Hi everyone, PLEASE READ PLEASE READ STEP BY STEP i was reading and a lot of people have questions about going to metropcs and nobody give them really good help, so i decided to make this post for you guys but please please do not post me asking how to do it in other htcs phone or worst in samsungs, lgs, etc etc I AM DOING IT THIS ONLY FOR HTC RAPHAEL or 6850 or touch pro cdma what ever you want to call it. ok so lets get start it. you have either two options:
1. Install the Hard-SPL (to unlock the phone), Install custom radio, Install custom rom, Install and modify files to make it work in Metropcs internet, mms etc. and finally take it to metropcs pay between $40 to $60 box so they flash it and you have already the phone working with everything. (recommened for dummies)
2. Install the Hard-SPL (to unlock the phone),Install custom radio Install custom rom, Install and modify files to make it work in Metropcs internet, mms etc. and Flash the HTC 6850 Touch Pro MEID and ESN to Clone the phone (i assume you have one phone already working on metropcs and you dont want to use the phone anymore so you clone it hehehehe.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Option. Download this file first:
http://www.4shared.com/file/140639926/7fa190d6/TP_ESN_FILES2.html
Important:
first, if you have GSM Touch Pro/Raphael (NOT CDMA, NOT SPRINT/VERIZON/ALLTEL/TELUS/BELL), this will brick your device.
to download a compatible hardspl package for gsm touch pro you can go to forum.xda-developers.com.
but if you have CDMA Touch Pro/Raphael, then you have to use this hardspl, not the one at xda-developers!!!
preparations before flash:
1) make sure you have .NET framework installed on your PC! if not, get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
2) if you have vista, WMDC update is recommended: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ce-center.mspx
3) now decide which Hard-SPL you want to flash. if you have Verizon, flash VZW package (from verizon attachment). if you have Sprint, Telus or Alltel or Bell, flash default package (Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.zip).
instructions:
1) extract Hard-SPL Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.zip
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run HardSPL exe that you extracted before.
4) follow steps in the RUU, and check on the device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) it should go to tricolour screen now and say 0.37.C-SSPL or for Verizon devices it should say 0.35-C-SSPL.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 0.37.CMONEX MFG.
NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot, that is the OS version, not SPL!
to enter bootloader mode to see version: with the device turned on, press and hold the volume down button along with the power button, then press the reset button with the stylus tip, then release the volume down and power buttons when bootloader tricolour screen appears.
NOTE 2: anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please copy SSPLManual.exe from the SSPLManual.zip attachment to the device and run it. then once the screen is in SSPL, run RUU manually. i.e. you run the RUU on the PC, if it isn't obvious.
make sure to get SSPL-Manual specifically for Verizon phones from the verizon package.
NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package is also available here.
NOTE 4: do not use this RUU to flash anything else! this is only intended for flashing the Hard-SPL.
NOTE 5: use Relocker *only* if you need to return the phone for warranty. only use it as last step - after reflashing stock OS and radio. Default relocker is for Sprint etc, Raphael_CDMA_VZW_Relocker in the verizon package is for Verizon touch pro's.

Next.Next.
we need to install the Radio, (make sure the phone is recognized by microsoft sync) i relized that the better one out there for metropcs is Telus v1.04.05V thats why i put it in my rar file.
1. extract Telus v1.04.05V and run ROMUpdateUtility
2. install it
3. when is done make sure the radio is v1.04.05V (in the dilaler press menu then press phone information and look for Radio.)
Next.
Install the rom of your chooise.I recommend for metropcs either mightyrom
(http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52695) or NFSFAN's Custom WM6.5 ROMs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516509) a lot of people ask for a custom rom for metropcs and thats not necesary to have almost every raphael cdma rom out there is compatible with metropcs.

