guys i don't know why but i was forced to make this thread regarding the behavior of the ACE community as said by developers...
till now i have seen eight developers working on ACE and out of it five developers have told that we(ACE community) do not respond to their work in a good manner instead of asking them ETA or PM them..u may think that if i send a PM to the developer what difference will it make ...but if everyone starts thinking like that THE DEVELOPER will get around 100 PM asking for ETA..
and especially i have found that if any of the member writes something wrong in a thread all the OTHER ACE member writes it in the same manner as the host has written in the thread which makes it look bad when some outsider checks ACE threads....instead why dnt u PM him asking him not to repeat it again...if he is done that same mistake more than thrice report to the Moderator..
one more thing i have found is that if any developer makes a thread saying that he is gonna to release a ROM soon i have seen people starting to replying 'just cant wait for it' and all that......hers a small EX even before Ginger Rom could have released it had 30 pages already and i can assure you out of that at least 10 pages were like 'just cant wait for it' ...everyone have the writes to express their views but sometimes it becomes annoying.....
some people may find me rude and may blame me also ...but its the time we actually realize ur mistake
ITS high time that we understand the developer and respect them....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wouldn't want any 1 replying on this thread ...this is just an eye opener....
WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes it's definitely annoying. Everybody is waiting and posting that someone is too doesn't make sense, it's redundant and definitely spam.
XDA ♥
lol. saying "i just can't wait for it" means we're excited to download it. it doesn't imply any negativity. we are just expressing our excitement and gratitude that someone is working to improve our beloved smartphone. how could that be annoying? what do you want us to post? it's just a news for an upcoming release. do you want us to post our experience with it even though we haven't downloaded it? that's just being plain stupid.
Haha, you and I both know it's another way of phrasing "quicken up, we're all waiting". It's said in hopes an eta is given, not in sincerity of the gratitude they have for the developer. Why don't you ask developers if they like people to post "eagerly waiting" 10 times in a thread?

hell no. it's very much different. it would actually depend on how you view it. this is where cultural differences come in. a point if view of someone from this nation always differ from another. if you look at the history of the Philippines, we were very much influenced by the Americans which is why our point of view are nearly similar at theirs. we don't take the phrase "we just can't wait" literally unlike some people do. for us, it is an idiomatic expression.
and isn't it gratifying to know that people are waiting for your release?

Agreed on this as well, dont know about the cultural view of it(no opinion on that).
respecting the developer
you said don"t reply but i am replying taht we really respect the developers that what the are doing for sga is really awsome the custom roms everything and hope they continue doing and why they bothering about asses they are everywhere
I think people consistently sending pm to the developers is a more important issue than the "excited and waiting for it" thing.
How can people be so irresponsible.and go to the extent of pm and eta abuse

Maybe the OP and I read too much into it then..
Though I don't understand, if it was you, and someone posted in the thread that he's patiently waiting/eagerly waiting, what is your mentality when posting the same thing that you're waiting?
Because if it were me I wouldn't repeat it because I know everyone is waiting. Maybe it indeed is a cultural, or a personal thing.
But we must agree on the same thing. NO PM TO DEVELOPERS! Unless there's something to share or a question so complicated nobody in the general forums can help.
Peace guys. ^^

I agree!
Why do you think a Developer will post about something that they will do, basically something that does not exists yet?
Answer: "To let everyone know", to inform the SGA community.
With that i think a mature developer will understand the implications of announcing such things, it is natural (and i think expected) for everyone to be excited about it, giving encouragement as well, it is not important how many times people repeating the same post, but what it brings is that the developer will also gauge how many are interested for their (upcoming) development, and i see no wrong with that.
What i see wrong or actually impolite (not wrong) would be post asking for ETA, and PMs to the developer (asking for ETA). But then again as a developer announcing to the world of a planned ROM, i think would expect such thing (and would just simply ignore such query).
the originator of this thread has good intentions, however has missed some points in his observations.
guys i dnt wnt to extend this topic anymore, this topic was just get people attentions on their mistakes or so called by people 'expression'......
i jst wanted to help or inform the people as i have bought ideos x5 and have already sold MY ACE....i was scared to write it down before as i thought it would have hurt many ACE users but when these words were told by the developers i was very much sad...
hope u people get as many dev as possible..
For developers: don't post something if you have nothing.
One more thing, I don't get the point of quoting the first post.
I am an amateur developer, just 13 years old and deciding to cook a new ROM (fla.sh - undone yet). Then peoples won't stop asking me "hey, you are 13. Can you teach me how to create my own custom ROM?" either sent me a PM or asking at my G+ account. Yeah, I hope they read this thread. +1 for you.

