I can turn my phone off after sleeping a while, and I have full bars on wifi signal, but no internet access...have to turn wifi off, then turn it back on to be connected again
Anyone having a similar issue or find a fix?
This is really really really annoying, and it's not the router, happens any time I'm on wifi
did you happen to temp root your phone ?
i had the same problem . I had temp rooted my phone then fully rooted it and then i stated having that problem.
What i did was go into WiFi setting and forget/remove your network. Reboot pull battey just because , start it up reconnect to WiFi and it hasn't happened since.
Edit : if that happens to work let me know .

why do you ask?

didn't work
did it 3 times
that is unfortunate.
that is a very annoying problem.
only other thing i can think of is after you forget your network turn wifi off then reboot.
Those are the only thing i did and it worked for me .
have you tried going into WiFi setting then menu then advanced?
maybe change its sleep policy around.
as of now when my phone sleeps the WiFi icon will shut off . when i turn it on give a few seconds and it reconnects.
before when my phone would sleep, i turn it on WiFi would still be on but it wouldn't load any pages until i turned it off and on again.

That was a problem with the Temp. Root. If you went right from Temp. Root to full with out flashing, I recommend you flash right now, before you get too much customization done on your phone. Flash everything off of it and remove the root and turn S-ON. Then flash once more and re s-off and root. That's how I had to fix it on my sisters phone.
if all else fails and you dont want to re root you could try wifi fixer in the market
just flashed a new kernel (silverneedle)
going to see if that alleviates the issue

Did you slide the WIFI button to the on position?
I have been unable to use wifi since the new radio
Yeah, I'm a dumb ass! I got the phone yesterday as an Asurion replacement for my XV6700 and installed this ROM first thing. Saw the switch after I wrote the post.
Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one with the wifi issue. It's really strange. After a hard reset or flashing my ROM, I have to have the wifi find my network when Windows starts before I install anything. If I start installing stuff and come back to the wifi later, it won't work. Just a annoying mental glitch I gotta tell myself when I hard reset that the wifi needs to be setup first. At least I know it isn't my phone acting flaky and just some weird glitch.

Hey all!
Just started this thread to explain something about SOD and phone SHUT DOWNS by itself.
I was NEVER BEFORE have these problems, like SOD or SHUT DOWN phone by itself, till now. I sure that it was related to one WIFI program, what I downloaded yesterday(Unlock With Wifi). Today I activated the app and I have phone SHUT DOWN by itself, like 3 times in hour. If I disabled the app, I solved the problem(for now I already UNINSTALLED that app).
Now I sure, that our SOD and S.DOWN problem not hardware problem, but SOFTWARE related problem.
I want to say you all, who have SOD or S.D...., look what app you have installed(what can use wifi) or in phone settings and try several times to configure your wifi(one of most: dont but your wifi to sleep, when screen is OFF), untill you solve you problem.
If you too know some examples, from you experience, then share with us here!
THX for reading!
Hope it will HELP someone.

I'll try if turning off wifi will help. It should if this is wifi related problem.

Hey!
Like I sayed, just try different things with WIFI settings. I think turning OFF wifi, will solve the problem, until you turning it back(when you have the problems). We will see, dose it solve the problem, if you turn OFF WIFI.
CHEERS!
You got the nail on spot. I was also in the same impression with SOD. Till now I'm not able to Figure out the app which cause this. But yes this is software issue rather than hardware. I also read else where that the SOD cause because of the lower voltage supplied to processor during sleep with which its not able to get itself up from sleep. Not sure...
I have a app that turns the wifi off when I lock the screen (dont remember which one of my apps!) so I havent experience it for awhile.
Sleep as an droid has a feature that shuts down the sleep tracker at a certain procentage (I chose 20%), instead of shutting the sleep tracker down, it shuts down the whole phone. Both of the times that i got SOD my phone had 20% left of its battery, so it was pretty obvious what caused it.
Sleep bot tracker is a great app if you forget to shut down your wi-fi before going to bed. Make it a habit to track your sleeping time, in the same time ull make it a habit to turn you wifi off. It has a built in function that shuts off the wifi when u start tracking your sleeping time. This app does not bring you and SOD.
What, but the general advise to sod had always been to check wifi always on...

I noticed that this problem is only for those who are using the older firmwares including XXKPH or the ROMs whose base are 2.3.4 KPH.
Haven't encountered this problem in the Samsung July 2011 release of 2.3.3 (KPN). But I guess, this is a good post for those who are still experiencing this.
For now, I'm just happy with KPN (that's why I'm not as active before here in the forums).
Before I flashed to 2.3.4 KPH, my Wifi worked flawlessly.
Now my Wifi reception is extremely limited (I have to be in direct line of sight to the router within 2 meters to be able to get a stable connection)
and
I get those dreaded SoDs (sleep of deaths).
My question:
Is it possible to flash only the modem file of 2.3.3 to try whether that works?
If yes, will my current system be wiped if I only flash the modem file?

If you don't use the video chat in Google Talk, then why not just flash 2.3.3 KPN?
The only new feature in 2.3.4 is the video chat in Google talk. Most bug fixes are now in the July 2011 release of 2.3.3 KPN.
Yes, I'm contemplating to do that.
But as I've spent a bit over a weeks time to set my system up, I would like to know if it's possible to just flash the modem without touching the already working system.
edit: I see KPN is a single file flash, so I won't be able to flash only the modem. Ok, backup and downgrade it is.
I've only experienced SOD once... But I always have wifi off. Just on when I'm going to use it. Afterwards I turn it off and good bye SOD issue

Hey!
Dont know exactly, but I think that you can restore your system settings and other system things, with TITANIUM BACKUP. Backup the ALL SYSTEM DATA in batch menu. Go to TITANIUM BACKUP>Menu>batch. Pick: backup all system data and RUN THE BATCH. After that, flash you ROM(what ever you want) and try to restore all system settings from TITANIUM B.. Ofcourse, what ever happens, I suggesting you do NANDROID BACKUP from CWM recovery, before you start anything. If nothing works(or **** happens), you can RESTORE ALL FROM NANDROID BACKUP.

