Sup guys. I was wondering if anyone else has issues with their speakerphones? When im using it i can hear everyone fine but i have to hold the phone closer to my face then i do with out the speakerphone on. Seems like Alien 2 rom fixed it but last night i screwed it up trying to oc my kernal and put Ninja SF on. but it seems like its hard for the person on the other side of the phone to hear me.
Hmmmm, I've always had this issue since froyo so i can't really say. Do you mean your sound input is quieter when your speakerphone is on? How did you test this

When using MikRom's Perfect Storm v1.2 i get a popping sound before and after i one of my ringtones goes off. But when im on Adynalyn's rom I dont. Is anyone else having this issue using Perfect Storm 1.2?
(Yes when i switch roms i wipe data, cache, dalvik and battery each time)
Im not and I have ran both. My blackberry always popped when it was wet, but doesnt sound like thats your problem.
yea it was fine earlier, but now its popping again. im worried that it will have a long term effect on my speaker
Actually what it sounds like is my speaker stays on for a good 3 or 4 seconds after the tone ends, and it pops when it finally turns off.
Update: it does this on VirusRom too,
the only one that it doesnt do it on is Adrynalyn. Please, any help would be appreciated
i need to bump this..

I've recently noticed that I don't get sound when making a phone call unless I change to speakerphone. I don't make many calls so I don't know exactly how long it's been happening, but I first noticed it a couple weeks ago. I know that the other person can hear me fine when I'm on either setting. I've also switched ROMs, from Alien to the new CM7 beta, with no change.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is it most likely a hardware problem? I've never dropped my phone or anything, and it's only 3 months old. Does anyone know of an app that can test the normal phone speaker, because all other sounds have been working fine.
Thanks for any suggestions!

My guess is it's a hardware problem. I would have it checked out by your mobile phone company.
You can also look up "hardware test" in market and you will find apps there you can use to test your hardware. Sorry not to recommend one. There are many there if you look them up.

Thanks for the response. I looked for an app already and didn't find anything useful. There were tests for just about everything else; touch screen, sensors, GPS, etc., and only two that I found that had an audio test at all. However, neither of them allowed me to specifically test the "phone" speaker.
I just think it's weird that all other sounds work fine. I'd really rather test it before I send it in to Motorola.
Thanks again!
This was a common issue on the Motorola Defy's. I had to send mine to Moto for repair. If you're within a year, AT&T will replace it.
I am having this exact same problem with homebase. but mine is intermittent it will work straight after a reboot
More sound issues
In my case I just updated from Froyo to Gingerbread, everything was working perfectly, when suddenly i stopped listening to the earpiece, the loudspeaker still works during calls,
On the other hand, if I try listening to music or any other sound, the loudspeakers dont work... any ideas of what could have caused the problem? It feels like some sort of driver issue, because while trying our the earpiece and loudspeaker during a call I was able to listen to one second of conversation through the earpiece...
i do have exactly the same issue...
putting pressure just beneath the fingerprint scanner, makes the earpiece work for an instant ...
its definitely a hardware issue...
m really fed up with dead spots on touchscreen n this earpiece issue....

Same problem here?
Does any1 have any fix..Help needed!!!
My wife's S2 is having in call audio.problems. It was running unnamed 1.20 when it started. I tried CM7 and brought it back to stock with no luck. The problem still remains. When she recives a call the caller sounds robotic and cuts in and out. Keep it mind it does the same thing in speaker mood and with headsets/headphones. Strangely enough everything else works fine. Music plays fine on the speakers and with headphones.
Any ideas why this is happening?
She said my 10 month old son got a hold of it and chewed on it a lil. If its water damage I wouldn't expect it to play music...

sooo no one has had this problem... thanks anyways
Most of the time it happens during calls. I'll answer the phone and hear a slight high pitched squeal (typically fades into the background to where the phone is still usable) that can become screeching feedback if my hand covers the microphone just right. It's hurt my ear unexpectedly more than once.
Sometimes it will happen even when I'm not in a call.
I've experienced it on Linaro roms running CM9 and I think also CM10.
I installed a sense rom and haven't had the problem since.
Anyone else experiencing this?
This is a really common problem as far as aosp goes. Every phone handles it differently

How unfortunate. I really like AOSP, except this, and this is a dealbreaker. I can't stand listening to squealing every time I answer a call and always fearing getting blasted by loud feedback with the phone near my ear.

I'm not 100% sure about this but there may be a workaround or something if you feel like thread surfing a little bit. My phone has never been quite as extreme so I never really paid attention. Good Luck
Turn your earpiece volume down, that way it won't feed back through.
I get scratchy audio on CM during calls, but never had anything hurt my ear. Do you have any dsp manager or anything boosting the audio volume?
And yes, Sense has a noise canceler built into the dialer that works much better than AOSP, it's one of the tradeoffs atm.

people keep complaining when i'm on speaker phone that they can't really hear me and that the call quality is terrible, even when i have full service and am just sitting at a desk. using the phone normally works, so it's just how i sound to someone else on speakerphone. i'm running cleanrom 4.0.5 and the newest perseus kernel. anyone else with issues like this?

Hi,
Check the small hole next to the headphone jack on top if it is blocked by debris or anything while talking it will effect the sound quality. It is used to help with noise reduction from your end on a call.
Thanks,