Hello Ace community
I've been away from xda forums for quite a while, resting from this kind of activity. I was a really engaged developer in Windows Mobile devices. I came here now (as I'm an owner of ACE now), read two threads and...
Hey, did something changed in last year or two?... I mean, common. Two first threads I've read say "shh, don't disturb DEVS!". I really DO know how users can become irritating on forums, I was working on many ROMs for many devices. But what is happening here is... frightening I mean: hey, a whole community spirit is just... gone?!
I hope I can stay here for a while and work for this new community, too (most of you probably don't know me). But I really hope I got a wrong feeling and it's not like that here
cheers.
yes, we are ruff here

Hi guys
Just been browsing around today and saw that CheckRom has been moved from Original Development to the Android one. Then the thread is closed. Two questions.
Does anyone know whats going on please ie why it has closed and second does anyone know if its coming back?
I know they have their own site and stuff but i quite liked their releases and themes which i know you can still download but its nice to have that thread and read throughout..
Anyone with any knowledge would be gladly appreciated.
Last time i looked it said under investigation .

i know the more devs that create more roms for us the community, the better it is. yes its a good rom and i had it on mine and was looking forward to the update. But from someone i been speaking to and found out more if your not gonna give credit to the people who deserve it than of course he deserves to have his thread closed. And one thing i did not like was that he kept on pushing people to his site. Dont get me wrong im all for more news and stuff on devs website, but your releasing a rom to the community keep your stuff to that and if they want help then let the people go to the devs site themselves.
anyway thanks guys for your info anyhow how to close the thread now that you guys have answered my question.. thanks again

Just forget about it. You could PM a mod to ask them close it, but chances are it'll be off the 1st page and forgotten about by tomorrow anyway, unless people want to discuss it further in which case they need the open thread.
No explanation from an admin at all this is getting a bit ridiculous on XDA to be honest ive lost count of the amount of threads that have been "locked" and then most have been reopened, FFS this isn't an official state secrets website you would at least think someone would let people know what is going on.
If locked or something you can guess that something isn't quite right, gpl non compliance, not giving credit or knocking the whole rom off.

considering the ROM has been on here since last week why then has it taken the admins so long to "act" if something is wrong, and if you check the thread Gadget Check gives credit to many different people.
As i said getting beyond a joke at this stage, ill limit my posts on here if this ROM doesn't get "unlocked" it is by far and away the best ROM for the GS2 and ive tried many.

i don't think Gadget Check "forced" anyone to do anything he merely posted a link to his own website, again this is bordering on the ridiculous if XDA are banning developers from posting external links to their own website.
I think there is more to it than meets the eye, certain developers here have more clout than others ive seen that since ive been a member since March 2010 on various forums on XDA,perhaps they seen how quickly popular this ROM had become while their own ROM wasn't getting much attention and decided to try and do something about it, maybe, maybe not who knows but regardless if the thread was closed just because GC posted a link to his own website it truly is silly season.

