[Q] Can't move app to sd on Gingerbread... - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, i flashed the prerooted rom from doomlord and followed every step. And then I restored my apps, and when trying to move, for example, angry birds it says that my storage space isnt enough. So I decided to wipe my sd card and try again and got the same message.
Could some1 please help solving this problem?

Yes, I know not every app is movable. But as far as I know, Angry Birds is a movable app.

I'm getting the same problem. CM7 allows many apps to move to the SD card. Flash used to go from 12mb to 60kb!!

please delete all hidden folders on the sd card (they start with ".foldername")
of course make backup before.
you might need to redownload some apps then.
This is caused if you had apps in a previous version moved to sd.
how do i delete them if they are hidden???
thank you
The file explorer on the rom shows them or use root explorer. Or in windows set show all files (google how to show hidden folder on windows)

I am still gettin the same message that i dont have enough space on sd.
Should i format my sdcard?
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
First i would suggest to deinstall the apps which are already on sd. Then format sd card (make sure to only have 1 partition).
Then download from market and reinstall the apps. Then move to sd.
This is how i managed it.
(you can goto settings, applications, application administration and click on the sd tab and deinstall apps)

[Help] moving app that don't want to move to the sd

Hello.
I have a lg p500 with 2.2.2 and im having problems using app2sd to move app to my memory card. On app2sd i get three different options of apps ( in the phone; in the sd; Phone only). I already have some on the sd but the ones on phone only don't let me move them and they are almost every app i have. The app said that the apps in that section couldn't be moved, but I thought it was because my phone wasn't rooted so i root the phone and still can't move them.
What can i do to solve this? From time to time i get the "almost full memory" warning and i have an sd with GB free...
Download move2sd enabler from the market.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Thanks. Downloaded it and was able to move the apps.

how can i move the whole app to sd

i'm working with stock froyo
link2sd i think doesn't move the the whole
app ( i tick app , delvik and lib
data) ,
ii hv epocrates whic is 2MB and 45 MB
date , link2sd moves only the 2 mega and
leaves 45 on my internal memory ,
same with angry birds .only move 1 mega to sd and leaves 12 mega on my internal memory
move 2 sd enabler and apps2sd i think they do the same
my phone is useless if i didn't find definitive
solution to the low memory issue
so How can i move the WHOLE app to sd

Try move2sd enabler and app2sd too. Maybe it helping(dont know exactly anymore), if not, they do not do any damaging to your phone. If not helping you just can unistall them then(TRY them)!

Jep, I read, just saying it to be shore. Then I think you try to FLASH you FROYO again and try then. It was worked to me before I was in FROYO! Was installed move2sd enabler, then run it, but EXTERNAL. Install app2sd, then JUST run it and you can close it. Now install link2sd(and OF COURSE you must be ROOTED, with two partitions in SD[FAT32 & EXT2]). And it must be working or you doing something wrong. SORRY!

finally I found the way to move the whole app to the sd card, i Have froyo 2.2.1 stock what you have to do is this:
-root your phone
-Make a partition to the sd card, FAT32 and ext2
-install move2sd enabler
then install move2sd and select EXTERNAL
-install link2sd and select ext2 and reboot
-after rebooting open link2sd and select the app you want to move, it say on sd (froyo way) select manage and move to phone select the app again and select create link, select the 3 checks, make the link, select app again, manage, move to sd card, your memory will increase a little bit with each app...
worked for me,,,

but i got important app had 45 mb data on phone memory . how cn i move data to sd ? the app is epocrates medical
tried data2sd but it has many bugs
btw why the memory decreases slowly despite using move2sd enabler and link2sd ¿???
Well the cache and data keep on increasing as you use browsers and games....titanium backup has the option of moving data of each app to sd...if u have darktremors apps2sd there is a data2sd command

Internal memory shortage!!

Although we can move apps to sd with rooted device but it still comsumes some memory form mobile. Is it not possible to move apps to sd without any consumstion of internal memory?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
I dont think so...
Partition your SD and use link2SD if you're on stock rom or a2SD / s2e if you're on custom rom. Still, all apps use a small amount of internal storage. Also check if your cache isn't too big, I've recovered up to 40 MB by clearing cache every few months.
You can use "S2E" from market and tick all option including the data one but you will get a decrease in performace. For data you must enter in definitions and tick advanced for accessing it.
I am using Miracale v4 by itasoulas and using link2sd to move apps to sd but if i download heavy size app or games it takes much more internal memory so, i'm running out of internal memory.
If i do partition of my sd card to install app separately will it also consume internal phone memory?

I have made partition of sd yet. Im thinking of making it if I get any solution.
I used Link2SD and now have over 100mb free internal space. I partitioned the sd card to ext3, 1024mb.... works like a charm, no performance issues.. widgets are recognized as well.

lol why should I? who cares anyway.
get titanium backup and use the "Convert to system app" option...this moves the app to free ROM memory...this should give you at least 25-45 MB user memory

Forum ma search kar bo topic 6 enu upar
i choose manual to move app to sdcard from settings(no use any app for this),20 hd games+17 casual games + 35 apps i still have 70mb free memory, maybe s2e gives more free space but it isn't stable, sometimes when i unplug my battery because of lags, then my apps are gone,link2sd is rubbish, they just give me 40 mb space and unstable like s2e.
sorry for my english

Absolutely true, the only thing good is that it still keeps the app fast (+ widgets) and no hassle on connecting USB
Useful for just those 4-5 apps one wants
Even in link2sd no hassle in USB class 10 sdcard so its super fast :-D

You need a rooted Ace for this? And custom ROM?
Guys,
Sorry to ask a noob question:
I know how to partition the SD card to EXT, but does these apps mentioned, Link2SD etc, working with stock rom? And uprooted phone?
Thanks.
Yes.
But you need follow the tutorials that are posted in the forum (hit search).
In stock roms u need (i guess) another kernel that support inid.d scripts.
The only reason i love cyanogen is because of s2e, after move dalvin on ed-ext i have 160 mb and with all my apps (20-+) i have 140mb.
I don't know if on stock u can do what s2e does but there are another tricks. (Link2sd) for exemple.

I got same phone and same ROM and you can't choose default installation place, because S3 has internal storage for apps.
Maybe some notes from my experience will helps to you:
1. Not enough space error - this error causing not only when you have few storage space, this error may cause when not enough space in cache, where play store downloading updates/new apps before install. So in such situation any cleaner will helps to you, i'm using SD Maid Pro, but free Clean Master on any other cleaner will be useful
2. If you will install lot of heavy apps (Like i do) - you will always suffer from a lack of free space, so you need something to move heavy data from phone storage to SD-card - my choice was Folder Mount, that moved android\data and android\obb to sd-card but you can link absolutely any folders in internal card to SD.
3. Abut updates it is not clearely, can you provide more info about your phone, what update you trying to install and some logs/screenshots/description about error in installation?
Same problemo
i had the same problem once with stock 4.3 but now am in a custom ROM no problemo now
