1. What would you recommend as a good client for the PC for transfering files via Bluetooth? i mean somthing better then the built in Win 7 client.
2. Recently i discoverd QuickPic which is absolutly much better then stock Gallery in terms of customization. but the weird thing is that everybody claims it loads pics much faster then the Gallery while every time i load it, it takes a second the get the sharpness right, even though this is the 20 time i load the same pic. im talking about a "second" that you will notice! i tried everything to fix this including uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing cache, moving the files from the external SD to the internal, formating and changing rom's and its still the same though no one else ever mentioned that problem..is it just with me? i wouldnt want to give up QuickPic so fast..also, any other gallery i tried does not have that delay effect for fixing the sharpness. please advice what could be the problem.
Im on litening ROM v4.2 if thats matter.
Thanks!!
Any help?
No help? ):

Hi. In respect of point 2 I also use QuickPic and have the same 1sec sharpness adjustment. Not sure if its an actual bug though.

I have become really frustrated with the 3d gallery app. It takes forever to load my pics. When I first had the phone it was fine, but ever since the 1st update (JI6) it has been slow. I am now running Nero V3 with voodoo, and it is still slow as ever. It seems ridiculous, this phone is really fast especially with this rom. Is there a way to make it run faster, or a better gallery app. I sometimes use justpictures, but don't like the interface as much as the 3d gallery.

installing a lagfix may do the trick
^ he said he has voodoo
Why not try another app, not the gallery:

On first opening, you have to let it build the cache thumbnails, after this it will be a little faster ..... Most don't do this, and especially if you have a lot of pics, it will load slow, and try to build the cache every time they open it .... So just open it and let it for its thing ... Also you can browse to to your sd cards, to the DCMI folders, and delete the thumbnails folder , then open the gallery app and let it rebuild .....
Try the hacked gallery from SGS Tools.

I just tried this, and after the phone is off for awhile it goes back to having to load all of the thumbs again....takes forever. It's as if it's creating new thumbnails every time I open the gallery.

SGS Tools can be found in the market. Just click "Upgrade Stock Apps" and then pick the "Modded 3D Gallery".
Hope this fixes your problem.

I have sgs tools, but maybe it's un old version, it doesn't have an upgrade apps option. When I go to the market I only find sgs toolbox and sgs unlock. Neither of those have that option either. Is there another way to get sgs tools, or does it not work with jl5 maybe?
I dont think thats it, Im on Nero v3 right now which uses JL5 as a base. Try clearing your market data and force stopping it through Settings>Manage Applications.
In any case, heres an apk of SGS Tools (which should be the most recent version).
cool, thanks for the file i'm trying it out now, I appreciate all the help
Hey that's what XDA is here for.
Let us know if it works.
so far so good, the modded gallery ls nice and fast. My only teensy weensy complaint is that when you open a pic from the album it takes a little longer to load and is pixelated during the process, but it's MUCH better than it was.
Thanks again
I recently upgraded to GSB v2.1 from my previously non-rooted bog standard Eris and am amazed by what I had been missing out for. I'm still pretty much a complete newbie to the whole custom ROM thing though, and have a few questions that may be quite stupid.
1) I'm getting force close crashes w/ the Facebook app. It'll load for a second and I'll see my news page, then force close comes up. Do I just need to reinstall or ... ? Edit: Facebook seems to be loading now, without force close issues. The problem was very repeatable (every time I tried to open the app!) last night, but seems gone today. Ah well, good riddance!
2) While trying to play a vid from Youtube, the sound is working flawlessly but the video doesn't seem to be advancing. I can move forward manually but all I get are still pictures from the video. This is using the browser that came with GSB; I haven't yet tried to get any other apps.
3) My wife's phone seriously needs this too, but she's leery of wiping her phone of apps. What's the best way to backup apps from a non-rooted Eris?
Thanks in advance for any answers you guys can provide!
Download titanium backup for the apps I'm new at this too I'm unsure about your problems with Facebook and YouTube did you wipe the dalvik cache?
Sent from my Ginger Tazz using Tapatalk
I did wipe the cache, although like I said, I haven't put any apps on here yet, so no harm in just wiping it all again and reflashing the rom to make sure it works. Thanks for the titanium backup tip!
No problem gsb is a great rom these Eris devs do awesome work I use gsb 2.0 no problems I'm trying Ginger tazz now I think battery life may be a little better but both are excellent. You should totally hook your wife's phone up too

I think the Youtube thing is a known issue, and I'm guessing that it's just because Cyanogen Mod 7 isn't completely done yet, so maybe it'll be worked out over time.

