I almost forgot that. Thanks!

Is it safe to assume deep sleep is a non issue here, and TK's kernel is compatible?

I'm currently on Cyanogen 7, can I go straight to this rom without doing the Odin thing?

As this is an mtd rom, you should be fine flashing this over CM7 in recovery. You may be able to get away with just wiping cache/dalvik, but you may need to wipe data, unsure about that. Probably best to wipe all 3.

Great job on this build. This rom is ridiculously fast and I usually replace Launcher2 with any new rom install, but this version is so smooth I may just keep it.

I definitely agree with you usually I wipe data. I notice less issues when I wipe data. I know people just don't want to reinstall their apps but if you got a backup with titanium it takes like five minutes to reinstall apps.

Dumb question...do you need a kernel for this one? Currently I am on stock ED05 rooted. Will I need to download Glitch or something else?

Does mms work with this rom?

About to jump on this!... Quick question. Was on MIUI them CM7 and went back to ComROm... Do I flash this ROM with CWM 3 or should I Odin CWM4 (CM7 recovery)??

It comes with its on kernel. Just odin JT's fixed CWR for CM7 and flash away.

Is there any speed bumps so far?
I read OP and I can read its fully functional before anyone says it.

if you don't have it down to quickly rebuild your phone from scratch, what have you been doing all this time flashing roms? titanium backup all apps and app settings and restore after you set the phone back up, takes 10 minutes!

Is the glitch kernal compatible with this?

Flashing kernels?

Hey guys. Ive been looking around and can't find much. I was trying to flash fauxs kernel through cwm and I just get stuck at the boot screen. In cwm it says flash successful have fun and then nothing when I reboot. It is the d00 one or whatever and I checked through terminal emulator. I'm running cm7 on bell. Thanks in advance.

unless things have changed in the last 2 days, you shouldnt be flashing any other kernels yet on CM7. you havent specified which kernel you were trying to flash, but you should be using the one that came with CM7 for now.

Actually, fluax has a 1.3 kernal for the cm7 rom. another thing, the rom comes with his 1.1oc kernal. so yes you can flash it, i can give you a link to the kernal if you want, and to flash a kernal you need to be sure its meant for that rom or it wont boot, if it is then just clear catch, some say dalvec or something in advanced but i didnt do that when i flashed the 1.3 for alien.
Yup the 1.3 was the one I was trying to flash.. I'm pretty sure I'd have to check. And I wiped only the cache a couple times, and also both cache and delvik. Does it usually take a lot longer on first boot?

The kernel that comes with the ROM has bug fixes that aren't included in the 1.3 GHz kernel. It's not suggested that you flash over it.

Alien Rom

Hello everyone , now I know that there might be a topic on this, but im incredibly paranoid and I need an answer to my question . I have rooted, unlocked the bootloader installed RomRacers recovery and installed faux123's kernel (enhanced 1ghz no OC ) and I'm international (England specifically tmobile). I would like to know if I can install alien.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
This is posted in the Q&A section for the ROM:
"I'm not on AT&T and this ROM is completely broken!
This ROM is not yet designed for international compatibility. Please wait for future updates or attempt an install with a proper international kernel."
Now, from what I understand, you will need to pull the AT&T kernel from the build and replace with the international kernel prior to flashing.
So, in essence you can flash it, but not AS IS when you download it.
Don't install Alien. Its old, outdated, buggy, and there are many better ROMs that are being constantly updated and work with international.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
personally I didn't think alien was buggy at all, but there are plenty of other newer roms out there. I'm currently on the current CM7 weekly , and have no issues.

Yeah, Alien isnt buggy, its very stable. Just an older ROM.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
It is possible to use alien unfortunately I am far from home and can not upload you my costume alien rom for international but you should be able to search for how to change kernel in ROM and make your own build but alien is far outdated I suggest either darksides rom (very stable very fast and very user friendly) or a cm7 build I personally liked the darkside with 1.3 oc cpu

thanks everyone!
and by the way, i flashed Alien, it was REALLY buggy, so i flashed Darkside
Or why don't you try WetDreams. This is his new ROM based on 2.3.6 instead of 2.3.5 on DarkSide.