2.option. HTC 6850 Touch Pro change MEID change ESN Repair / Clone Solution i assume you have a phone already in metropcs so u can clone it and avoide paying $40 or $50 dollars activation fee.
Download this file first:
http://www.4shared.com/file/140639926/7fa190d6/TP_ESN_FILES2.html

-install the radio that is on TP ESN FILES2\RAPHING
-install the rom of your choise from Option 1
-now MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN OR BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA SETTINGS BEFORE YOU DO THIS JUST IN CASE
- download
http://www.4shared.com/file/140658132/5838a6f3/MetroPCS.html
- install WModem_Driver_Installer_v1.2.2.4_WWE
-make sure to install get spc on the phone run it and get ur spc code
-disconnect phone
-put phone in diag mode (dial ##3424#) wait until the white screen disapear and connect your phone to ur pc
-now install all the drivers but maybe it will tell that u need qcmdmxp or another one so just select files from Program Files\HTC\WModem_Installer\WinXp
-Disable USB connection in Active Sync by unchecking checkbox in Connection Settings of Active Sync
-Hold Pwr and Vol Down buttons and push reset button to boot the phone in bootloader mode.
Part 3
-Run mtty.exe from TP ESN FILES2
-Leave every setting alone apart from change the 'Port' to 'USB' in yhe drop down box. Hit OK.
In the window that opens up, type the following commands (All Commands are case Sensitive) Hit enter after typing each one. You may see nothing while typing, just type carefully.
1. rtask a
12 echo_on
3. readCID
4. writeCID 00000000
5. readCID (window should return CID as 00000000)
6. rtask c (will probably give and error - mine did!)
-Soft reset phone and close mtty.
-Re-enable USB connection in connection settings of ActiveSync. Make sure phone is 'connected' to ActiveSync, you might have to unplug and plug in usb to make this happen.
-Flash phone with Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.exe

-open QPST configuration and click on add port
-make sure to memorize the port that says htc diagnostic that port com is really important we well use it for many things
-Launch DFS. from TP ESN FILES2
-Select your phone's com port. (top left ish) this is the port that i was talking about diagnostic port com
-Select 6950 from the HTC devices menu on the left. Before you all start, yes I know we are programming a 6850, but the secret here is that the MEID portion of the 6850 equipment file in DFS ties up to the MEID locations in the radio rom supplied (which was ported from the diamond)
-Ignore any errors at the bottom of the screen about equipment not found etc... Remember, just follow the instructions!! So, once the com port is connected, go the MEID section and type your originial metropcs phone the one you have to clone MEID(D)(decimal) it should be on the back of the phone also make sure that the original metropcs phone os turn off u dont want to turn this phone ever in your life. Ignore the pESN that it creates but do not modify it
-Click Write like 4 times and it will write it to the phone no matter what it says at the bottom of the screen.
-Close DFS and soft reset.
-now go to http://www.previo.net/meid-esn-converter.html
-type your MEID(D)(decimal) and click submit the important thing here is ESN the hex not the dec. so copy the hex one.
-Go into diag mode ##3424# again wait untill the white screen disappear and connect it usb to ur pc
-Open up the attached CDMA Workshop 2.7 cdma workshop.exe but the one is in METROPCS.RAR not the one is in TP ESN FILES2 and select the com port to connect your phone. THIS COM PORT IS THE DIAGNOSTIC PORT.
-click connect and then read
-in your phone go to dialer and type ##778# edit and type your spc code then.
-Go to the security tab in workshop and click read by the esn. It should display your current esn.
-Type the esn that the website give you the hex one. this should be your original metropcs nam number
-click write.
-Go to Nam tap and Click in Banner
-Type MetroPCS and
-click write
-now Close CDMA WS and soft reset
-now install the radio u want to use from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531134&highlight=radio
recommend TELUS v1.04.05V or VERIZON v1.03.03V
-when is done type in your dialer ##778# edit in the screen that says EPST and below that say Display will appear.
-we well need to modify some of this ones

If you had the phone flashed to metropcs all you have to do is input the Metro WAP settings. I did not use a cab file. First HardSPL, Archsoft MMS, then change WAP settings, and the registry.
wap
Yeah I tried inputting all the settings, then creating a new connection called metro pcs with all the port settings and stuff, which I don't even see on this guide. Because if you don't create a new connection, it wont do anything once I removed the sprint connection which I did by changing the guardian file, which allowed me to even remove it. But I was hoping that this program would I guess populate that stuff somehow, so I went through and manually put in all those settings. Still no connection
ok
ok you can do it this way put your phone in dial mode ##3424# wait until white screen turns off and open workshop 2.7 from mteropcs.rar you have to go other tab under PRL choose write and select the ppl file
when you open the browser a window will apear you have to write your [email protected] and metropcs as password
note u set this up ##778# edit Mip default profile thank u