Just to let you know, you can wipe the Dalvik cache any time you want to, even after loading apps. It'll just longer to rebuild it when you reboot, but it can help solve issues sometimes.
Welcome to rooting!
That's great to hear! Well, it's not great that youtube doesn't work 100%, but at least it's not some weird problem particular to me. Lol.
I have to say, I really really have grown to like this ROM very fast. My wife is clamoring for it even knowing she's gonna lose all her apps. Any tips on how I set my contacts to import Facebook profile pics now? I did it before, but have no clue where that was or where it may have moved to now.

best option i found for backing up my wife's apps before flashing from stock was to use "universal androot" to root (it is a software root so there is no rebooting or flashing or really any risk of loosing aps). then you can install titanium backup. it will even backup protected files since you have root. when titanium backup loads, hit menu->batch and pick the backup all new apps and newer versions. after flashing, load titanium backup, menu-> batch and pick restore all missing apps (i restored them with data, but many people have had to install the app only and then put back in the other info). FYI i rooted several (5) phones this way. if you install rom manager from the market and install a recovery (clockwork or amon's) from the rom manager, you can turn phone off, then hold vol down and power on to boot to recovery. from there you can wipe and flash. it is the easiest way to root and flash a new rom imho.
sorry figured i should answer your post i quoted. lol. if under menu-> accounts and sync->add account->facebook. input your info and select sync all or sync current contacts. it should pull in the information. if you have different names for people in your contacts and your facebook (ex "wife" in your contacts and "jane" on facebook) you can "sync all contacts" and manually link them. contacts->long press on contact->edit contact->menu->join. this should link you contacts with their facebook info. the facebook pics will sync it just takes a good bit of time sometimes.
hi there.
the devs' of one game (EA's monopoly) were so brilliant to forget to hide their game's pictures and other media from android gallery.
I have added the file .nomedia in all folders that contain the game media, cleared gallery data and rebooted, but the pictures still show up in gallery.
what am i doing wrong?
Would've thought the file would do the trick. Strongly suggest QuickPic. MUCH faster, lighter and has more options. The gallery is a cpu hog.

yeah that's what i thought.
used quickpic on my other phone, liked it. generally want to go stock as much as possible though... weird that it doesnt work the way it should
so there is no known solution for the monopoly issue? its too bad, i really like the game but its messing up my gallery so much

Unfortunately I couldn't find any
I put .nomedia file in every possible sub-folder and rebooted, but the media still showed up. Kind of weird, because ".nomedia" should and has worked in the past... so kind of a combination of EA making this blunder in their game design, and something wacky about the GT ROM not properly rescanning media files...
I ended up deleting the files and uninstalling the game, periodically checking the market whether EA has updated the game... I also sent them a bug report to their support Email in their website (although for support they do not have Android as a platform listed... go figure...) -haven't received an answer yet
^ certainly understand your thoughts... just curious though... the stock gallery is a cpu hog. why not just freeze it and use quickpic? You know from using it you could easily hide/exclude the galleries you did not want scanned/shown and the Tab has proven to run much better for me without the stock Gallery.
I know you mentioned staying stock as much as possible.... just felt I'd beat the drum a little more for those who read this later.

no prob.
i used quickpic on my old Galaxy Tab (and my wife still does).
Gallery in Honeycomb just has a pretty good integration with Google+ and Picasa.
quickpic is a good app, can recommend it definitely.
right now i however just wish that EA would take android programming more serious... it tells me a lot that their user support pages don't even list Android as a platform... they haven't really arrived here yet...
I also have this problem, tried everything and my gallery is still full of monopoly trash . Sad cause I liked the game.
Have you cleared app data for media storage in settings/apps?
not entirely related to your issue, but an interesting side note.... When i plug in my nikon sd card via the usb adapter gallery refuses to show the contents, but quickpic works fine
Never had this with my other droid devices, so defo something odd on the tab re gallery/media scan

