To get rid of sound, just delete nyan.mp3 from system\media\audio\notifications

The ones we've tried don't seem to work on 2.1. Not sure if thats the case for all of them though.

Battery is in Framework-res . If you grab my 1% in themes it should give you a workable framework. I recompiled that one myself. Thank you Fernando Sor