+++++++++1 !!!!
Admins can remove the link from POST (and send to owner private MSG) - this is gonna be nice way! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT NO! THREAD closed !!!!
I NEVER SEE THIS BEFORE! REPORT THE ADMIN ABUSE
I've just checked the actual ROM thread and since it's been closed i cannot see anything written by any admin on it as to why it was closed, i know someone mentioned on this thread it was because GC posted links to his own website, big deal, what is the damn problem with that,it's not as people are going to abandon XDA and just post on the Gadget Check website instead.
This is bordering on the ridiculous at this stage on here and as previously stated i believe there to be a lot more to it, clarity from a senior administrator is required please
EDIT - Spoke to GC and he confirmed ROM will be back on XDA today for anyone else wondering.
I'm pretty sick of seeing people on here demanding that "admins do this" or "mods do that". Stop whining about things you don't know about and PM a mod with your concerns, not fill a development forum with crap.
Incidentally, see rule 11.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)

Great. Can this thread just disappear now please?
Incidentally, see rule 11:- "I live by my own rules, nobody else's, not even my own."
Oh dear me what have i started..
Look i found out the reason why the thread has been closed and that kinda answered the question to my thread. Now you guys are kinda going of the point of this thread.
Regarding about deleting or closing my one again im not to fussed. Someone said few posts back that it will get forgotten if no one replies and just go back to the bottom kinda thing. Bottom of the pile thats the word..I only asked so it clears up space in the forums thats all. But thanks to those who explained..Just thought there is no point keeping threads if the topic has been answered thats all.
Regarding CheckRom i really enjoyed his rom and was impressed by how helpful the guys from his team and himself was on there. As giving credits to people i am sure he did give credit were credit was due but again i always use to go to the last page so i cant remember. Mods and admins will do work and close threads as deemed necessary i dont think they would close a thread for the sake of it. One thing though that was not good about Checkrom is i have to disagree with Jonny he did kinda say to people if you want to view more regarding his rom go to the website and register..And in the start he did have everywere big donate signs all over the thread..But at the end of the day its his thread he can do what he wants but should keep it within the rules of xda i think..
Anyway all not is lost there are plenty more devs and more roms on the forums and im loving the VR. As much as i hate to say it with the tweaks he cooked up im really impressed..And guys dont argue whats the point...If one dev goes im sure there are more out there who will bring more goodies to us....I know one rom specifically that will be coming soon hopefully if all goes well and looking forward to seeing him release it...So if one goes im sure two will show up..thanks
Have a nice day

Take a chill pill as i already have stated that i found out the reason why they closed the thread of CheckRom and thanked people who gave me info. I did ask how to close my thread because i had my question answered so i did not see the point in keeping this thread. Now if people come on here and whine and moan its up to them to do what they want and freedom of speech...You are right about what your saying at the top and by all means if you know a way you can tell me to delete the thread since i had my questions answered please feel free to do so....
I appreciate the work that devs do for us the community and i only wished i had a quarter of the talent that these guys do cause i find it amazing in how they develop stuff as like yourself...
So if one dev gets kicked out goes or whatever im sure two more will bring something amazing to the table...
So thanks for your info and thanks for clarifying things to me on this thread but i think after i clearly thanked people and said my question has been answered i saw today it kinda blew up...Thats why im so suprised to read all that i am right now.
Anyway have a nice day
And the whole point of having a Q&A forum is for people to ask questions and for nice helpful people to answer with what they know as some have already done on here. If you dont know like reading crap on here why do you then..No one is forcing you..
Have a great day

My problem is with the people that give it "MOD TELL ME IMMEDIATELY WHY YOU DID SOMETHING I DON'T LIKE!". As far as I'm concerned, every single member with that attitude should buy an iPhone and leave.
Anyway, it was aimed at the troll above who failed to call me a troll when he badly linked an image search URL as an image. Even the image search URL was wrong. He takes trolling to a new low

Nobody on reddit really hates XDA, they just think it's very unorganized. What they don't understand, though, is that a lot of ROMs are personal projects which is why they are unorganized.
But people here seem to be pretty angry a lot. You can't even ask a question in a lot of ROM threads without getting flamed and told to use the search, even if nobody ever mentioned it before.

Correct. In a general sense, this site sux, due to some people. If someone asks a question...people should give them the CORRECT answer, or keep their damn mouths shut...there is NO feasible reason to flame someone or troll...it's just juvenile, and ignorant.

