Well happened to me too. Yesterday was my first day using Galaxy S and I bricked it 4 times
What you need to do is this:
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Take out your sim card, memory and battery.
3. Keeping volume+ pressed insert back the battery.
4. Keeping the volume+ pressed connect the phone to the usb corb. (note the usb should already be plugged into the pc).
Voila you are in the download mode.

Sound like you are super screwed. Well if the phone boot up to the vibrant screen, there's only one thing to do. Buy a new phone
Get it into DL mode by taking out battery and sim, holding the two volume buttons, then placing the battery back inside while still holding everything. Then let it sit in Dl mode so battery can charge i guess. then odin back should work.
if ya want to, you can ship the phone to me with $50 and ill fix it for you. if I cant fix it, ill ship it back to you with the $50. sound fair? PM me.

This is what I was asking you if your phone doesn't turn on at all whatsoever, you have a brick. At that point, there is nothing you can do to fix the phone other than replacing the motherboard. Maybe the battery is dead? check check check. If the screen lights up in any way or the buttons do, you can get into download mode and use odin to re-flash back to original firmware. If your phone doesn't light up at all, you cannot fix it.

Need help getting Vibrant from ICS to factory stock.

I'm sure this has been asked before and I apologize for asking again if so. (I tried to search but couldn't find the files I need.)
I need to get my Vibrant that is on ICS back to 100% factory.
I know I have to repartition to go back but I can't find the factory Odin and PIT file I need.
Thank you all in advance.

Awesome! Thanks.
New problem. (Small but important.)
I am not able to get into Odin download mode. I have all my drivers installed and when I connect the phone the battery icon pops up but if I do the three button method the screen goes black like it's supposed to be it just reboots and either goes back to the battery or powers on. (I am on ICS Passion V12 if that helps any.)
Any advice? I'm stuck without linking with Odin.

Cut the phone off, pull the battery out and put it back in. Hold volume up and volume down keys at the same time(do not hold power button) and plug the usb cable in. If you have gingerbread boot loaders then it's really simple, cut the phone off and hold volume up key only then press the power button.

It appears I can't catch a break!:crying:
I got the phone restored to 2.1 and it worked flawlessly.
I plugged it up to my pc to upgrade to 2.2 through Kies. I had charged to 100%, it upgraded successfully and said the device would reboot. It never did.
It appears Kies and 2.2 have hard bricked the phone. I don't get a charging indicator and can't get into recovery or download. The phone is completely unresponsive.
I am really starting to hate Samsung.
Yea - there should be a big warning everywhere not to use kies.
If you connect the phone to the pc does it show up in Odin? If so flash away.
Try the battery method again. Also instead of going to 2.1 you may want to try the Froyo KB5 2.2 Heimdall 1-click:

download:

I haven't used Odin to get the 2.2 stock since the 1-Click

Doesn't show in odin cause I can't get into download mode. :-( I'm afraid it's a hard brick as I get no response at all no matter what I try.
have you tried
1. unplugging the phone
2. pulling the battery
3. plugging it into the computer
4. place the battery back in
5. holding volume up + volume down + power
this is how i got to download mode when my phone wasn't responding
I know you said you tried everything i just want to make sure.

Just tried it again. No luck. I guess the phone is trash thanks to Samsung. :-/
Hey there. My phone was unresponsive as well, would not go into download mode, even tried the battery thing..
This link, One-Click Unbrick
Try that and see if it works for you, make SURE you have the latest Java.
My phone wasn't completely black, I had the Phone to PC error, but I could NOT get it to get into download or even see that something was plugged in. It was unresponsive to everything. I tried this program and BAM, I'm back into bootlooping. Shut my phone off, turned on in bootloader and reinstalled everything.
You MAY have to reinstall somethings so you might have to go back to square one, however at least you'll have a working phone.
Kies also bricked my first Galaxy.
Hopefully the One-Click unbrick will work for you! I wish you good luck!

Samsung may replace the phone for you, call and tell them it bricked while using kies. For future reference do NOT use kies ever again, it is known to brick devices. If your phone is getting no power at all, then calling Samsung is your only choice and hope they replace it for you. I wish I would have known you were planning to use kies, definitely would have warned you not to. You can look into buying a usb jig for your phone, they are under $5 and maybe could help. You can also make them yourself for around 1 dollar.

The phone is out of warranty so I'm sure if they'd replace it or charge me to fix it.
The jig thread said it didn't work if you are completely unresponsive.
I'd used Kies on my Wife's Captivate and had no problems so I didn't know it would wonk up my sons Vibrant.
I'll try out the 1 click method and update.
Thanks again for the advice. (My son is using his old Nokia Nuron again so he at least has a phone in the interim.)

Yea you could be right about the warranty issue but it was Samsung's program that screwed up your phone. If you haven't called them already, I would call and explain that you would still have a working phone if it wasn't for kies bricking your device. After all, Samsung recommends us to upgrade through kies even tho it has caused more damage than good from my experience. It's worth a try, you never know.

Just so you know, we recently had another member that hard bricked his phone using kies and was also out of warranty with T-Mobile. He called Samsung and explained THEIR program/software rendered his phone useless. He got a brand new vibrant out of the deal.

[Q] Vibrant doesn't turn on.

While using ODIN to go back to 2.2 and root the Vibrant became disconnected within the process while in the middle of RE-PARTITION. (Little brother tried to play ANGRY BIRDS) but now it doesn't turn no charging screen. Cannot even get into download mode. My question here now is, am I screwed? Am I officially bricked?