By really buggy, what do you mean? Alien was one of the most widely used, and best ROM's when it was released. What was not working properly with it?
Also, you should give SUPEROSR a try. It's my daily driver right now, and has been the smoothest of all the ROM's for me.
I mean buggy because when I clicked settings, It didn't show. Manage apps, CRASH! it did not work well. And also just wanted to ask, if I download wet dream, do ihave to wipe cache dalvik cache and full wipe my phone? They are by the same dev right? (Same question For superosr )

It really depends on the ROM. You dont HAVE to wipe for most of them - HOWEVER - You'll have a much cleaner install if you backup all your apps (not system data/apps - NEVER do that) using Titanium Backup, and wipe everything afterwards. I use fastboot to wipe everything before a ROM install.
fastboot erase data
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase preinstall
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
Then boot into recovery and install your ROM (should have already placed it on your internal SD before wiping)
This eliminates most problems with a ROM install before they happen.
Since you've unlock the bootloader you can install any rom

Another good Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398819 even the ee ver with the normal 1gh is ultra fast and it works so smooth and I get a 4 day battery per charge with regular use (txt msg,lil music and even a bit of gaming) highly recommended to anyone who wants a fast stable Rom.wither you want battery or a performance / battery balance or even if you want something for benchmarking

[TRICK]Rom switching cm7 to cm9 quick + recovery to recovery CM9 bootloop breaker

Hello,
I dont know if it's really silly to post this,
but flashing CM9 and using three key recovery can lay you into recovery to recovery bootloop.
before, I use to flash [EH03] stock rom to overcome the problem.
I just notice a simple way, maybe some might be aware of this.
Here it goes,
First flash the following recovery from odin :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=556634&d=1301538947
and then once you are in recovery then flash a glitch kernel from recovery :-
dowload link :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488976
This breaks the loop.
I dont know how it works but seriously it worked for me.
if it doesnt then flash ths build, and you are done. this can also be use to switching cm9 roms easily rather then again going to stock.
sageDieu said:
it also works to flash a gingerbread rom (I keep a stable cm7 rom on my card just in case) and you don't even have to wipe data, just flash cm7, boot, recovery, then flash back to ics. that way you can save yourself if you're away from a computer.

Silly? Not at all!! I've been wondering about this issue. So many times I would just say screw it and odin back to EH03 stock and start all over because I couldn't get the right CWM to flash.
Thanks!!!!

If you are in a boot loop where recovery does not come up, how do you get to a point to flash?
hello,
you need to flash recovery from odin, so that you can flash a rom. it is mentioned on first post.

[Q] Method for CM10 Nightly updates

Hi all,
I've been using a nightly build of CM10 for a while now, one of the ones with the memory leak. I'd like to keep on top of the most recent nightly builds on a regular basis, but I hate the process of having to re install all my apps again, losing app data and adding all the sync accounts etc etc.
I was just wondering what process people used for updating to the most recent nightly, if there are any easy ways of doing a simple backup for everything, then just restoring it after the update.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I disagree completely, wipe once, if at all.
Twice is completely unnecessary.
Before or after doesn't matter a sh*t as long as you do it before you boot the ROM.
(I've often not wiped anything and its been fine although I'll give best practice advice here.)
Actually with nightlies I don't wipe anything, ever, unless specifically instructed to do so by the dev (new code base or whatever)

[Q] Please help, Screen of Death on ANY KitKat ROM

It's really starting to bother me. I even thought that it might be that I deleted files I needed, so I completely unrooted and factory reset my phone, then rerooted and installed CM11, but it still did it.
ROM's I've tried that do it: CM11, Gummy Rom, OmniRom, AOKP
Any KitKat ROM causes my phone to Screen of Death and I can not for the life of me figure out the cause.
Please, can someone help me out?

I will say this. Twrp 2.5.0.2 is probably the best recovery for this phone. Others have had success with various recoveries. But IMO it seems to be the best.
That being said let's alter your process.
Factory Reset is fine. Then go to advanced wipe, select system, Data, Cache, davlik. Then Wipe.
Install rom and gapps. Reboot. Don't wipe cache and dalvik again.
Let me know.
If that didn't work I'll help you get to the right version of TWRP.
Let me know.
Which gapps? Make sure it is a version for 4.4.2.
Banks gapps or PA gapps are fine.

I use the Cyanogenmod Gapps from their list. And today is the first day running the new TWRP. For the last five months or so I was on 2.5.0.2 and I had the same problem. So I don't think that's the issue. I'm really at a loss though, I can't figure it out at all. But I'll definitely try your method.