I agree, if i have any complaint about this site. It's the smug and condescending pricks.
I myself like to see threads asking for help even if it's been done to death.
Plus i like to see people ***** and complain about bandwidth, like they're the ones paying the light Bill.
Oh yeah and next time do a search to see if someone already made a thread about Reddit complaining about xda. lol

Define correct answer. When someone ask question, that was asked two pages earlier and already answered one page earlier, he's an idiot. Of course, you can disagree with me. But that's pretty much all you can do. Because it's spamming. Because of witch many great devs left this place.

Some people don't have the time to flip through countless pages of drivel to find the answer to their problem, or to find an update post from a dev for that matter. And you can say use the search all you want, but over the years I have found that most search functions on forums are too finicky and take multiple attempts to get to what you want. Now if it is a question along the lines of: 4g working? camera? 3d? etc., then yes of course they're an idiot because 9 times out of 10 that is in the first or second post on the thread.
When I first started lurking here, I was under the impression this was a community, but have since learned there are quite a few elitist jackasses on here that seem to think if someone doesn't know how something works or where to find something, then they should go jump off a mountain into a sea of fire. There are people that are genuinely scared to post on this forum because they are so worried about being crucified for asking a question. It is not the noobs asking questions that is driving away the devs, it is the general attitude from members that pushes them out.
Oh really? Prove it. I can prove at last one kernel dev, that left this place because of constant same questions from n00bs. This ain't ****, man, it's real. Your definition of spam is quite misconstrued. I don't see how asking for help is spam. The problem is people babbling on about random nothings in the dev section, not asking questions pertaining to the thread's topic. Say what you want about the internet making people lazy inbreeds, as it is irrelevant. People will always have questions and if you don't like it, then let the "suckers" answer them. You didn't teach yourself Calculus or C++ did you?
And time is a perfectly valid excuse in regards to keeping up with a threads status. There are noobs, flashaholics, and semi flash-savvy people that have full time jobs, a family, and other endeavors, these people don't have time to be checking up on their current ROM/Kernel's threads every hour of every day, god forbid they are following multiple threads. You don't check some threads for a day and bam another 30 pages of meaningless drivel to sift through yay! To be fair to your argument, yes a few of those pages are probably people asking questions, but the rest are nonsense about how awesome the new update is or how amazing their benches/battery-life are.
My point in all of this being; you are targeting the wrong demographic, it is not the noobs causing the issues by asking questions.

You're right. Idiots are making those issues as not every nab is an idiot.
Example: How to flash the recovery, I'm doing it via fastboot so it's not fakeflash but it won't stick seems like a legitimate question to me. Resolution could probably be googled, but is not idiotic like:
What is the best rom, what is the best launcher, what is the best launcher for ics, what is the best kernal etc etc.
Those are all idiots. The thing is, whatever people use at the time of posting is the best/fastest/smoothest/battery efficient etc. But to comprehend that you need at least basic ability of rational thinking. A thing one who opens those threads right under the others with same title surely doesn't have.
This thread is in the wrong section...It belongs on the "rants and raves" section. Mods please move this

As most of you have noticed more and more new users are appearing on XDA thanks to the existence of the LG Optimus one.
The lg optimus one is a very popular device and because of that a lot of users that never owned a smartphone come in here, that is a great thing but wen most of those users can barely read the English language and have no respect for existing users and the forum itself and they only want a quick fix for their problem, that is when popularity becomes a problem.
In the last few weeks an annoying amount of useless threads have been wrongly created in the General and Development section by new users desperate for immediate attention, instead of posting in the specific Rom or Kernel threads where most of them must know their questions belong.
I say "must know" because you don't just go from not having a problem in flashing a rom and having a problem and have no idea what might be the cause of your problem. please stop playing stupid, you must know how to browse the web and read instructions, otherwise you wouldn't get here and be able to create threads.
And here is an observation to all of you who sell your "soul" for Thanks:
Stop overlooking the continuous breaking of rules just hoping to get a "Thanks" from the user posting in wrong section, double posting, useless posting...etc
Is a lot easier to click on one of this threads then to start a new one!

Kssood and some more users do it.
Maybe we should make ONE thread were everyones MOD can be posted.
This can not go on.
Greets!
Will do, thank you.

