I'm unable to successfully flash a rom.
It goes through the whole process but when it reboots, it loads the animation screen and goes blank screen after that. wiped clean, tried multiple roms with same results. How long was I suppose to wait? What I'm a doing wrong
Make sure u download evo 3d rom? Also if u use twrp recovery go into wipe menu and select wipe everything. I notice wipe everything doesn't wipe sdcard so u r safe there.
I am sure its the evo 3d rom. I completely wipe and I'm using twrp recovery.
ill keep trying different things
Try wiping everything. Turn it off or battery pull and booting back into recovery. Might have to do it a couple of times but it works.

I am using Liquid Thundersense 1.4...I went into the liquid toolbox last night to do a wipe because I was going to flash a new rom. When I said yes to the wipe it turned off and then cam back on at my like main (i guess it is called a bootloader screen) and it will not get any farther than that...I'm not sure what to do about this because the only way the phone responds to anything is by pulling the battery or holding the power and both volume buttons down to restart back to the same damn thing again...I have never had a problem like this so I'm not sure where to go from here...Any help would be appreciated greatly!
I searched everywhere and could find anything this specific
OK I think my terminology was a little off...I guess the bootloader screen is the white screen where you can access fastboot, recovery, factory reset, etc...I still have s-off according to this screen...I can get here by holding down the down volume and the power and I can get to clockwork recovery. But it's when i try to reboot after either one that it gets stuck at that first loading screen
It sounds like you need to put a ROM on your SD card, boot into recovery and flash it from there. Did you not do a wipe and erased your existing ROM? No wonder the phone can't boot anymore.

You are right.
The white screen is the bootloader.
When you get to bootloader navigate to recovery.
if you have made a back up in the past you can go to backup/recovery and recover your old back up.
If not you will have to do what the user above said.
Put a rom.zip file on your sd card and flash it in recovery.
cowisland...thanks i did that and it worked...i must have done the damn wipe wrong or whatever, but i put a rom on my sd and it took care of the problem!

Yesterday I unplugged my phone and it wouldn't start. Had to take out battery and SD card to get it to eventually start, but it hung on the HTC white screen.
I can access the clockwork recovery screen, and have even been able to load previous backups and new roms to see if anything will work, but it won't let me get past that white HTC screen.
I feel like I'm close because I can still access the recovery menu, but something's up. So I have a few questions that if anyone can answer I will appreciate more than you know.
1) Is there a way to unroot my phone from the recovery menu/PC access so I can get it replaced by Verizon if it is a hardware problem? I know, I know, I did it to myself, but if there's a way out, I'll take it.
2) What are RUU files and would they somehow fix this? I am not against unrooting and going back to stock, especially after this scare.
3) As of now I have DasBampf 1.8.6 and MR2 radio on the phone. Will the RUU remove these and flash a whole new Radio/ROM? Again, I know I'm an idiot, but I need help. Help me Obi Wan!
4) I'll check back if anyone needs more info. BTW, the phone only boots into recovery *power+down volume* Won't turn on manually. I've tried another SD card, I've tried other ROMS. I have NOT tried any new radios yet, as I'm scared to accidentally brick it.
Thanks in advance.
go into bootloader (when it's off hold power button and volume down until white screen pops up) wait for it to check your sd card, then click wipe data. it should boot up after its done wiping the data, if not you might have to select reboot in recovery.
RUU update.
I flashed the 2.11.605.5 build of the new RUU. It started out fine, and then it failed at user data, system, and one other. Now it's still in the same hanging screen. What the hell!?
Please help me before I **** this thing up even more.
OTA updates are the DEVIL!!!!!! You people need to block them and stop installing the unrooted version while you are rooted with no reguard to your phones safety. If you are rooted install the rooted version of the OTA.
If I helped please use the thank you button and donate a free account to my dropbox http://db.tt/uDc7iw7x
I didn't read the op but if its hanging on htc screen with new ota try flashing the radio the new ota has or an older one. Had that issue with my EVO.
The wrong radio will cause your phone to never pass htc screen.

Haven't tried anything new yet, but besides one time this morning, I can't even get to the bootloader. Won't turn on, even with a spare charged working battery. Time to call Verizon and maybe eat the payment, methinks.
Update for anyone interested.
I got onto IRC and contacted Jcase, who had me flash a new RUU, which seemed to fix the problem.
HOWEVER, my phone is still FUBAR, as it shuts off periodically and will not allow me to call out. I managed to go through the entire unroot process and got my phone back to original status. I have a replacement coming from Verizon soon and although I think it's a hardware problem with my phone, I don't think I'll be rooting again anytime before my warranty expires. Thanks for all the help everyone.
need help
Hey guys, I was trying to unroot my thunderbolt but jacked things up. I had it wipe all date, now will not boot Its still rooted. When i go into the reboot mood its by Revolutionary. Info it displays where it gives me options of fastboot, recover, factory reset, simlock, hboot usb and image crc is

Idk if that helps. It doesnt reboot or does a looping process. Just stays at the white htc screen and doesnt say anything, and is not the screen where it says htc quietly brilliant. When i go into recovery 4ext recovery touch is whats available, current rom:unknown. Im fairly new so i would greatly appreciate any help, I like this phone alot and would hate to use something else. I dont care if after everything is said and done its still rooted or not. I have my personal info still on my card and a backup on my computer so im safe on that and dont care if i lose everything on the phone. Also i did not try to do the ota update.
Because you wiped all your data to ahead and wipe cache and dalvik cache and system. Then flash another rom.

