I don't know if it works on the Ace, but there's an app called Screen Filter, that turns down the brightness of the screen and also has an option to turn off soft keys. It's useful for night reading.

Has anyone found a way to turn off the backlight for the search button? I was able to turn off all other capacitive button backlights but the search button for some odd reason, even though I changed it in file manager.

This is light bleeding from the screen
I have it too, just keep the buttons on dimmest settings, so it's not off completely.

Topic pretty much says it. I like to have the power button be able to hang up, because fumbling with getting screen back on, and selecting the red hang up button is a hastle.
But, if I need to get to the keypad and the screen is blacked out, is there a way to get the screen on? Seems like the answer is no. It hangs up when I try to.
Try to wake the screen with the Home button? Wakes it if it's locked, etc... Maybe will wake when in-call?

That does it. Thanks.
screen should automatically turn on when it goes away from your head due to the proximity sensor. if it doesn't, then put your thumb over the proximity sensor and take it off to create a "pseudo-effect"

Using speaker...it goes dark.
But as noted, the home key does the job.
Hello
Actually I'm searching for an idea how to turn on and off my button backlights on my Samsung Galaxy ace2.
I would like to have an script, which, when it was run with tasker, turns of the backlight immediately.
It would be nice, to use the BLN feature of my Kernel and still being able to turn off the normal backlight when using the phone actively. Each time I will turn on the screen then, tasker should run the script to turn off the backlight.
Thank you for your help )
How to shut off capacitive buttons from lighting up? Did Samsung remove this feature to shut off and change duration?
Yep,,,sadly they seem to have removed this option. Annoying.
Looks like we weren't the only ones to notice

Thanks. At least it is something to use at night.
Hi, I have the S6 Edge. The touch key lights are not working at all. In Settings I have the Touch Key Light duration set to "Always On". Power Saving Mode is off, but they still won't come on. The keys do blink briefly during startup, so I do know they physically work. Any ideas? Thanks
Hello
This is my second day using the Gear S I set the screen to be Always On, as it is more comfortable, but I noticed that every accidental touch on the screen will wake the watch up :cyclops:
is there any way that I activate the screen using the power button only?
thank you all

You can't have both. If you want to do what you're describing go into style and shut off clock always on. Then go into motion and uncheck wake up gesture.
Your watch will now only turn on the screen if you touch the power button.

isn't this something we can come around by rooting?
I mean aren't there any workarounds?:crying:
still searching and reading
I am looking for the same solution - I want the screen to always show a high battery efficient clock and only show the main watch face when I press the home button or activate the screen by doing the wake up gesture(as Sony's SW2 does...)