Thanks, good thing too because i can't swim,
maybe it was my subcontinent feeling like drowning in spam
and smartass RO users like you, Nazis were proud of the-yr nationality too.
up.... keep voting.
I know i sayd all there is to say about the situation in the first post,
but please post here to keep the tread on first page where it can be seen and other users can vote too, thanks.
I almost agreed with this thread, due in part to the "thanks" issue. I agree with the continued soliciting for thanks or stupid posts like "This will be reported!!". Then I noticed the "spam" bit again, now the following is the definition of spam:
Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.
No I have not seen this happen on this forum, what I have seen is a load of showboating and harassing of users purely for the sake of doing so, or getting the post count up. I am a developer, not recognized by XDA, purely because I do not have the time to develop for fun right now. I used to build roms for windows mobile, I also brought out a very decent FB Application for windows mobile (until a cease and desist order from FB). My point is this, yes, there are very talented individuals here, but why want to ban/threaten/shoot everything in sight just because they aren't up to the standards of the top guys?
I have been a member of this community for a long time, I have seen it grow over the years. It is built on a passion for these mobile devices we own, which some of us have spent hard earned money for. Running rampant, being more "strict" doesn't quite solve the problem.
Senior members, help the new members. New members, ask for help in the right place like pointed out in the 1st post. The development section should contain our roms, whether fully "developed" or just mods, thats where I expect to see roms, thats how it was always done before android even existed on these forums. General, should be just that, general help/info on the devices, upcoming technologies etc which would apply to our devices.
To build a community, lets ACT like a community and keep our personal squabbles in private. Android is about choice, XDA is about passion, a community is about friendship. In the optimus one forum, we should go back to our roots.
@cornelha where did you read i was talking about spam ?

It was jut a lame excuse for my spell error. You guys are so jumpy to criticize everything and underline other people mistakes just so you can feel better whit your own wacky ego.

Sorry, my english is not that good, what do you mean?

Can this way of cleaning be applied on the Dev forum also?
Look at the SPRING ROM!!!!!!
ANyways, I don't think this will be the way.
For now, my tactic is don't post in ANY thread that I don't like.
DOn't even say you don't like it, it will only bump the thread.

Just ignoring useless threads won't make them go away or stop the creation of more, i do the same thing but those guys begging for thanks won't...
Lets say that some new user or even you are searching for an answer, think of it like searching Google and getting 100.000.000 result, that makes it pretty difficult to find what your answer wen 99.9% of those search results are porn and you are looking for a picture of a tree ...
Edit: i realize now that creating this tread won't solve anything but...
Imagine one year from now how many treads this forum will have, can you ?
And then imagine you searching for an answer in all those threads, it will be relay difficult so you will start a new thread asking for an answer that already exists and maybe then this phone wont be so popular and you won't get an immediate response like now...
I say all this because it happened to me on an old device that was not half as popular as the o1 is.
Up...
And the stupid questions keep on poring.
Thank you for the concern.

This is just a curious question, i remember back in the days of the iphone 3G i used to have before android took over, i remember that when "jail breaking" the iphone, if it became bricked or screwed up, all you had to do was plug it in the computer and reformat and re install the factory OS.. Does the Amaze have such a fix???
The only absolute way to make you sure you don't mess anything up is to read as much as possible and do your homework. But everyone around is is pretty nice and any problem you run into has probably been asked and solved somewhere in the forum.

Nothing wrong with glacier guy, op is the one that started with the insults the op should search instead of wanting answers spoon fed that's the problem with people now they won't learn to be self sufficient and learn. Learning is valueable, what a waste of a brain it is to not learn to research and do things on your own.

I see. So if someone doesn't follow the search first rule then it's ok for seasoned members to ignore rule 2.5. I'll keep that in mind.

there are different ways you can brick this phone. there are soft-bricks and hard-bricks. soft-bricks can be "fixed" by doing simple adb commands and reflashing different things.
hard-bricks, on the other hand, are far more serious. some time ago, people who didn't read the instructions, bricked their phones by going back to s-on. there hasn't been a way to fix that, until this thread came along: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627882
there are still more ways to hard-brick it that are currently non-recoverable, i.e. formatting your emmc (internal sd card). hope this helps a little.

