So I am new to the Fascinate portion of XDA and I was inquiring if there are any ROMs available for the ED05 version. I am a fan of the MIUIWiz rom but I'm honestly a flashaholic. Going from HTC to Samsung is like speaking another language. Time for a drink! Thanks in advance.

So far, the newest ROMs available are based on ED01. Some people want a ROM based on ED05, but since CM7/MIUI/AOSP became fully functional on the Fascinate, development on the TouchWiz Froyo ROMs has stopped. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems everyone wants to get rid of Samsung's coding and software and just move to AOSP asap. Maybe someone will get bored one day and make a ROM out of the ED05 base, who knows?
If you're a fan of MIUIWiz, you might want to check out the full version of MIUI for the Fascinate over here.

And welcome to the Fascinate Section of XDA!
I really wish someone would develop a Touchwiz rom i've been on Evil Fascinate since 3.5. I hate how bloated cm7 is, and MIUI is too iphonish not to mention the loss of the touch wiz camera. I would go back to MIUI if I could get the touchwiz cam, and I also like the TW4 launcher, but the SGSII will be out soon so I'll just be patient.

CM7 is bloated? In what way? I only ask because I've been on it since jt's 7/17 release and haven't found any bloatware...
That said, the most consistently positive experience I've had on this phone is still UKB 2.1 (a Froyo Touchwiz based rom). The devs basically took Samsung's shoddy "work" and overhauled it, resulting in what many still consider to be the best Fascinate Rom overall. It is also (to the best of my knowledge) the most recent and complete Touchwiz rom.

Yes, I hope new TouchWiz Based Rom ( ED05 base on,look like Evil Fascination or CR2.1 ^_^ ) because not at all people in there want to flash AOSP ROM like CM7 or MIUI, they miss, and need TouchWiz Based ROM ( me too ^_^ ).
I think that Touchwiz ROM is really stable and smooth ( don't try to compare with AOSP ROM ), and I'm very happy if someone made another Touchwiz based ROM
It should also be noted that the only GB source our devs have access to is EC09, which is fundamentally borked (eats SD cards, for example). Until a stable GB source is released / leaked (looks unlikely), the majority of existing Fascinate Touchwiz Roms probably won't see an official stable build past ED01 Froyo; stuck with a startlingly buggy Gingerbread source, it's very difficult for developers to justify dedicating their efforts to an apparent dead end.

If no one is willing to make an ED05 rom, I might be up for it. I'm messing around with de-odexing the ED05 base, but my experience is limited. If I do make one, it might be a simple debloated ROM without any framework mods. Also, the only ED05 kernel is stock right now, so no Voodoo sound or color.

That pretty much explains it all. Dev's hated working on the outdated Froyo base, and the GB leak was very buggy, so it wasn't worth it.

I've been browsing through the Roms forum looking for a stock, fully functional 2.1 (non-Sense) rom that includes Superuser. The best I've found is ErisLightningBolt, but that is based off of Cyanogen. I also saw Senseless, but that seems to have never been updated from the initial version and still has bugs. Anyone know of a good Vanilla rom?
try search.
EDIT: I just did a search of vanilla on the DEV thread and had 68 items found.
Didn't I post here already? Must have lagged or something.
Jrozga, those vanilla things aren't relevant to what he's looking for. There are very few vanilla 2.1 ROMs and most of them are lacking. I prefer vanilla but it's difficult to get 2.1 roms that way. If you're looking for a true vanilla fully functional rom I suggest Froyo CM6 or KF or CELB 6, all vanilla.

Either way he's asking others to do the work for him without searching. Looking over 68 threads with vanilla in the title would provide him with all the roms he is looking for. And froyo is 2.2 aosp my friend.

Of course it is. I'm just saying if you're looking for aosp the best we can offer is a 2.2 ROM. The 2.1 ROMs are just not up to par. Granted it's very difficult to make vanilla ROMs. I took evil eris and made it semi-vanilla when I used it but still, my point remains valid: 2.2 roms are the best aosp we have.

