First let me start off by saying, (if I have posted in the wrong section, Mods please move this. I apologize.)
I need to know how to backup and restore the RSA Keys on the Motorola Photon 4G.
I need to do a CWM "/data" restore from a previous Photon, that I had gotten replaced, to my new Photon.
When I restore the CWM backup, (yes, this is necessary for me to do), I break my 4G.
I am assuming these are the RSA Keys that need to be restored after my CWM Backup "/data" restore.
So how to I back up my RSA Keys???

Can you please provide more details?
Are these nandroid backups? From CWM Recovery or CWM Bootstrap? And being restored with which of those two? Your answers will also tell us whether your bootloader is locked/unlocked.
And why do you need to do a direct restore of /data/ anyway?
try flashign stock sbf?

My bootloader is locked. Aren't CWM Bootstrap & Recovery the same? I believe I am restoring with Bootstrap.
I need to restore a backup to get my apps, and settings back. I have way too many apps and setup for my apps to start all over again. I just need to know how to restore the RSA keys after I restore a backup.

Shabby, my issue is getting 4G back after I restore a backup. I know I can get 4G to work by doing a factory reset, which I have done, but I need to:
1. Do a factory reset.
2. Backup My RSA Keys. How???
3. Root, Install CWM
4. Restore my old
backup from my old
Photon
5. Restore My RSA Keys How???
Thanks.
ok so what ive learned from this is the following, either we are all using the same exact wimax keys inside the sbf. or teh sbf doesnt touch them, in which case your wimax info is on your phone just the restore is messing it up. are you doing a full restore or advanced to restore just data?
were you running a custom kernel with your backup?

My guess is that an SBF doesn't touch them. Doing a Advanced/data restore. No custom kernal.
What I'll do is do a CWM backup of my phone now, do a factory reset by turning on the phone and holding the volume down button, wait for fastboot to pop up, go down until I see android recovery, press volume up key, when I see the triangle hold the volume up and down key together, and do a factory wipe from there. Then I can root, install CWM, and pull all of my apps to my SD card, go back and do it all over again except uses the first CWM backup I made on this phone, install the apps from SD card, then backup. Or just use an application name list saver.
Something like that. I have yet to start customizing my phone in a rom fashion since my last phone would not sbf.

no the sbf has to touch them, or the cwm isnt. because if you corrupted your keys due to the wm then if the sbf didnt touch them you wouldnt have 4g ever again
Shabby, from what I read in all the thread, it seems theres something in /data that breaks the keys. HE says that just wiping (not even installing sbf) restores the rsa keys. So, there must be something in /data that breaks it...
Anyway, WHAT I WOULD DO to OP. Just restore your backup, use titanium backup to backup all your apps. Do a factory reset again and restore with titanium!
Cheers
0) Restore your backup - break 4G
1) Download and install Titanium Backup
2) Backup with Titanium Backup
3) Do what ever to fix your 4G
4) Restore your titanium backup
5) ????
6) PROFIT!!
You do lnow you cannot restore the keys from a previous device right? Not on a photon at least...i tried for days on a demo device while trying to fix the bootloader.
Have you tried flashing sbf over your back up? Shouldn't clear your data but should fix /data so keys register and fix 4G.

Does resotring system from nandroid advanced restore works?
Can someone help please???
yup.. restore from backup would help you, if you have taken a backup...
try factory reset option before this.. it may work..
If nothing works..just re-flash stock rom..
Has anyone performed a factory reset with the SecSetupWizard.apk deleted?
This is the setup wizard when you first run your phone.
If so what happens when you turn the phone for the first time after factory reset, do you get any error messages, or something doesnt work correctly? or just enters to the main screen directly working all normally?
Do a nandroid backup and try it for yourself

I don't have CWM, i got stock recovery, and i dont want to lose all my data, i ask because someone must have done it already.

Hey guys this morning my S2 was working perfectly but after a while my home stopped working . But on further investigation i found out that my home button is working perfect , the only problem is that when i press it nothing happens but when i long press it it shows the recent app . i think that it is clear that home button is working but not doing any action on single press like showing the home screen . Can anyone tell me what can be the reason ?
I would be very thankful to you .

Haven't you heard of mybackup or titanium backup? They can even backup app data if you have root. Otherwise do a nandroid backup and only restore data after factory reset.
Edit: if you don't wanna reset... try wiping dalvik cache and cache and then check it out.

[Q] Downgraded 4.0.4 -> 4.0.3 to beat brick bug, now getting 'App stopped' messages
Argghhh.
I've managed to use Odin to get from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3, but when the phone starts it stops responding to input as it's putting up a chain of error messages. It started with 'acore' has stopped. I googled and went and cleared the App Data for Contacts and Contact Storage. (Clear Cache wasn't enabled for either). I'm now getting other app stopped messages... LogsProvider, Maps, Voice Search etc etc.
Should I reflash? Or do a factory reset? Or do a Clear Cache and Clear Dalvik (Don't know how to do those, so brief tips welcomed!)
My next steps were going to be to install the Chainfire root + CWM rom (instructions from http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i9100-xxlpq-root-cwm-clockworkmod-recovery-65393/). Should I go straight into that instead?
Help would be appreciated. I'm normally quite geeky tech guy, but given the brick bug situation I'm erring on the cautious side with this
That. (As long as you're 100% sure you're not running a 4.0.4 kernel; if in doubt, flash a custom kernel first).

just flash a custom kernel like Siyah v 4.1.5 (tar file for ODIN) from pc odin to get a custom recovery and then do a Wipe data/factory reset to bring about stability.
ps- do backup all ur user apps using TB so that after wipe data u can restore all those apps back on ur phone. Also make a backup of ur contacts (if not synched to google) and text messages (SMS) using third party apps from stores.
I've backed everything up via Kies and My Backup, and after logging out of the Samsung account I got a bunch more 'stopped app' messages... it's resetting now.
<fingers crossed>
If that's ok it's on to the Chainfire update I mentioned before...
edit:
Yay, starts fine, no errors, thanks
edit2:
chainfire's kernel installed ok too. So I think I'll try MIUI until the official UK release of JellyBean.
Glad it's working for you now. You're welcome
Re: [Q] Downgraded 4.0.4 -> 4.0.3 to beat brick bug, now getting 'App stopped' messag
Hello guys. I am currently using Slimbean RC1 and I made a backup of my rooted stock 4.0.4 with Siyah kernel so that when I restore my backup anytime in future then will not have any super brick risks. But I have a confusion. Do I need to do a full wipe in CWM before restoring backup? Or it will wipe automatically?