To the people that actually responded, thank you for the info. Although android is far superior (IMHO) to iPhone, I wish they would make it easier to just reformat the internal memory and reinstall the factory OS like you can with the iPhone. It would be a cool thing to have.. Just in case. Sorry for all the BS this thread started, I just love my phone and I want to learn as much as I can about it, I like conversing with people in threads and every other forum is full of friendly and informative people, and a lot of people here are, but some are just rude and try to act like they are so much smarter than you just because they have more experience than you. That is just ignorant, I am an electronic engineer, and I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree with a 4.0 GPA, so believe me glacierguy, I am much smarter than you. I design boards like the ones in our phones, I know stuff about electronics that would make your mind explode. Just because I am new to rooting and don’t know as much as you do, doesn’t give you the right to act superior and disrespectful towards me. Just do what you are supposed to in a forum and help and advise. treat others as you would like to be treated, always remember that. I would never tell someone that there questions are dumb, I always try to help others.
We have a Q&A section for threads like this.
Please keep all question based threads in the Q&A section. Thank you.

Can we please respect the Chad's requests to keep the dev only discussion to dev. I already reported the posts that were in violation, please do the same if you find any more. Lets keep the development rolling. We almost lost all of our devs at a point, now we are taking off again lets not piss them off.
Please respect developers' wishes !!!
P.s. I made a new thread because i didn't want to say anything on Chad's thread, that would be hypocritical.
ugh
Bump !
Selfish people will be selfish. I don't say that to demean your post, I actually appreciate what you're trying to do a lot... but in the end, the people who will respect this wish are the people who are already respecting it
You bumped this?
If no one responds then maybe other people don't feel the same way.
Chad was even replying to those other people. So he isn't too worried about it.
No disrespect, but maybe this wasn't needed......

Do me a favor, you and others, if you see something like that, just hit the report button. YZ is a phenomenal moderator, he rarely took more than a day to respond.
We can help the mods keep it clean so that devs would want to work in a clean environment.

Last time i checked, Neo had 15 roms or something. Maybe his title doesn't say recognized dev, but he is to this community. He is the one chad responded to.
The reason why you dont see the other posts is that they are getting deleted ( thanks to YZ).

I really don't think a thread like this one where one user is chastising other users is really good for the community too. The devs are big boys and girls and the mods are doing a dang good job IMO, threads like this one will only divide and inflame the community.
I happen to think that this community has finally gotten to the point where it is like the other communities around here. Threads like this only make them an issue.

Ditto; you're alright a.mcdear, and anybody else who contributes regardless of titles. jmichaels1982's wording was a bit off on that quote is all.
It would be nice for users to keep things tidy around here a bit more, the Q&A section is occasionally deprived of both questions and readers willing to provide answers for troubleshooting. it is easy to overlook meaningful and relevant developmental posts when a dev thread is filled with more basic questions. Those are acceptable typically, but they may and can get wrapped up with any outright off-topic remarks.
The report button and self-moderation amongst the more talkative members should go far to alleviating off-topic posts.
And ah, frankly, not sure if the very sort of people that would need to read this thread are actually going to read it with the title being "I am seriously not happy." Too vague, doesn't grab attention. If stickies on forum rules don't grab their attention, this won't either lol.
All I know is I'm extremely impressed with Chad and his accomplishments (along with other devs)

I miss my old inc. That was a great little phone. I still have 2 of them i use for mp3 players.
This thread shouldn't exist and neither should the posts in the dev thread whining about keeping things on topic. Keeping on topic is taken care of by moderators, all people should be doing is hitting the report button if someone doesn't have the common sense to stay on topic themselves.
Side note: Let's be real here. People that actually have the skills and/or willingness to work on this phone stuck around regardless of trolls and whatever other BS excuse previous devs wanted to feed you.
There is no need to start threads like this, obviously in a way it could be of any help but in another it could be cause of problem, that's why i'm closing it.
Anyway, as said, click the report button and we will look into it asap.