Aren't these ROM suggestions bases off Cyanogen?
Kaos Froyo isn't I don't believe. It may have changed. The other two are though. Why don't you want cyanogen based? IT's still vanilla.
Tainted Vanilla.. you cant go wrong with that.. Hoban knows how to make a rom.. and he made that 1 PERFECT!
White widow is pretty good. Fast and stable

I don't mean to be a pain, but I have searched. I had only found a few Vanilla 2.1 roms, but most of them had bugs or still missing features. I mainly wanted a stock rom to maximize battery life. Right now I am using KaosFroyo and yes it is fast but my battery life is much worse then it was on the stock Sense rom. Either way thank you guys for the help.
Sense uses more ROM, Froyo is really supposed to use much less bttery... try another froyo ROM. My suggestion is the one in my sig.
Otherwise try Plain Jane or CTRom. Those are good stock 2.1's.
hi could someone please tell me which sense rom to use on my hero as there is just so much to choose from im sure all are good but I would like the best out of the available ones please thanks , im currently using elinux froyo 2.2.1
Well, first of all this should be posted in the Q&A section, but VillainROM 12 is prob your best bet for all round stability and performance. It's based on 2.1 though so bare that in mind as you are coming from a Froyo 2.2 build.
It's been a while since I used a Sense ROM (got addicted to 2.2 stock) but the best was VillainRom12 or MoDaCo. There are ports of Sense for 2.2 around, but as far as I know they all have hardware issues (such as camera or wi-fi not working).

Sorry I've been gone for a while, and my old thunderbolt is still running a Senseless version of Gingertheory (gingerbread) Rom, I would like to upgrade to a newer gingerbread rom now...what is the ASOP stuff? please enlighten me on which Rom I should run...I've got a replacement phone from Verizon, my text messages were all screwed up and not coming in properly. Anyways. I guess I should download clockwork mod on my new phone.
I don't need bloatware, just basics and a fast phone with good battery life.

The best GB Rom is whichever one you like.
for sense it would be a theory rom. for aosp either liquid or theory.
I am currently running gingeritis3D and i love it. I have not ran any other GB roms but i dont feel the need to. This rom is kicka$$ and so smooth. Got all the sense 3.0 goodies and the only bug that i know of an issue with voicemail which i fixed by just using google voice. I really highly recommend it
I was also told that the latest version (VIII) i based of the latest GB leak so its very stable
So what is ASOP? Can someone explain to me? Is it Senseless??

"Sense ROMs: Sense ROMs are built from RUUs, either officially released or leaked. An RUU is the complete update file for a handset; including the bootloader, radio, and ROM. Currently, all Gingerbread Sense ROMs are based on leaked RUUs. Each RUU has a version number, for example 2.10.605.0. The higher the number, the newer it is. Newer is generally better. Devs will usually include the base RUU version number in their OP. I like to think of custom ROMs developed on a common base as a family of sorts. They're going to generally have some similarities. They can have major differences as well. Some things about them won't ever change though.
Sense ROMs come in many flavors; 2.1, 2.1/3.0 hybrid, 3.0. It's really hard to tell what you like until you play with some and get to know them.
AOPS ROMs: AOSP ROMs are not built from leaked or released RUUs. They are built upon code obtained through the Android Open Source Project and are custom built for the devices. HTC, and manufactures in general, don't support AOSP being developed for their device. As a result, AOSP devs basically have to figure it out for themselves which makes the ROMs much more experimental. These ROMs typically come out in 1 or more versions, usually identified by date of release if it's a final release version, or an RC (release candidate) version if it's still in beta testing. Think of the version number and RC/beta number like the RUU number of a Sense ROM. For instance, CM7.0.3 may have several release versions that are only very slightly different. Then you may have several CM7.1.0 Beta or RC candidates that may less stable, but being offered for real world use and user feed back. That's basically the picture for the dInc currently, not the Tbolt, so don't quote me. CM releases are generally going to all look and feel the same and carry the same group of features. OMFGB is going to be making a name for itself with different features and characteristics. You won't know which you like until you try them."

I have tried most sense based ROMs, I keep going back to Gingeritis 3D. BAMF is a close second, all other ROMs I have tried I get FC issues, and other wierd **** where I will just flash back to 3D. Keep in mind, each phone is different, so results will vary. Try them all out, nandroid is your friend!
I was just wondering, why are there so many stock ROMS in the development section. Dont people here like cyanogenmod roms and miui roms? i am thinking of getting this phone in 2 days
personally, i like what samsung provides as default. to me, some of the custom rom's themes just hurt my eyes ;-)
Cyanogen is still in beta for the GSII, not sure about Miui but I don't think thats ready yet either. Some people say they run Cyanogen and are happy with it but for myself and probably most here, I want a completely stable release and I don't want to be flashing nightlies.