from ryanmongul6800
Click View Info and pick Security, now we are changing this regardless you must do this, we are going to Unauthenticate you and Re-authenticate, it is a Needed step everything in this How To needs to be done and Not skipped! Change the HDR Auth User ID to something bogus like [email protected], the password below it make it something random but remember it, now do the same for PPP user ID and password but make them the same as the HDR ones.
Click view info and pick MIP Settings, Make sure Active Profile is on 0, MIP mode should be Simple IP only, MIP reg retries should be 1, MIP reg retry timeout should be 2000 ms, MIP pre-reg timeout should be 30, Mobile Node HA auth should be Disable, send a reg request should be Enable, dormant handoff to disable.
Click view info and pick MIP Default Profile, Enable profile should be ENABLE, NAI should be [email protected], MN HA SPI set should be enable, MN HA SPI value should be 12c, MN AAA should be enable, MN AAA SPI value should be 2, reverse tunneling should be enable, home address should be 0.0.0.0, Primary HA address should be 255.255.255.255, secondary should be 255.255.255.255, HA shared secret and AAA secret should be metropcs <--lowercase, DMU public should be 0, MN Authenticator should be 0.
Click view info and pick MIP customer profile 1 and make sure Enable profile is DISABLED. Now do the same with the other 4 profiles (profiles 2-5), make sure that the only profile enabled is MIP Default Profile.
Ok now click menu, ok and let it reset, but make sure not to do anything we are going to be going right back INTO EPST, so when it boots back up open the Phone application and dial ##778 call button (PST/EPST), we are going to re-authenticate you its easy, now click edit and enter six zeros, click view info and goto Security, now change the HDR AN Auth to [email protected], password should be metropcs<--lower case, same for PPP user id and Password make them same as HDR.
Click view info and goto MIP default profile, make sure the HA, and AAA shared secrets are both metropcs<---lowercase, then click menu OK and let it reset.

You're gonna hate me but cdma workshop only goes up to like com25, and the htc device automatically sets itself to com63 regardless of what usb port i put it in. I tried to change it but it shows all the previous ports being used.
hard way
ok you can try this out i have not try it so i dont know if it would work first go to control panel, then system hardware, device manager click universal serial bus controllers and unistall all of them restart your pc and it would install back the usb drivers then connect the phone diag mode if doesnt ask for drivers go to control panel, then system hardware, device manager go to ports( com & lpt) you should see htc diagnostic port if the port is below 27 we are fine if not delete all of them but do not unistall com 1. dont worry it will delete ports that u install thins when u plug things u have to install again so don worry. now if the phone ask you for drivers once u delete everything install them again but this time if still port higher than 27 go to device manager click in com 1 click update drivere install from specific locatiuon, dont search i will install have disk browse go to programs files /WModem_Installer/qcusbmdm.inf next yes ok and thats it you have it in com 1 after u done everything just delete port com 1 and it will install it after u reset the computer thank u..
u need to install WModem_Driver_Installer_v1.2.2
from metropcs.rar
try it in your friends computer or some internet cafe pcs hehehe i know bro always something happens

Awesome
I wanted to change carriers from Cricket to MetroPCS. Metro told me I would have to go to Dallas to have the Metro flash applied. Well that is a 2+ hour drive from where i am. I like Metros pricing plan. I can have 3 phones for the same amount I pay for 2 Cricket. Good job on this write up and work you have done.

This is old school - there are apps for tethering now, don't forget you need root.
it's easy to get mobile hotspot free with verizon, i believe it's the same for sprint if knows the setting .... anybody willing to share how to?
http://androidforums.com/samsung-fascinate/208100-tethering-natively.html
##diag#(##3424#) is not work(evo4g).
what to do?
Follow instructions in Blue 1pm est
Step 1: Talk and Text
What you need:
A QPST
B. HTC Diagnostic drivers for the Hero
C A Windows PC with either win7, XP or Vista running in 32 bit mode (64 bit will not work)
e. Cricket's 01039.prl -- get it here
fast PRL change dial ##PRL# and phone will enter prl mode, just browse to your sdcard and select 1039PRL, hit menu to change prl. Phone reboots. now call *228 to activation and program. NOW SKIP TO STEP 2.
step 1 long route
1. Once you have all of the items above installed, go to your number pad on your ERIS and dial ##3424# and hit Call. You will see a screen come up on the ERIS called the "DM Command Service."

7. On the right side of the window select the same port as was in QPST with the word "Surf..." next to it and click "connect".