Is there no response at all when you try and turn it on? If that's the case, jtag may be you're only hope . First you could try a USB jig to force you're phone into download mode, you can make one for like $2 or buy one for $5. If that doesn't work you could send you're phone to www.mobiletechvideos.com and get it jtagged, those may be your only options. If your under warranty you may be able to get it replaced by tmobile.....

Not under the warranty anymore, but where do I find this USB JIG?
I bought one at www.mobiletechvideos.com just because I know they are a very trusted source. You could search youtube for a video on how to make one if you wanna go that route.

Before you go and dish out the money for a jig or j-tag service, try following these steps...
Actually, real quick I'd like to throw in this Pit file and this Tar file that you'll want to use. They are the files that will take you back to actual out of the box stock, which is 2.1 (eclair). Now to the steps... For real this time ...
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
***You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.***
^^^ I didn't think of that, I don't think his phone will even cut on but its worth a shot. Maybe he will get lucky and odin sees it.

Tried what was recommended and nothing worked. ODIN did not even recognize my phone point blank. I don't have a paypal either to order the JIT/JTAG so trying to find another alternative at the moment. Both of my spare phones are in use as well so I am basically SOL. =/
Paypal is free, at least when I signed up it was. You just add a credit card to the account

@NOOB_IN_NEED where in Florida are you located?
hi,
I found a thread which I think will be useful for your problem
Thread NAME: ** [GUIDE] FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK + ODIN SUPPORT! N00b Friendly **
Thread LINK:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
Just quoting :
NO-BOOT PHONES
This is where your phone does NOT turn on, no combo of buttons works and power button does nothing.
DO THIS ONLY WHEN YOU PLUG IN YOUR PHONE AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON THE SCREEN!!! If else, follow the steps from above.
This method is basically same as above, EXCEPT the way you get into Download Mode as your phone is HARD BROKEN.
1. Download all the files required in the "BOOT CYCLE" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
8. Follow steps 4-8 from the "BOOT CYCLE" section.

Started with boot loop. now nothing.

Long story short, phone has worked perfectly until yesterday. Looked down, phone turned itself off. Went to fire it back up and was hung up at the "galaxy S/Samsung" screen. I have been looking through every relevant thread that the search pulled up and still haven't found an answer. I have followed all the directions to get it to the download mode and also downloaded the AIO vibrant toolbox/files and tried restoring to stock ROM. At first, my computer (desktop) installed the device and recognized it. Odin also recognized it. After about 20 minutes Odin was hung up on the 4th step. Now the phone doesnt do anything. No power, no screen image, no battery indicator..nothing. I'm not trying to do anything special, I just want my phone to work again..as I'm stuck using my crappy bberry again.

Sorry for the late response gentlemen, wife is 8 months pregnant... dealing with exorcist like hormones. I tried the soft brick fix earlier and it still does nothing (although it worked on my first attempt before ODIN timed out). I still have a pure black screen with no detection of any phone on my PC or in ODIN (no yellow). I've tried with and without my sd card as well as about every finger combo I have read about. As a side note, before I created this thread, I tried a fix from another thread that suggested I download some kies (sp?) program via samsung... needless to say that is when all this nonsense started to not cooperate. I have uninstalled that. Currently I'm trying to use the AIO vibrant toolbox, but still no dice with ODIN.
**also, since my phone magically turned off and started this whole boot cycle, the AIO toolbox says that the USB Debugging mode is disabled...not sure if that means anything, but I assume that is important?
Samsung kies is notorious for bricking phones. Sorry

Wonderful. Is it fixable at all or am SOL?
Not really sure about all this but you absolutely must have usb debugging enabled to do anything from your pc.

Which couldn't be done due to the phone not getting past the bootscreen.
Did you try theexels advice? I've been at a point where download mode won't start, but I found out it would start as long as I pulled the battery and then without trying to turn it on, put it into download mode.
Also the phone did at least get to the same screen after you used Kies, it only completely died when Odin stalled?

I have quite a few times, but nothing ever shows up in the ID:COM area. The only time It did was prior to the kies install. After further investigation, it seems like that was the worst possible thing to install.
Do. "pull out the battery method" via USB cable. I hard bricked my phone. Samsgun357 helped me so much. Try different computer and different cable. I fixed my problem by my friend 's computer because my computer could recognize my phone only once time.

I'm not 100% sure. But if you get the right recovery Odin it to your phone. I just bricked my phone the same way. I'm on MK2. I tried Odin and the MK2 tar. But that didn't work. Now my phone says. Go to Kies recovery Have you tried holding down power/Home and volume down to see if u can get into download mode. If u can't. Then your battery might be dead. Phone won't charge if in bricked state.

If you can get into download mode, you can flash back to a stock build. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Yp47DV4UuQ&feature=youtu.be

It's time to watch the windows device manager to see what appears.
Windows/Break (hold down the windows key, then press break). For windows 7, then click on "Device Manager".
Open that and then plug in the phone and see what appears.
it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager

That's bad news - that's the low-level Qualcomm boot loader. You may be stuck having to find someone to fix it by JTAG'ing the device.
Google around for "Galaxy S4 QHSUSB_DLOAD" - there's nothing flashable for the I545 that I could find right away.
ya i just did some searching for that too looks like JTAG is the only way. found a place that will do it for $60 plus shipping. not to bad in the grand skeam of things compaired to buying a new phone thats cheap.
if anyone needs it heres the link..

Had that happen twice before(different device) but your device is out of luck, as k1mu said jtag is the only option for saving it

One reason why many of us stress to take time to read and research before leaping into nodding your phone. It takes time but will save time and money in the long run.