Both cyan and miui roms missing samsung media codec playback , only very crappy google basic remains.
Roms its users choice ,its also developers choice .

I can't stand miui roms and imo cm7 is not as good as (modified) stock
Sent from my Transformer TF101G using xda premium
I think its because stock isn't that modular in terms of customizations (they need to change framework apks in /system). Also, you change a kernel a custom rom pops up. Add some icons another one gets added. Change theme colors, yet another one. Its a function of the possible number of combinations.
With cm its mostly barebones. One official kernel also. And theme chooser. Instead of actually downloading a whole ROM with a few tweaks to colors and icons, you just download a theme (which installs as an app and you can change without flashing).
Lastly, stock integrates so much better with the hardware and is actually quite nice. Was running it from when I got my phone up until a few weeks ago.
Lately I just found it to be a bit bulky. So now I'm on insanity ii based on cm7 which is super light.
There are some cm7 based roms, insanity and oxygen.
As cm7 is still beta they don't want people building custom kernels yet, due to the extra load it would put on them due to stupid people reporting bugs in the custom kernels to them.

What advanced knowledge of this platform, I find digging thru this forum an impossibility. I have a Samsung Vibrant with stock FroYo 2.2 and am suffering terrible lag. It's beyond me why this is allowed to continue by the vendor.
So if I want a new ROM and/or Kernel to fix the major lag problem, I'm left wondering which is the best.
Well you kinda have to decide which type of rom that you'd want to try to use. If you want the stock rom I recommend installing the Bali kernel...it's fixed a lot of issues and gives great speed and battery life which is what I'm using.
Hopefully, you have rooted your phone before doing anything.
Bali Kernel Rocks for Froyo.
You can even try CM7 or MIUI Gingerbread ROMs.
We stopped relying on Samsung ages ago for providing any further updates.
If you want the best experience from your phone, you're going to have to take risks. But its nothing since this phone is technically "brickproof". Try installing a ROM besides Froyo, like GB or maybe a ROM that's Froyo but with different themes and tweaks, I just can't use stock 2.2 anymore lol.
Stupid Samsung and TMobile don't give a rat's a$$ about our phones or the Lag, and once they announced there will be no GB release, many devs have disappeared (though there are some new ones who inherited phones showing up now too )
For your first custom ROM...I wouldn't go with GB - it's not for beginners.
For 2.2 without the lag and some extra tweaks, try Project V - but there are lots of great ROMs out there that will help you ditch the Lag + a whole lot more. I know people who are still running Nero and Axura without problems - so you can probably just find a rom - look at the release date, and start reading the forum posts after that date. There's plenty in the noob stickies about how to root, most ROMs still provide install instructions.
Though - there are things like update of the Market, etc. - that you will need to allow extra time for during your "settling" periods...
i agree with the poster above, root your device and flash the bali 1.8.6 capped kernel. that'll convert your file system to ext4 and you'll be rocking. no need for the custom roms unless you're really adventurous.
While there is no need for custom roms I still think that you should try bionix 1.3.1 or project-v by edt both froyo roms to get a taste of what we in the vibrant community have and appreciate everyday
Bionix 1.3.1 has countless themes and project-v is by far imho the best 2.2 rom with the best speed and battery life and its always been what I fall back on when gb gives me problems. Also flash the trigger theme with it, it'll look better and bali kernel for battery

For a first rom I would suggest something form sombionix. He was the best dev ever on this platform, and the roms are pretty much stupid proof, and more reliable than stock. anything from nero v3 to bionix 1.3 are all solid. You just need to take the way back machine and look as far back as 2009 to find them. Though his last rom thread keeps getting bumped as its just amazing and everyone keeps using it.

Well...since I only have it based on what I've seen/heard here, I should rephrase:
"Once whatever event, whether official or otherwise, occurred that caused some devs and other XDA members to commonly believe that there won't ever be an official GB release for the Vibrant..."