9. Select the 6 digit number it generates and copy it.
10. Go back to the QPST Configuration and click on "Start Clients" and click on "Service Programming".
11. It will come up with a window displaying active phones. You should see one, the Surf....(whatever). Select it and click OK.
12. Click "read from phone". It will ask you for an MSL/SPC Code. Paste the 6 digit code you copied earlier and click Ok. In the settings tab you will see a box for the MSL/SPC code. Replace whatever is written in it with six zeros (000000). Click "write to phone". Ignore any errors that occur.
13. Click The CDMA Tab. Under Directory Number enter your 10 digit cricket number.
14. Click The Display Tab and type "Cricket" in the Banner.

Step 3: MMS!
What you need:
a. Android SDK---
b. Modified Telephony.db --
c. Have Eris phone flashed for talk text and web (see above if you have not done this).
1. Unzip android sdk to a place where you can find it (the shorter the directory name the better as you will soon see. Mine is saved in C:\android
Also unzip the telephony.db into a folder where you can find it. Mine is saved in C:\android
2. In windows xp click start, then run, then type cmd and hit enter. In Vista or windows 7 click start and type cmd in the search and hit enter.
3. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the Android SDK. If you are not familiar with the command prompt, I will make a list of the commands I enter in blue. The rest you see will be the text that will be generated by the command prompt: CD the directory of adb!!! ex. type cd hit space the drag the tools folder into cmd window. now you can adb push/adb pull etc.
4. Type the Following command
C:\android\tools>adb root
* daemon started successfully *
adbd is running as root
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Send the Modified telephony.db to the phone with the following command (keep in mind that you will need to substitute the directory I am using for the one where your telephony.db file is located
C:\android\tools> adb push c:\android\telephony.db /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
85 KB/s (4096 bytes in 0.046s)
6. Unplug your Phone and hold the power button to turn it off. Turn it back on and there you go!
some roms arent allowing the telephony.db to work giving 245kb/s or any other like 130kb/s.
My advice is if you get one to work, do a Nandroid back up, so you will always have a working web browser and MMS.

Your instructions/title look exactly like Brandonharrison's post on howard forums, if you got the instructions from him it may be nice to give him credit Also you may want to change the words "Hero" to "eris" since this is an eris guide also you can skip the part about spc unlocking from CDMA WS, since the eris comes factory with spc of 000000.
Anyways if your tracking the thread on howard you can update the web portion, to what i posted to get full market and apps working, credit goes to the team at howard forums who worked on getting it working for the motodroid. i simply modified their work so that it would work on the eris.
As promised here is a zip file containing 2 flashable zips:
One will handle the OS side to get Web/MMS up and running
The other will only do the web portion (Some people don't have good luck with the MMS that i did)
Download from the attachment below, or from here:

As always, make a nandroid backup first

so does the same process work for metro pcs and where can i get those files
Should work with any carrier so long as you know the proxy information and apn settings, in my zip you can modify the autostart.sh file and change the port numbers and ip addresses to match your carrier, then you can edit the apn to match your carriers settings as well and you should be good.
Im working on getting one for metro for you all, but i dont have all the info required and iv been busy with work, its really simple to do, i just haven't gotten around to it yet.

You don't need QPST, and it is in fact easier WITHOUT QPST
You don't need Windows Vista or Windows 7 (or windows at all).
Thank you for your contribution for this community.
I posted a thread for full functionality as well, with a different methodology.
And "flash" is a misnomer. All of the kids who think they're cool "flashing" phones to cricket don't even know what they're saying.
This phone can be all but fully PROGRAMMED for Cricket, and the "flashing" part is just to save you time transferring iptables to the phone.

Your little thread needs some help don't flame in my post.... if your going to create a flash solution. ..please edit it fully like I made an attempt to do. And not just say "follow instructions from HF" that was pretty wack!