If you dont me asking, is there a step process you can suggest or point me to? Idk how to flash the rom and am new to this scene.
When flashing a rom. Wipe caches (cache and dalvik cache), wipe data (most of the time I recommend doing this), and system/boot partitions. Then after wiping all of those choose the option to flash a rom( I haven't used clockworkmod recovery in ages and I don't remember what they list that option as). When the installation is completed reboot and if all goes well you should be running a custom rom of your choosing. I would suggest you ditch cwm for 4ext recovery just as soon as you can. Cwm has some unusual bugs where the caches may not be properly wiped and your rom won't boot because of this.

I know back in the EVO days of no 4EXT Virus had a SuperWipe. It would wipe everything 3 times in CWM. If you are persistent to keep CWM you might want to try that... I think I have it somewhere I can make compatible for the Thunderbolt. But it is highly recommended to use 4EXT instead.
I had it at one point too but wiping 3x or 10x just to flash a rom is ridiculous.

My friend forgeted evo 3d password. So I would like to reset it. In H boot I chose the factory reset and select it by power button. I think there should ask for confirmation, however there was not and the phone restarted but seems the lock and my other apps still there.
Why this happened?
Thanks.
Can you go in recovery and wipe everything bit sd card and the flash a new rom

No. When select recovery the phone just reboot again.
Do you have a cdma or gsm 3D?
Edit: Either way, figure out which version of software you are on and download the corresponding RUU from here. The RUU's are the ones that end in .exe
Get the phone into fastboot, plug it into your computer, and run the exe from the computer. It will factory reset the phone. Good luck!
solved.
re-flashed the shooter recovery and wiped data in the recovery.
Thanks.
my phone wont turn on!!! i mean it'll go to the part where it says "HTC quietly brilliant" but its just stuck there...then i would the press the power button again and it'll just do the same thing. SOMEONE PLZZZ HELP!
Need more information. Did you flash anything recently? Are you S-OFF? Can you access recovery? Did you try to run the RUU or reflash the ROM?

its S-ON, yes i can access recovery, the only thing i did was try to change the font using Font Installer then it rebooted after that it would go on HTC quietly brilliant logo then blacked off, i hold the power button but it did the same thing over n over again for an hour. So i thought if i factory reset it it would fix the problem but i think i made it worse cause now its just stuck on HTC quietly brilliant logo, I left it there for couple of hours and went out hoping when i get back a miracle would happen and it'll be fix but when i got home its still stuck on that logo. I still can access recovery though. This is my very first rooted phone and i have no idea what to do next.

What recovery are you using, TWRP? Had you flashed a ROM prior to tinkering with fonts? Did you make a full backup of your stock ROM after HTC unlocking to load your recovery? I am going to make some assumptions to my questions. If you are using TWRP you can mount the sdcard from recovery and copy on another ROM (pick one to use ... MeanROM?). Even if you can't mount the sdcard from recovery you can still get a ROM on to your phone by pulling sdcard2 from the external sdcard slot and manually mounting/copying to/from your CPU.
If you made a backup of your stock rom after loading your recovery then the first thing to try is wiping everything (factory, caches, etc...) and restore the backup. (Sounds like you may have tried that already).
If that does not work then download a different ROM and try it ... MeanROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727167) uses it's own splash at start so that may help (because it sounds like you are stuck at the HTC splash).

When you get in recovery wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, system. Then reflash the rom, you will be fine.
Sent from my lair.
It seems to be that some people are having problems with flashing other fonts (source). ALWAYS do a nandroid backup before doing any of these types of modifications to your phone in the future, it's the fastest way to fix broken things. Also make sure that the fonts you are trying to install have been working with our phones and the newest versions of Android and/or Sense.
Here are some things you can do that might fix your bootloop. In descending order try these:
If you have a current Nandroid backup, restore it. It will get your phone working 100% with the least amount of data loss and won't require you to set it all up again.
Re-flash the same ROM you have (if it's stock, it can also be found in the Android Dev section of the forum). This will likely fix the problem. Especially if it's a font issue.
Hope it doesn't come to this but run the RUU that matches your system. This will completely set your phone back to day 1. You'll have to reroot, etc.
Best of luck. And remember to do nandroids often! :good:
THANK YOU GUYS!!!! i was about to give up
i did what you guys told me to do, download a different rom install it on my sdcard and flash it in recovery. AGAIN thank you guys so much, ya'll just made my day. MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
Anytime you can access recovery you are fine

It seems most are able to get the rom going without issue. Just curious if there is anything outside of the standard process before loading a fresh rom. I've wiped cache/data/dalvik multiple times as well as reinstalled multiple times to no avail. Will not get past the white HTC screen.

It sat for at least 10 minutes. I always let a fresh rom sit for awhile. It just never got to the splash screen.
format system, that is one thing that most people miss.
I always backup my stuff then format /cache, /system, /data, & /sdcard so the phone is completely fresh. Then I re-install my backup app and restore my backups to the sdcard. I realize that formatting the sdcard is not necessary, but I just prefer having my the phone completely fresh. Most of my data is in the "cloud" anyways, so very little needs to be restored.
Personally I never really wipe the /system, as it is done automatically before the ROM installs. I do wipe /cache, /data, and /dalvick 3 times, just to make sure it works. The ROMS install without a hiccup, now if I could just get the Wi-Fi to stop causing my phone to lock up.
My recommendation would be format system manually just in case cause I have always done that and never had issues with a rom install. Liquid Ics jmod is running o so smooth for me.