Update: I flashed 2.3.3 KPN and did a factory reset.
The SOD problems are gone now,
but
the bad wifi reception still remains. (Connection to router only works within an extremely close range)
If I cannot find a fix for this problem I might try out a froyo firmware.
Did anybody have a similar problem? Would really appreciate some hints.

Hey!
I think its not ROM-s problem. Try look your Router settings and phone settings. I think something is not right in PHONE or ROUTER settings. Not seen this kinde of problem YET, with ANY ROM. Try to look.
One question: dose you not DROP you phone or similar? I seen little problems can happen, even nothing SERIOUS was done(like speaker, wifi and other HARDWARE problems).

I don have any sod problems.
BUT,sometimes my phone vibrates 3 times n then goes to Samsung bootlogo, den homescreen comes up n mediascanner starts.. (I ges this is called soft resetting)
Any solutions to get rid of this???

my phone was rooted and running on 2.3.4 KPH. i had 3 SODs today but i never have any sods when i am at home. i have no idea which one(s) cause SOD.
today i flashed with coderom v2 (formatted sd and wiped internal memory and cache) i will see if sods keep on coming. if they do happen, then i am going to try KPN
I discovered this issue not matter which rom I flash (CM7, CM9, Motoblur, etc.) : my wifi never goes to sleep even though I set the sleep policy correctly in the settings...
Any idea what to do ?
Up ?
Any clue on why this is happening. I had a massive error this morning (phone wouldn't boot) and I had to revert to full stock and the bug is still there...
have you tried reflashing system with RSD? or airplane mode?
I just flashed through RSD and the Wifi is always on. And I don't want to go in Airplane mode...I still need my phone for phone calls, you know...
just try to turn on Airplane Mode. If wifi will be turned on then you have hardware problem, and you have send your phone to service
Airplane mode actually shuts the wifi, as it should...
Wifi shuts off around 5 minutes after screen is shut off IF there is not data being transfered. Maybe you have a rogue app that keeps your connection busy? Hmmm

Try flashing this. It's for ICS based roms, but it sets permissions on 3 files that cause your phone to not fully go to sleep

Do these files install in the correct location? I was reading a discussion not long ago where some thought /system/bin and some thought /system/xbin. There was also a mention of setting permissions.
Edit:
I just remembered that I also downloaded a file from your Goo Atrix page. It is a different file size from the link you posted in the message I am replying to.

I looked at the script and a recent flash of jokersax v070, the permissions are already set to root:shell 744 (rwxr-xr-x) on the directory and files, so no need to flash on that rom in my opinion

Happens with CM9 here, but only at my work. At my home wifi sleep works.
I'm testing the solution given here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23211
Wifi entered sleep normally after the change. I will test more.
I can also confirm that the phone will deep sleep and that WIFI will sleep with this patch on Jokersax' CM9 0.7.0.0. Without the patch neither of those things worked.

If you look at the scripts you'll see that jokersax 070 already performs the steps contained in this script and on a phone without this applied the files do correctly reflect the permissions per this script. I can see that you are battling with this issue, as many are, but considering the two scripts are identical, it makes no senses to make this claim. I do believe you regarding the symptoms. And I am unable to offer an explanation regarding the apparent change on your phone.

stock. only thing I did after the update was hold down the power button and did a forced restart.
Yeah, I'm also using the latest update, and I haven't had any problems. I'm using the connection to write this post now.
I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone in between. That's really all I can think of, assuming it was working before.
You can probably find the older version of the app somewhere - if you're still having problems, you could try that as a fallback.

I just finish doing a factory reset now I'm putting all my stuff back once im done il try the app againg to see if i can get it to work thank you all for the help.
Wao just figure it out after doing a factory reset just notice that the problem was when you start the hotspot the wifi turns on and the problem was that phone was connecting to my router and the connection was not going thru tank you guys for all your help sorry for the inconvenience.
I've only owned my Omate Truesmart for one day and the WiFi decided to give it up. I turned the wifi off once today and as soon as I tried to turn the WiFi back on it would not work. Whenever I touch the button to activate WiFi it lights up blue for a second and it then stops. Tried it several times today and nothing different. When I try to get into the wifi settings from the "Wireless & Networks" I'm greeted by a blank screen too.
So far I'm considering if it's a software issue I might try to return it to the stock firmware with this guide. However I'm waiting until I get some input from other people. I don't have cellular data access because I don't have a sim card in it. Any help is appreciated.
So what not stock firmware are you running? BTW both BT and wifi hang on stock firmware. You need to disable quickboot and reboot.
Question. What is wrong with my flashing guide so I can fix it.
Oh nothing wrong with the guide. I haven't used it yet. I'm on the stock firmware. How do I disable the quickboot?

I got my Omate today and am having trouble with Wifi. If I turn wifi on it crashes the phone and cuaes it to completely power off. It will run for as long as I like with airplane mode on and will not crash if I turn bluetooth on. I found this suggestion and turned quickboot off and rebooted. Still the same behavior with wifi. Has anyone else reported this? Any suggestions?
I'm running firmware 20140120
I have a weak wifi signal on my Omate. Unless I'm right next to the router I can't pick up a wifi signal with the watch. Is there anything that I can do about this?
Sounds like the wifi antenna connector came lose. Contact Omate and get it replaced. The only other option is to disassemble it and reseat the connector.