You don't need, QPST.
Just open up your phone, then dial ##778 (call).
ALL of the settings you need to edit in QPST are available in your phone's built in program, EPST.

bigslanki,
No flaming intended. I was being serious when I said thank you for your contribution. All I've done is copied and pasted things from other sources that have worked for me as I've tried them. I should edit it more fully and maintain it better. Thank you for your suggestion.
I haven't used QPST since the days of ##778 on this phone, and I was only suggesting that less tech-savvy people, who may have trouble getting QPST working just right in Windows, might have an easier time without it.
All is well. Thank you, seriously, for your contribution.
What is the newest/easiest way?
Looks like alot of advancements have been made in the last 3 or 4 months to make the process easier. Is this thread still the best way to get an eris setup on Cricket with full functionality?
Please help out a noob! I've read so many posts, tried so may methods...I think I am SOOOOO close! But I just can't get the web/mms working.
Thanks!
Will this work for HTC Incredible? I seem to be stuck. *228 calls cricket but a voice says they can not program my phone. I have tried nearly ALL the prl files for cricket available on the link. I can call 611 from it also and speak to a csr but that was little/no help..
Please change this to hero thanks
Web on Eris
So if my Eris is already activated on Cricket with talk and text, will flashing for web (rooting etc..) de-activate my phone?

If you have a 3g indicator in the notification bar of your phone (as long as you have Mobile Network turned on - hold the power button, and turn it on, if it's not on already), then you're ready to flash the web/mms flash.
Flashing the web/mms flash or ANY kind of flash from Recovery will NOT affect your talk/text abilities whatsoever. It can only enhance the ability of your phone to do things.
I recommend flashing the Cricket v10 flash from token419's thread here, then using APN Backup & Restore to backup your APNs, modify them, then Restore them to make MMS work perfectly:

Let me know where you get stuck, if you get stuck.
Here's what I did, exactly, to get my ex-gf's working 100%
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7665352&postcount=135
thank you!
I also called a cricket store to ask this quistion, the guy mentioned that after today, cricket will launch there own google android phone, so anyone with a flashed android phone will have to pay the $60 Plan. any idea if this is true?

That's not true.
But if you go into the store, and ask for your Android phone to be on Cricket, then yes, you'll have to pay for the plan.
Otherwise, unless they're keeping inventory of customer provided equipment (which they never have before), you're fine.
In their notes they just have 'customer-provided equipment' listed, not HTC Droid Eris.
I wouldn't worry about it. My ex-gf has this going on, so we'll see. Sprint is $69.99 for a better/faster/more reliable network, so if Cricket does this, they might lose out to that, unless people really use the unlimited minutes.
Quick question. I am very new to the android unlocking scene but I have done a good amount of research. Step 1 of this guide shows us how to get text and talk working for cricket (and I'm assuming Metro as long as you load the Metro prl). What I want to know is Step 1 EXACTLY the same as getting MetroFlashed minus adding the esn to Metro's db?
The reason I want to know is because I got my phone MetroFlashed and set up data and mms. The next day I did a hard reset. Contrary to others beliefs doing so put me back on Verizon so I brought it back to be flashed again. Now I'm reading this and would like to know if Step 1 is all I need to do to get back on Metro in the event I need to do another hard reset for whatever reason.
The last couple of days I have really enjoyed trying out these new roms the Mx2 but I can never get the mms to work. My mx2 is with Bluegrass Cellular and if anyone can share the correct setting I would appreicate it. I have searched and searched and cant seem the find the correct ones.

Try this tutorial. It's not for MX2 but its still for ICS and its what I did to get my MMS working on Cspire.

I too have bluegrass and could not get MMS to work forever. Finally I found the right combination of fixes that works for me (and has been replicated on all my coworkers devices). I am using this on Eclipse 2.3 on my MX2. I do not know if it will work for other carriers or other ROMs. Use at your own risk.
First, you will need root (which you have if you are on a custom rom), and you will need a file explorer that let's you browse with root permissions (I use ES File Explorer with root options set in settings).
Browse to /system/etc/ and replace apns-conf.xml with all the .xml files from the Conf folder in the attached Conf.zip file. I am not sure why there are so many, I copied them from a stock Bluegrass MX2. (Feel free to make a backup of your original apns-conf.xml prior to replacement).
Now, browse to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and delete the 3 .db files here. (Again, make a backup if you wish). This will remove your existing text messages off your device!
Restart your device.
Now download "APN Settings Shortcut" from the Play Store. This is not an app or widget, but an actual shortcut. Press and hold on an empty space on your home screen and choose Shortcut and then APN Settings Shortcut.
Once it opens, hit menu and then new. Populate all fields with the following settings:

All credit goes to them, I just kept trying fixes until one worked for me, and it ended up taking a combination of three.