Hello all,
My girlfriend is having issues with her Galaxy Ace regarding Facebook uploading and Sharing. whenever she tries to share anything to facebook, it stays on 0% for around 10 minutes and gives error that it can't be uploaded, the same goes for any app that tries to upload to facebook. I have installed various roms and kernels and the problem still exists. Her account is working as I tried it on my phone and it uploads without any problems so it's not facebook that's causing it. Also I have logged into my account on her Ace and it still has the same error though so i'm quite confused
I have installed and removed various apps and it all gives pretty much the same upload problem, wonder if anyone had the same problem before and can help me with this?
her current rom is Xperiatized V7 and her kernel is [CF-Root-S5830 3.7] B84
many thanks in advanced
Mostly an app problem

Well not sure, but the previous kernel installed with Xperiatized given the same problem? was experimenting to see if it was the kernel that was giving the problem with uploading but the problem still exists lol any help on choosing the best rom or kernel even to fix this weird problem?
This is not an kernel or rom problem. Mostly seems an app or data packet size problem.

really? is there a way to solve it as I don't seem to see anyone with the same issue as my girlfriend? it's a combiniation of apps like the official facebook for android, friendcaster, Instagram is experiencing this and it's been a full wipe and clear before Rom updates even when removing the app to redownload, clear cache, clear data and uninstall before reinstalling a fresh download from Play Store/Market and still the same thing, thanks for you help in this as i've been losing my whits trying to figure this out lol
also, this has been only tested uploading over wifi at the moment as 3g has been giving the same problems as this at the moment
Anyone can help me with this weird problem? i've checked everything on the phone, factory resets everything and still gives that error =[
-Try on wifi, use another ace as wifi router.
-try on different telco ?
-Do you use firewall app like droidwall ?
-maybe tweak script installed, remove it bcause some of them alter tcp/ip parameter.
-Try upload using, whatever browser on your phones. If succes then app problem, if same then rom problem.
-reflash stock rom, if your problem still there, then its time to reconsider to sent to samsung service or buy the new ones whatever brands.
Hi,
I've tried on my wifi router and few others, on my HTC incredible, I can upload no problem using my wifi connection but on my girlfriend's Ace, it either sits at 0% or jumps to 20% and doesn't move till it times out, these are small images only like 450k that i've tried uploading even tried bigger and still the same thing, tried to upload using the the default browser but facebook times out or redirects me to the android app page on google play.
there's no firewall, antivirus or anything like that on it and I haven't installed any tweak apps nor alter any settings other than ringtones and accounts and that's it really
i'm going to flash another rom at the moment to see if it improves the problem or remains the same, a stock rom you say? which one shall I use or where to get it?
many thanks for your help diditdr! =D
update. flash back to a stock ROM and it's working well but the upload problem exists by the gallery share, facebook app and even through the internet browser as well, it's like the phone is unable to upload anything at all? maybe blocked by facebook? not sure! wonder if anyone has input on this at all?
I have the same issue with facebook photos uploading. using Cm fat
you have the same problem as me wiceqq, you can't upload to facebook at all and in your notification area the facebook bit is in bold font and doesn't shift? no matter what app you use to upload it's the same thing?
wonder if anyone there can help us with this problem? it's not very common as I can't find anything about it on the web, anyone an help us?
I do have the same problem... Im just getting that error on 1.8.x version, it works fine on 1.7.x.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488937
really? can't upload through the internet browser either as it times out? would the app be causing that too by any chance?
Bump, does anyone know how to fix this problem at all? I've installed an older facebook app to see if that was the problem but it wasn't. It's still doing the same thing as I've described above in my earlier posts. can anyone help?
I have a Galaxy S II, running CM10 Nightly 19Sep Stock kernel, only thing changed is the ROM which I've been flashing for over a year without issue.
Noticed on Monday 22Oct that the phone was starting to lag at certain things and behave screwy, so downloaded latest nightly and did a complete backup. Did not flash.
Had a look in the gallery yesterday, and to my horror the earliest photo in there is from 21Oct, over 600 photos gone. Gallery used to show thumbs from all of the ebooks I have in there, those are gone as well and the photos from the individual ebook folders for covers are gone one by one.
Swiftkey deselected itself as an input option with no input from me. Swype is just gone.
External SD which I barely use will show as unmounted when connected via USB.
Going to go through forum tutorials to try and get those pictures back, but should I be worried about something else? Hardware? What could possibly be causing this?
Well at the very least this product deserves a thumbs up. It works.
http://www.remosoftware.com/
Going to get most of the media back.
It's suggest a restocking.
You can take your sd out and check if not corrupted our something.
Hope you can still get your files.
You will get more support form the forum if you post in the one specific for your device
