You need to be running the 2.1 generic firmware that gets the update. There are different theories on what regions/kits will get the update first. Global Generic is my guess, but unknown13x says Europe first.
Basically, don't do anything till the update is released. It's all speculative at this point.
Btw, all the gingerbread info is in the "sticky" thread at the top of the general section. Look there for future info, as this thread may get closed by mods.
For those who are running AT&T branded 2.1 or 1.6 firmware, here is a step by step guide for unbranding to global generic 2.1.A.0.435, which will get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available......

Sorry to burst your bubble, but AT&T will NOT be updating the X10.
They are ONLY updating phones released in 2011 to Gingerbread.

wtf?? i diónt think thats truth ?!?! just download sony update software (pc companion i guess) for pc & update it to ICS. i dont think o2 is in the position to decide zhis. even theres no law for this. also googeling doesent show anything about this. i guess its some kind of rumor......
if that not works (it doesent showed me an update for the 1st time as i bought my arc new) you can flash ICS throug flashtool :