Self Bumping an old post so that anyone still in need can get some additional for ICS roms.
You can edit the APN information on ICS roms (or at least the latest CM9 Beta) by opeing Voice Dialer (it is a preinstalled app) and saying:
A P Ns
Then choose Open APNs. Hit the menu button and choose new, then enter the same information listed above. Hit the menu button again and choose save. Reboot and enjoy MMS on ICS.
Looks like lots of people are still having issues with T-Mobile Data and/or Outgoing SMS so I hope this helps. If I'm posting improperly I apologize.
1. Obtain root!
2. Open your apn settings(settings-->more networks-->mobile networks-->apn settings) create a new apn with the following properties
Name: T-Mobile
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: blank
Username: blank
Password: blank
Server: blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: blank
MMS Port: blank
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: Default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPV4/IPV6
(leave all other settings default)
3. Press the menu button to save, press back and select the new apn.
4. Open Advanced signal status app(linked below) and click additional info(if you get an error install the supersu.apk, also linked below) then try again.
5. Open phone information (option 1) and change the SMSC number to +12063130004 and change network mode to GSM auto(prl) click update.
6. Open the dialer(like you're going to make a call) tap the menu button and select "Call Settings", and then "Voicemail Settings". In the text field that pops up enter +18056377243.

What ROM are you using? Some variant of stock?
I'm having calling issues in the various CM versions I've tried.
edit - the GSM version of the GPE ROM works fine though. Flashed it with Danvdh's VZ kernel.
Originally on stock of1 but just flashed stang5litre but the method worked on both.
So I have to root to get MMS on to get the VZW S4 to work on T-Mobile correct?
So if I follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/samsung-s4-i545-verizon-of1-root-t3254434
I should be able to jump right in to your guide?

Yes sir!
I get a screen which says "Device Locked". the message goes on to explain this is likely because the phone has been locked down by manufacturer (carrier?) and even rooted devices can have problems due to SELinux restrictions.

If you see that message it's because the su binary is not high enough. Install the apk in the same folder that is linked in the OP, open supersu and update if needed then try again after rebooting.
Thanks. I got it to work. Looks like the SMSC number needs to be re-entered after each reboot and texting doesn't work in LTE mode, but looks easy enough to toggle back and forth when necessary.

Yeah I have the same problem of having to re-enter the SMSC number after every reboot too and I'm not sure of the culprit. Would love to know if there is a way to permanently change this so I don't have to fiddle with it every time

Check under your mobile network settings, make sure network mode isn't set to global. It should say gsm/umts. You may want to re apply settings after changing modes. I noticed the global setting screwed up my tmobile settings so hopefully it's related to your issues.(fingers crossed)

I followed your guide for my dad's verizon s4 but I am running into some problems.
I rooted it following the root guide linked earlier in this thread and root is successful. SuperSu is installed and root checker verified.
However, in my APN settings, under APN Type, i have to manually type in "Internet+MMS", and the under APN Protocol, the only choices are ipv4, ipv6, ipv4/ipv6.
Also, when I open the advanced signal status app, do i select the LTE/GSM (PRL), is that what you meant?
edit: even just selecting GSM auto (prl), i still cant get 3g, 4g, or LTE. Only edge.

Having to manually enter your apn type is normal. I have "internet, mms, supl" typed into mine. The problem you are having with the app being locked is because your version of the su binary isn't correct. Install the supersu app that is included in the OP. Before doing anything else you will need to open the newly installed supersu app and allow the binary to update. After it has updated immediately reboot and it should no longer be locked. Also back under the APN settings, don't mess with the ipv4/ipv6 settings. Just leave them at default.
When I get to APN protocol, it's not giving me the option "WAP 2.0".... Only IPv4, IPv6, and then IPv4/IPv6.
Also not giving me the option to save the newly created APN. What to do next?

At the bottom of the tutorial is a link to a google drive folder with two apk files. Download them and open them on your phone to start the install. After installing "supersu.apk" click open and accept the upgrade, click normal when asked what method to use then reboot when it prompts. The lock will be gone.

Great, thanks alot man that actually worked perfectly. Another question though... so in order to do what we just did, You have to have absolute root access to your phone right? i opened a terminal emulator app and notice that i still have the dollar sign on the command line. But when i run "su", it has the hash symbol which i'm assuming means i'm root now or at least have root privileges. Shouldn't i have had the hash symbol as soon as i started the emulator? does this mean my su binary is still not high enough?
