[Q] Can you replace Clockworkmod 3e with latest version - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've already got clockworkmod via cf-root, however when ever you use rom manager to reboot into recovery it just reboots back into the stock samsung 3e version of clockworkmod. I've not found anything through searching the forum, so I wondered if anyone knows how to address this.
Cheers,
James

In which case you dont have the file installed correctly or have wiped it .
Best to flash CWM and root from

Sorry I should have been clearer, I can use CWM Manager to reboot into recovery no problem. Plus based on the post you linked to, it does appear at present that ROM Manager can't reboot into the correct recovery.

kg6 rom manager cfroot incompatiblity?

I have a Odin flashed kg6 with cfroot also flashed giving me root.
I'd like to install cyanogen but when I install ROM manager and select install clockwork I can't reboot into it - I just get the stock recovery.
I see that there is clockwork for cwm with the cfroot and I can boot into that but I don't know how to install cyanogen unless I put an update.zip file on. In which case after I apply update.zip which finishes in a few seconds? ? Then a restart just hangs on the boot logo.
Is ROM manager for S2 incompatible or am I missing something?
I'm in exactly same boat, is CF-Root and cyanmod not going to work together or is it something on the firmware side, I've tried mutliple nightlies and XXKG1/2/3/5/6 with same result, ROM manager premium fails on signature and CWM that comes with CF-root does exactly as same as post above.
any help also appreciated.

CWM recovery

Hi
Something odd happens with my SGS2
I had CWM recovery installed since i rooted my SGS2.
Later i installed ROM Manager and used it to upgrade the recovery.
Rom manager is reporting now 4.1.0.5 but, if i reboot in recovery i see 4.0.0.2 and an error: 'failed to verify the whole-file signature'
I tried to reinstall it from rom manager and it ends with success but after rebooting in recovery, the same problem.
The triangle and error.
Do i have an easy way to fix it that doesn't involve odin?
Thank you

Instructions
CWM Manager
Because of incompatibility with ROM Manager, I wrote and included "CWM Manager". This is a new app (as of March 30, 2011). You can find it under Applications -> CWM. It is much faster to use than manually booting into CWM and selecting these options.

To use rom manager you need to use a kernel that supports it and not cf-root from what i can understand. I think theres a thread for cwm 5.0 here somewhere. (someone please correct me if im wrong)

[Q] 3e Still Booting Over CWM

So I am trying to install CWM for this phone. I have rooted, and installed CWM via Rom Manager. But, every time I reboot into recovery, it starts up 3e and not CWM. I have had this problem before, and have fixed it somehow. Unfortunately I do not remember how to do so. Please help!
EDIT: I am assuming Rom Manager is garbage for this phone, and I have to manually flash CWM. Is this true?
EDIT 2: Problem solved, I just manually flashed CWM and it worked fine. Mods please delete thread, sorry for posting.

How can i restore stock recovery using CWM?

Hi all,
i have searched in the forum i haven't found answer to my question.
I have rooted my galaxy tab without odin(using stock recovery and .zip file to install supeuser.apk) and i have installed ClockWorkMod by rom manager then i have done a nanodroid backup before installing CyanogenMod9.
In this way i haven't yellow triangle and my counter is still at 0 ;-).
Now i want to replace stock rom and stock recovery, i have replaced nanodroid backup. Now i come back to stock rom rooted, i can unroot it using another .zip file to be loaded via recovery but i still have CWM recovery.
Can i flash the stock recovery using clockworkmod? If possible i prefer not use odin. Is there a file like stock_recovery.zip to be flshed via CWM recovery?
Thank you very much.
Maurizio

You can find a .zip containing cwm recovery in the "retail 4g" section. It worked for my 3g model and I think the zip will cooperate with any tab.
Here is the link to the zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?w45j8i0fcj0wck0
Now unzip it, replace the recovery with your stock, zip it up and flash it through cwm.
I HAVE ONLY FLASHED PERSHOOT'S RECOVERY FOR CM9 THAT WAY, AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENS WITH STOCK.
You can find the stock recovery for your device here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=3&o=1#osa
Download the proper firmware for your device/region, untar it and get the recovery.img.
Just fyi you can flash official firmware with odin without raising the binary counter (Or so they say. I haven't tried this yet). In that case though your device gets wiped, so make a full backup prior to that.
Good luck!

[Q] [Problem][CWM Touch-6.0.2.7][Not Installing]

Hello people....
I am new to SGS3 xda forum....i am from Pakistan...its been 2 weeks since i bought a SGS3 (second hand)...probably of 3mobile U.K...i was told by the seller that the phone was unlocked in Pakistan....as i tried system update from settings...it said that my phone was modified and could not be updated....so i decided to install CWM Touch on my SGS3 in order to create backup of my current stock ROM (4.1.1)...my phone is not rooted yet....i followed the instructions given in the following link:
http://jellybean-news.blogspot.com/2013/02/complete-guide-to-install-clockworkmod.html
Odin took 1 second and my phone was booted....Odin gave the Message ''Pass!''...everything went fine as it should have been...but when i went into the recovery mod...Stock Android Recovery is opening instead of CWM Touch....noting my phone is not rooted yet....it is also normally booting and everything is fine....can anybody guide me about the problem that i am currently facing...and its solution as well....?? Help Would Be Appreciated...
Edit:Just Flashed CF-Root Pakcage Including SuperSU and CWM Manager with CWM v5.5.0.4....now it goes into CWM...but still one noob question....have my previous stock android recovery and CWM Touch been automatically deleted/replaced?...or they still exist?? Thanks
Sounds like you were trying to install a cwm without being rooted.
Cwm replaces the stock android recovery. You could now try flashing the cwm touch through your current cwm. Make sure its a zip. If you come and ask for help You should really follow a guide on xda though. They are the best guides around.

When you flash a recovery you will delete the previous recovery in doing so, your stock and touch are both gone - replaced with v5.5.0.4.
You can now boot into CWM and install a better recovery, try Philz touch recovery for instance.
